  1. I've got a good one (and I've post it many times on this board): The voice in my head that was contantly nagging at me to do something about losing weight is finally SILENT! Yeah, i think it's a great thread, too...don't understand why more people aren't postiing on it. It doesn't make any difference if someone has already posted the same things that you were gonna say....it's YOUR list....for YOU to take inventory of YOUR improvements!! Go ahead...do it...it's fun!
  2. Oh good!! I hope it helps you. I definitely notice a difference with just those 0.2cc, and I bet you will, too. keep me posted....now you've got me all curious!
  3. Where is MDRAI? Michelle!! Come out come out wherever you are!
  4. (((KAT))) I know you are worried sick to death, on top of being ill yourself. Your poor little family -- ya'll have sure been through the ringer and not done yet. Please post as you can about baby Kinsey... we are all thinking about you. Jenn - You are one hottie!!! I cannot believe the difference!!! That sweatshirt absolutely swallows you now! In that picture of your daughter....the girl sitting up in the background looks exactly like my daughter.... Freaky! Both of your kids are precious!
  5. Absolutely! Getting my 3rd fill was a bit of a tough decision, too. I could have made do with the restriction that I had but I thought it could be a bit better. My 3rd fill was just 0.2cc! It doesn't take much to make a significant difference. Good luck & please let me know how you're doing!
  6. The reason your pics are so big to begin with is because the resolution on your camera is set to "large format" or high resolution. You may want to adjust this before you take pictures that you know you'll only be viewing electronically. The only reason to take a large format picture is if you know you might want a hard copy in 8x10 or 11 x 14 size. Digital picture viewed on a screen only need a resolution of 90-200 dpi at most. I edit my pics in Power Point. Sorry I am not familiar with any other method. Here's how I do it: - In PPT, go to Insert, Picture, From File - When you get the desired picture on the slide, right click on the picture. - Go to Format Picture, then click the Compress button - Change the Resolution to Web/Screen - click OK - You may get a message about "compressing the image may affect the quality of your image...." click Apply - Then go to the picture and click and drag the corners to the size you want the photo -Then right click on the photo and do a "Save AsPicture" and save it wherever you want. I know Judy is good at it, too. Maybe she's got a suggestion.
  7. "Feeling in control" -- Now THERE'S a good one!! That sure is a nice change, isn't it?
  8. Oh, come on you guys!!! Surely there's a hundred stories out there!?
  9. BYE LAURA!!! WE'LL BE THINKING OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAVE A BLAST!!!
  10. I think I consumed 18# of sugar yesterday. It was everywhere!!! Cookies, cake, pie and ice cream! OY!!! :phanvan I just canNOT wait until Monday when my world returns to normal!!! June has been loads of fun, but not very good for my weight loss! Jenn.... I'm lost. What are you talking about here? And....what job? The pizza joint or did I miss something?? Thanks for the tip! I only 'go' about once every 5 days. I've always been like that but now seems to be a little worse. I did look up the drug info for Miralax (Patient Education - Drugs - Miralax) and found that it should only be taken for a max of 2 weeks, with a period of abstinence of 2-4 weeks....just FYI. Well, we already know you're crazy. I do suppose that you could have flushed your pouch when you drank....but what you ate was mushy anyway so wouldn't have hung around that long. I notice that when I drink anything with caffeine, lemon or artificial sugar that I get hungry faster. Hey....wait a minute. Everything I drink has one of those in it! Duh.
  11. Hi Lynn, What I would suggest first is to track your calories on FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal or Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate for a few days. You may be simply eating too many calories! I just had my 3rd fill a week ago and I can eat just about anything as long as I chew real well, but I sure can't get much in! For instance, this afternoon I had about 2 oz. of hamburger and 3 tbsp of potato salad and 3/4 c. of salad. I was so stuffed I had to go for a walk! Now, I KNOW I've got good restriction because I get so full so easily ....and I stay satisfied for at least 3 hours. Any more I'd be PBing all the time. Any less and I'd be eating twice that much and getting hungry within 2 hours. Solid food is the most satisfying. I hope that helps.
  12. YESSSSS!!!!!!! It WILL change your life!! And aren't you glad about that!!? Lunasa, there IS something wrong....but it's the kind of thing that doesn't show up in your blood! If he found anemia, wouldn't you take iron or whatever else he prescribed? This is no different. It's not a matter of character, girl! It's simply an imbalance.....and you will feel SOOOOOO much better!! I can't wait to watch you bloom! You made my day!
  13. ((Tracy)) I am so sorry. I feel your sadness. You are such a sweetheart and you deserve a great man. DBF does sound like a wonderful man in all other regards but that's a small consolation sometimes, I'm sure. Have you ever broached the subject of counseling? Has he ever discussed it with his doctor? Surely it must tear him up inside. I have the opposite problem of being a bit 'frigid' (ew! I hate that word!) but it is getting a little better as I lose weight. My point is, I understand how some of these guys must feel.... I'm sure they wish they were different but just don't have a freakin' clue how to fix it. Because first they have to 'own it', admit that they have a problem, and verbalize the desire to make remedies. That's a LOT to ask of a MAN! I certainly can visualize how everytime you bring it up that he automatically gets defensive, rather than just admitting it and asking for patience and help while he tries to figure it out. So I'm just thinking that maybe a book will help you break thru that barrier in some way....some suggestions on how to deal with the male ego and their unique way of thinking and feeling. I do hope you can find a way to get close to him again -- ya'll sound like a great couple in all other regards. -- XOXO
  14. (((Jenn))) We were posting at the same time. I am so sorry you're having one of those days. Sounds like classic PMS to me! Is it? If not, I'm sure it's some type of hormonal thing associated with losing weight combined with the mixed up emotions about dbf. Take comfort in knowing that it will pass in a couple of days. The day off from the gym will probably help a lot. Maybe have something a little more substantial today....like some oatmeal or cream of wheat, or make yourself a nice smoothie. Had DBF been out of touch and now he's back? It sure sounds like a roller coaster with you guys. I was on one like that for 4 years and never thought I'd get off. And you've been at it for 17??? That's exhausting in itself and I feel for you. I kept this taped to my mirror at home and on my desk at work.... it helped me understand my struggle. Maybe it will help you too: Life in 6 Chapters I walk down the street... there is a hole in the street. I fall into the hole... but I do not know I am in it. Finally I see the hole and try to get out. It takes a long time to get out of the hole. I walk down the same street.. the hole is still there... I see the hole. I fall into the hole again.... but I recognize where I am, and I want to be out of the hole. It still takes a long time to get out of the hole. I walk down the same street... the hole is still there... I see the hole and still fall into the hole again... it has become familiar.. But I have learned how to get out of the hole and.. Get out of the hole much quicker. I walk down the same street... the hole is always going to be there in this street. I see the hole..... and recognize it.. and think fondly of it.. but I think I don't want to be in the hole again. But I walk directly toward the hole and fall in again. I get out immediately. I walk down the same street... the hole hasn't moved... I like the looks of the hole Yet I remember I don't want to be in the hole... I remember the feelings in the hole.. I veer away... I walk around the hole and continue on my way. I go for a walk.... I walk down a different street. -- Unknown
  15. :usa2:Good Morning Violets! Please take a moment today to remember our troops who sacrifice so much. My nephew is in the Air Force. Do any of you have friends or relatives that are active? Well I think my 3rd fill is doing the trick very nicely. It's been a week and so far I'm not feeling it loosen up as much as inthe past. This is a very good thing. Yesterday I had to remind myself to eat dinner!! Remember those post-op days?? So for those of you that are struggling with hunger and eating too much....take heart!!! What they say is true!! It's ALL about good restriction and it does come in time! I've gotten so much good information from LBT. I can't imagine going thru this experience without it!! Can you? All these nice folks smoothing our ruffled brows, reassuring us over and over from the very beginning of our anxieties about making the decision and then surgery, post-op, weird pains, liquid diets, restriction, etc. How wonderful this has been to have their support and wisdom! Makes me sad for those that have decided to quit posting. I hope they're still reading at least. So THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS Without you there would be no LBT. Kat?? We're worried! ....How's your baby?
  16. Oh, I'm SOOOOO happy for you Ashley!! It's so worth everything and Dr. Spivak is the BEST!
  17. Have any of you read self-help books on the subject of men being this way? I guess there's as many reasons as there are men, but I just can't imagine! Every man I've ever been with is always ready, day or night. I suppose it's gotta be psychological....some trauma or madonna complex or other Freudian thing. Got wood but not interested in sex. Hmmmm. I did see a Dr Phil thing one time that was on this subject. The man was a model father and husband in all ways, except that he had been caught with a hooker! The family was mortified, as he was. When Dr.Phil got to the bottom of it, turns out the guy is overweight and was ashamed of his body....didn't want his wife touching him or getting near him because of his shame. I'm sure many of us can relate. Men are sometimes so lousy at verbalizing their feelings or even knowing what they are....maybe they don't even know why they're like that. Have any of you asked them to go to a psychologist or sex therapist with you?
  18. OMG Tracy!!!! YOU'RE MELTING AWAY!!!!!!!! Eat, girl...EAT!!! (old Italian joke)
  19. Take as much Gas-X as allowed by the directions on the box and walk or move as much as you reasonably can. The Gas-X really helped me, but I had to take it every few hours. Kat - we're thinking of you. Hope your baby is much better by now.
  20. Yeah, my libido crashed and burned when I hit menopause then got on Lexapro! But before Lexapro I was a raving BITCH and DH probably didn't want anything to do with me anyway! Poor DH, he just can't win. It's getting better now though.
  21. May I ask why you're driving to California? We have some of the best surgeons right here in Texas! Is it the cost difference?
  22. Slime is not really all that 'disgusting'... to me it's just like thicker saliva. it has no taste or anything. It's just an annoyance and it reminds you that you've done something wrong!! So you just learn from it and try not to repeat that behavior (or food) again. If you're banded you WILL slime at some point....almost guaranteed.
  23. The first thing that comes to mind is that you may just need to eliminate lettuce - many people have problems with it, especially iceburg. Was the chicken dark or white meat? And have you maybe gotten 'sloppy' about chewing really well and eating slowly? I can get more food in if I eat slower, letting each bite settle before taking the next one. I haven't noticed any connection to my workouts and restriction. You don't seem to eat many calories, Jenn. Do you count them? I'm wondering if maybe you've stalled a bit because you need MORE. Have yourself a bit of a pig-out day for a couple of days and see what happens. Not on junk, of course, but just up your calories to 1500-1800 for 2-3 days then back down. It works for me sometimes. Your body adapts to the same ol thing and you need to shake things up from time to time. I know you know all this already....feel like I'm preaching to the choir!
  24. Gosh, I haven't been able to get to this journal for the longest time! Ever since we went to the new "skin" the link didn't work. Found a work-around. so, it's July 3rd and I feel like I'm doing great!! Had my 3rd fill 6 days ago and am loving my restriction. If it could stay just like this I'd be real happy! Hopefully I'll start losing like a good bandster now. I'm exercising 5x a week: working with a trainer (Rory), trying different classes (they all kick my butt), swimming, cardio, etc. This morning I will try spinning for the first time. Last night I tried a step class (fun!). WHO IS THIS PERSON? Feel great and have no plans to stop, that's for sure. I think this is the longest I have consistently worked out and am really feeling all the benefits. It's incredible and I'm hooked! Richard is working out too and I noticed this morning that his biceps are really getting BIG! I'll have to check out the rest of him a little more closely!! Today I weigh 194. Seem to be averaging about 1 lb/week...maybe a little less. But that's pretty good because I'm not "dieting" per se. Eating things I enjoy, just less of them. I've had to get rid of SO many clothes but hated them anyway! LOL Gave them to Holly and hopefully she's getting some use out of them. She'll get more! Making great friends here on LBT. It's been a wonderful source of support and my sister Violets are all doing very well. This is an incredible journey and so much fun to have others going thru the same experiences and sharing our victories. What a positive place! Hopefully I'll be posting here more often. I'm so pumped and this is a good place to write where people won't get tired of me. LOL I LOVE MY BAND!!
