How Long Until First Fill

Hello everyone!!! I was banded last week and feel great!! I have a question regarding the timing of my first fill. Between my vacation schedule and my Dr.'s vacation I will either have to have my first fill four weeks after surgery or eight weeks.

I don't want to receive a fill too early, but I am super motivated right now, and really want to see the scales move. I started out with a lower BMI (30) and am worried that without restriction I will not lose weight.

Anyone out there who received their first fill after 4 weeks??? Will I run the risk of complications.

:help:

Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated!!!

I've been aggressive with my fills and my doctor is fine with it.

I was banded on April 4

1st fill was May 4

2nd fill was May 22

3rd fill was June 27

complications? Not yet....and don't expect any. I just follow the rules!

I just spoke with my surgeron's office and they advised that the manufacturers of the band want patients to wait 8 weeks until their first fill.

I was told if I had a fill any sooner than 6 weeks I would be asking for problems....

I feel very disappointed because one week out of surgery I am sooo hungry:cry. Now it looks like it will be the middle of August before I can start losing weight boo hoo!!

Hello, My doc says that with the new advance platform lap band they can do fills after 4 weeks. Anyone else have one or been told this? I got to look at the new and the old on in the office. both seem pretty good but the AP has the balloon all the way around and the closure or clasp can apparently be taken off easier then the older one. I wonder if they come undone on their own it did seem pretty easy to open and close. anyone hear of any problems with this?

I was banded on May 4th and went for a fill on June 14th but the Dr said he would not give me a fill because I was losing weight with just the band. His thoughts were that must be I was getting some restriction even without the fill. He said to wait until it got to the point that I was not losing a pound or two per week and then come back and he would give me one.

My surgeon will only do a fill 6 weeks post-op and not one day sooner.
