How long ago did you have your surgery? How much weight have you lost? What has changed in your life since surgerY? Positive things or Negatives things please. I am going to be sleeved next month and just curious =)
-
When did your pain go away and how bad was your pain?
-
I read all of you talking about a honeymoon period after surgery. What is that referring to?
-
Just curious on how long of a diet you had to do for your insurance to approve you?
-
Im having WLS next month and I was curious, after you lost weight, how much loose skin did you have? Did your skin ever stretch back at all and get firm again? I just turned 20 years old...but I have been overweight literally my whole life...haven't been 150 lbs since like probably 5th grade...since I am younger do you think my skin will stretch back or no?
-
I have read a lot of information on the internet that says after you get the sleeve, the hunger hormone is officially gone, is that true?
-
I am just wondering how much weight you lost at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and a year?

Congrats!!! How old are you and what state? I knew some state medicaid programs were beginning to cover the sleeve but didn't know which ones. Good luck, so excited for you!!!
:cheer2:
I am 20 years old and I live in Michigan. I have Mclaren Medicaid Health Plan

So I was just bumming because I called my insurance company for the 100th time and Medicaid told me something different...that I had to have a one year medically supervised diet to be able to approve my surgery. But apparently they didnt know that medicaid is my secondary insurance and Blue Cross Blue Shield is my primary insurance! So my BCBS approved me without a supervised diet and since they are my primary, my Medicaid is going to pay the rest! Since I am under 21 years old Medicaid is going to pay all of my deductibles and copays also! All I have to pay for is my pre op diet, so my total bill for my surgery will be $915!!!! Thank god something is going right in my life for once!!!
-
So I have got all my pre op appointments done down to the last dietician followup and I just found out that my Medicaid requires a 1 year medically supervised diet! How horrible is thatttt!! My BCBS doesn't require a diet at all but if I want medicaid to cover what BCBS doesn't then I have to complete the 1 year diet. I was so excited to get my surgery done in the summer and start a new life too =(

I only have 2 appointments left before I get my surgery date and my doctor or surgeon hasnt said anything about a supervised diet..is that something I might not have to do for my insurance to cover it since I have sleep Apnea, Urine Incontinuance and Polysistic Ovarian Disease?

Hello everyone. I am in the process of getting my bariatric appointments done at the moment. I only have a couple more appointments til I get my surgery date, but first I have to choose what WLS I would like to have done. The lapband is completely out for me because I dont want anything foreign in my body for the rest of my life. So my choices are left between the sleeve and the gastric bypass. I am more leaning towards the sleeve but my doctors are saying that the gastric bypass is much more popular and told me to think through it again. Why did you choose to get the sleeve over the bypass? Or vice versus?
-
If so how did your surgery go with them and who did you have?
-
I have had my heart set on getting the vertical sleeve for sometime now. Now that I am actually in the process of making my dream happen, my doctor is trying to convince me to think about getting gastric bypass instead. Can all of you tell me why you chose the surgery you did? I also want to know all of the differences between them that I might not be able to find on the internet!
-
PLease tell me if you went to Sparrow HOspital in East Lansing MI. If so who was your doctor? How did your surgery go? Any complications?
-
How long did it take for you to get approved?
-
I was just curious on how long it took all of you to get approved? Did you get approved the first time, second, third? Am I gonna be waiting miserably for a week, 2 weeks, or longer to find out if I have been approved?
-
I'm sorry that you are going through that. It sounds like he is definitely insecure. Try to stay focused on the goal at hand, have you had WLS yet or are you prepping to have it?
I am prepping for it. I have my orientation for VSG on May 16th! In 3 days =]]

I hope everything goes smoothly and quickly! I went to a seminar at the end of February and now my surgery is in two weeks. I have BCBS Anthem and was approved. I'm 18. Good luck!
Did you have any comorbidities?

So he was dating another girl that was chubby as well? This is what he is attracted to then, correct? It's no wonder he doesn't want you to have the surgery then. Is he willing to own up to that or is he in denial about it? Something maybe counseling could help if you're serious about staying together because he's going to have to come to terms with the fact that YOU want to get healthy and not die young.
Renee`
I wouldnt say that he is only attracted to chubby girls. He has only had me and his ex that was, the rest were little skinny minis!
-
Wait, I thought he broke up with you
He left and walked out on me....havent heard from him since... but we haven't officially broke up yet.
-
Yes because there are tons of men trolling WLS support boards looking for women
He sounds like the Jealous type...not generally a good type to keep around. They get weird controlling and start accusing you of doing things you aren't. It quickly becomes an abusive dynamic. I say Good Riddance.
hahaha good one!! I told him the exact same thing!! He just said that it's something that me and another guy on here would have in common and thats how we could relate. Blah Blah BLah !

My boyfriend and I have been together a little over a year ago. And my boyfriend's ex girlfriend apparently had gastric bypass years ago when they were together. They were together for 6 years and she left him after she got skinny. So this is why my boyfriend isn't very supportive. He is afraid that it will happen again..and I understand that must of been hard but I really need him to be supportive of me through this whole thing. I mean it's not like he's mean about it or anything it just worries him that he's gonna have to go through the same exact heart break over again. I love him more than anything in this world and he is the one that I want to make my husband. How do I get him to understand that I'm not going to do this to him? Has anyone else had a similar situation?
How much was your out of pocket?!?
