  1. My doctor allowed light weights after 4 weeks, just to give you an idea what you might expect.
  2. How far away is the lake from your doctor? What are your doctor's post-op eating instructions? Generally speaking, I think you will be OK since the vacation you describe is pretty laid back. I was a good 10 days before I felt 90% normal. You'll have to be very very careful not to overdo it as you PREPARE for your vacation (shopping, packing, etc.) If you're going to have any problems eating, you'll know it before you leave...and if you want to be extra precautious you can stay on fluids and mushies during your vacation, staying far away from any real solid food like meats or raw vegetables. The other alternative is to postpone your surgery until after you return, of course. It's only another month. If it were ME, that's probably what I would do. Sounds like a wonderful getaway!
  3. I've been aggressive with my fills and my doctor is fine with it. I was banded on April 4 1st fill was May 4 2nd fill was May 22 3rd fill was June 27 complications? Not yet....and don't expect any. I just follow the rules!
  4. one day before 3rd fill: 2/3 c. cottage cheese w/ raspberries; 1/2 c tuna mixed with mayo, crackers; Honey Mustard chicken salad from Quiznos (ate 1/2); a scoop of low-carb chocolate ice cream One day after 3rd fill: (on mushies for 2 days) 1/2 c cottage cheese w/ pureed pineapple; 1/2 banana mashed with 1T smooth peanut butter; 2/3 c strawberry banana Protein smoothie; 3 oz. light cheddar (chewed well) and 3/4 c honeydew melon chunks. I'm perfectly satisfied with those meals! Generally I have a hard time with white meat chicken, any beef except filets, anything fried, soft breads. Have never tried Pasta or rice since being banded. When I was in the consideration stage I was terrified to give up so many foods. But honestly I haven't had to give up much at all and what I have given up I don't miss. Life is good! I love my band!
  5. CONGRATULATIONS, SUNTA!!!
  6. I don't know of anyone who DOES like needles or pain!!! You got thru the surgery, surely you can handle the fills!! I've had 3. They have all been quite tolerable and are over so quickly that it's not even an issue. The one I had yesterday I could hardly feel at all....it was nothing!!
  7. That's all that matters!! OMG, I'm sooooooo sore today!! I punished myself yesterday at the gym and today I feel like I did that first week. My quads hurt so bad I'm afraid to get out of this chair! But I must. Just not now........ LOL When i drop something on the floor, I just leave it. And WHY do they make toilets so low to the ground??!! I may even take a shot of my pain meds today. Oy!!!
  8. Gosh Dena - you are having tremendous success for a low BMI bandster!!! Congratulations!!!! You must be thrilled!! What is your eating and exercise plan? (if you don't mind sharing!)
  9. (((Lunasa))) Dear One, The problem is simply that you are not properly filled yet....don't you know that? What is your fill status? You know you can do this!! Yes, you have to make healthier food choices but doesn't everyone? Even if you were skinny it would be better for your health to eat a plum than a bag of chips. Throw out all the crap food in your pantry and refrigerator today AND the beer! It's not a diet...it's simply eating for better health! Go ahead and eat peanut butter and bananas or cottage cheese and pineapple by the bucket-loads if you want....just no chips or fries! Did you know that protein triggers the hormone that tells us to stop eating when full, but carbs do not? That's why you can eat an entire bucket of popcorn and never get full. How many boiled eggs do you think you could eat? As far as your weight going up and down, up and down....I think we're all in that spot this month (except for our mascot, Judy!!). I've only lost 2.5# this entire month! But like Kat said above, it seems slow but when a year goes by you'll look back at how amazing the losses all added up. Just keep going forward no matter what! It's WAY too early in the ball game to give up and you know it. Take a deep breath and take control. Call your doctor today and schedule a fill. Read an inspirational book. Meditate. Find some peace today. It's ALL good!! XOOXOXOOXOXOXO, Terry
  10. This sounds so strange to me! You've lost an amazing 41# 10 weeks, which is 4#/week....and they want to max you out on your fills??? Are you sure it wasn't a 0.5cc fill?? That would make a lot more sense because that would be a small fill. I'm surprised they gave you anything at all! Well, anyway....if you can barely swallow water you definitely should monitor closely how much water you ARE able to get in over the course of a day and if it doesn't get better in a day or two call your doctor!! I've had 2 fills and each time the restriction felt tighter at one week than it did within the first 24-48 hours. But then it got looser again and was fine. Just don't get dehydrated and be careful with what you eat....small bites and chew chew chew chew!! Jane - this is great news!! I was thinking about you today and am so glad you're feeling good. What kind of scar do you have?? do they think this will take care of it for good now? Gosh, I hope so. I have been so out of whack ever since about June 13! Just lots of socializing, kids coming and going, celebrating, travel, eating, messed up schedules, being tired, a loose band....you name it. In other words, I have not been the ideal bandster!! I'm taking the next week off and plan to work my big huge bloated butt OFF at the gym (do butts get bloated?). AND....I made an appointment for my 3rd fill tomorrow! I'm going to ask for a tiny one 'cause I'm not even sure I really need one, but I sure feel like I've been able to eat too much food and getting too hungry between meals. And, of course, I have only lost 1-2 # in the last month! I will be so glad when July gets well underway and I can get back to my 'routine'!! I am not doing well with so many distractions. Not worried though. It's all good! Jenn - I'll say a special prayer for you tonight...XOXO

  12. That's HILARIOUS! Your friends must think ya'll are loco. No way you could have explained it to them...NOT at the dinner table...for sure. LOL
  13. Isn't that strange about rice? I haven't tried it because SOOOO many people have that issue. But I just fine it odd it's one of the foods that cause so many problems. Steak's ok, but not rice?? Weird.
  14. Ain't THAT the truth!! When the family is sitting around eating a pizza, I'll try to envision "treatment effects".....or what is otherwise fondly known as "squeezins". That ought to take care of any notion I have of eating it!:tired
  15. Janie -- so sorry to hear about your need for more surgery but at least the problem will be taken care of and behind you! Will they be able to do it laprascopically? Gosh, I hope so. And I have a question for you...how the HECK did you lose 79# in such a short time???? Is all that since you were banded?? Good lawd! Judy - I can't grow a dang thing. I love hosta and you have bunches! Of course here in Houston it's hard to keep anything alive thru the summer. Ugh. Especially if one's yard doesn't have much shade....I haven't had shade in a yard EVER! Always moving into a new house that has little saplings in the yard. I did discover a secret to a great workout yesterday! Get mad at your DH!!! Left and went to the gym for 2 hours....worked my dang tail off. Gave myself credit for 2 workouts....is that OK? Off to get my hair cut by a new hairdresser today, then to the gym, maybe a little shopping, then to a fancy dinner with the mean ol' DH, his daughter and new hubby. DH is playing golf this morning. Hope he melts.
  16. LOL!! That's hilarious!!! <sigh> Poor baby.
  17. That, my friend, is SLIME.
  18. Gibson! Welcome! You see that line under your name that says "Registered User"? You probably oughta think about changing that to "Not a dude". Otherwise you'll have single women all over your posts! LOL!
  19. Treatment Effects. Wonder who thought that one up? Can't you just hear the talk around the conference table?? "Ok, people! Our task for today is to come up with a palatable word for the slimey orange oil that is discharged from your anus when you use this stuff! Barney? Got any ideas? How about you Claire? Bob?" Barney: "How about 'squeezins'"? Claire: "Metabolic Products"? Bob: "Lube"? .........what a vision.
  20. Your questions are addressed all over this board by thousands of users. If I answer your question, it's only my experience! I suggest you take a few days and just browse to your hearts content. Let me say this, however. I posted a poll when I was pre-op asking "Would you do it again?".... if you search you can find it....and last time I checked the result was 92%+ said YES. I was pretty impressed by that. I'm almost 3 m onths post-op and so far I'm loving it!
  21. You can get unflavored Protein with no problem. Just mix with your own ingredients...whatever you like! I thought I'd be drinking a lot of Protein shakes, but got tired of them pretty quickly. Thankfully, my doctor didn't require a liquid diet for very long at all. So I don't think this will be much of an issue for you.
  22. I don't have any problem with peanut butter, but not too much or too fast. A Couple of TBSP at the most with a banana or apple :yum:
  23. No. My starting weight was 215, current weight is 195 and goal weight is 150. Dumping is far more serious that PBing.... I suggest you learn more about it. Personally you couldn't pay me a million dollars to have a bypass. But that's me.
  24. Bread sometimes swells and gets stuck for people. I dont' seem to have any problem with it the few times I've eaten it...but I don't risk it very often. Same goes for Pasta and rice. Don't know why. If food gets stuck your stomach will react by producing massive amounts of 'slime'...which is really just like a thick saliva...it doesn't have any taste. So you've got your pouch full of food and the slime produces very quickly and it has nowhere to go but up....so you have to spit it out. The whole process is not much fun so we try to avoid those foods that create these problems. Besides, BPing irritates the pouch and once you've PB'd you tend to PB for another day or so unless you go to fluids and mushies. Still.....all things considered...I LOVE MY BAND!
