  1. I was actually afraid to eat the first week and had absolutely no appetite so I found myself weak and nauseated all the time. I started just nibbling on my family's dinner and noticed I feel so much better. I can't manage to keep ANY of the Protein down so I'm having to use food as a protein source.

Try GoGurt...that was the first thing I "ate" and it made a world of a difference. Then I tried a little oatmeal, then some mashed sweet potatoes, and a little cornbread dressing. Now I can only eat a couple baby spoons full before I'm totally stuffed bu hey, I'm eating! Also keep in mind that the larger you were befoe surgery, the more trauma your tummy went through. I was only 206 and I had managed to "shrink" my stomach quite a bit before surgery.

Everyone moves at their own pace and I believe the recommended diets are too "perfect" for everyone to follow. We aren't all the same and even though we had the same surgery we won't heal the same or progress the same! My cousin had the bypass in Alabama and went home already eating mushies! No liquid phase at all! Trust me, you will know when you can handle it...take it one small bite at a time. Also try coconut water....I'm drinking it today and I swear I feel 1000000% better! Must be the Vitamins and potassium!

Good luck guys! We are all going to be just fine!

  2. Hey Gayle! We should hook up for tea or something! My surgeon was Sebesta as well! I'm sure we probably completed the pathway together! My surgery was on the 17th.

I lost the majority of my weight before surgery. My highest was 280 when pregnant with my last baby and this morning I was 191! I can't believe it. That's 15 pounds since surgery and I'm a light weight (according to Sebesta) so I didn't expect to do that well.

I'm a bad patient and have moved myself to mushies but liquids was leaving me exhausted and I had to come back to work.

I'm originally from Alabama. My hubby is in 4th brigade. What about your hubby? Send me a private message anytime...we really should connect!

  3. Hello Everyone! So maybe day 7 is the magic whistle because I feel Fan-freaking-tastic today! I was sleeved last Friday and up until today I haven't even had the will to get dressed everyday. It wasn't the pain, because that is minimal but I just was super tired and lazy. Well today, I got up, showered, flat ironed my hair, weighed myself, and got dressed! I even went to the mall with my hubby and kids. Maybe it's that I'm so excited to finally be under 200 pounds...I've lost 9.4 pounds since the sleeve and my tummy is still swolen so I know I still have some Fluid floating around in there.

I'm having a hard time with the liquids...today I went to Jamba juice and got one of their "light" smoothies with a Protein boost and I managed to sip about 10 spoonfuls of that over about an hour...that's pretty good for me! I actually had a whole GoGurt for Breakfast...over about an hour, and chicken Tortilla Soup (well the juice of the soup) for lunch and dinner (about 10 spoons each time). Hey, maybe that's why I feel so darn good...I'm actually nourished today.

Anyway, I hope everyone starts feeling better so we can all concentrate of getting sexy!!! My goal is to be fine at 29 and my birthday is on October 8 so I got to get it together fast! LOL.

  4. Hi! I had surgery last Friday and for the most part I feel pretty good. I do have one sore spot to the right of my belly button...close to my largest incision but the pain is tolerable. I have not been able to get in nearly enough liquids and I know I need to. The Protein is disgusting and all smells horrible! I can't even drink 20 ounces a day! I'm just not thirsty. I cheated a bit today and ate a little oatmeal...I was just burnt out on yogurt. Sometimes when I eat/drink I get a little cramping in my stomach but it only lasts a few seconds so it is tolerable.

Now sleeping is a different story, I am a side/tummy sleeper and that still is kind of difficult!
