  1. I'm now 5 months out and I couldn't be happier. I've lost 82 lbs so far and though things have slowed way down, I am still losing and most importantly - NOT GAINING! It hasn't been an easy road, but I'm feeling better and better!

WOW!! You look Amazing!!!! And YOUNGER!! Keep up the good work! Cuz slow & steady wins the race ya know!!:D

  2. New NS! I can cross my right leg over my left leg and curl my right foot around my left calf!! Haven't been able to do that since I was a teenager and thats 40 some years ago !!! LOLS Aren't these sleeve thingys just GRE8T!! Have a good Memorial Day weekend all!!!

  3. I agree with apple-saucy !! I thik u r doing gre8t - when I went to see my surgeon at my 2 month check I had lost 34 lbs in 2 months. I asked how I was doing cuz I thought I should be losing faster. His response was if you were a rny patient I would expect u to lose 33 lbs in 3 months and you have lost 34 lbs in 2 months - you are doing great. Because supposedly RNY patients lose weight faster. So if you are asking me I think you are doings just FINE!! Keep up the GRE8T WORK!!

  4. I just looked and it seems like you're doing ok as far as food intake overall.

I think your surgeon may have an unrealistic goal in his head. For someone to lose 45lbs in 7weeks they would have to average a 6.5lb loss per week. Is it possible...sure...but is it reasonable to expect EVERYONE to meet that goal. ABSOLUTELY NOT! Keep plugging away, you WILL get there. It won't be on your surgeons schedule (the ass) but you WILL get there.

  5. As I have often said, the Before/During/After photos were something I could not get enough of when I was learning, researching and contemplating the sleeve.

Now I'm 7 months post-op and have lost -65lbs. I have declared myself a slow loser, but in all honesty it doesn't matter. I'm losing weight!!! How can anyone argue with that logic? I have only lost -10lbs since my 5 month post-op so that averages out to about -5lbs a month. I definitely *wish* it was more, but I am being patient and working my sleeve and I will continue to work towards goal.

As for the sleeve, I truly have not regretted anything about my decision to sleeve. It has been the best decision I have made and the best thing I have ever done for myself. It is right up there with my wedding day, births of my children, HS and college graduation, and every other major milestone you can think of. I wouldn't change a minute of being sleeved as I love my life!!!

The photo on the left was March 2010 and the photo on the right was actually at my 6 month post-op and I've lost about 5lbs since then, but it's still pretty accurate.

  7. I have read here that weight loss is fast in the beginning and that some people go through lots of sizes quick. I am a teacher so I have to show up at school looking somewhat put together. Those of you that have been through it... How do you handle that? Do you buy things that a little tight knowing they will fit u a little longer (hate that feeling of something that is too small!)? But 2 nice outfits and wash them every night? Any ideas are apprecitated.

    Khy

With spring & summer right around the corner - should be alot of rummage sales - I just got a cute pair of white capri's & a cute top for under $3.00 and you can stock up on items in smaller sizes really easily this way.

  8. I foresee a Tummy Tuck and whatever it takes to make me fall in love with my upper arms. =-)

I whole heartedly agree with ya ThatDudesMom! I would also like a tummy tuck and whatever it takes to get rid of my "BatWings" LOLS!

I went for a PostOp 3 month check-up the nurse said did you get to the support group meeting with the plastic surgeon? I said No was still laid up from surgery! She exclaimed well at Aurora BayCare we have a total body lift! How much I ask? Only $18,000 - not covered by insurance! I said OH SURE!! like thats gonna ever happen for me LOLS.

    Sounds great though!!

I am 56 years old - but I am still gonna wait I think 2 years to see IF anything snaps back! "positive thinking" can't hurt can it ? Then I will decide if I want to bother fixing anything. Right now I am just happy that everything LOOKS good in clothes! LOLS

Have a great rest of the week and a good weekend.

  9. I tend to eat out of boredom now. My mind can wander to food (ie. I used to gourmet cook French, so I may wnader into thinking about complicated sauce recipes). Ads and smells also trigger an emotional response. If I am by myself without an external stimulus I forget to eat. When I stand up too fast and get dizzy I remeber to snarf a Protein bar.

I was wondering what kind of Protein Bars you buy? Do they taste good? And how many calories and carbs do the bars contain? I was thinking about getting some for inbetween Snacks to keep up on my Protein. I know this is alot of questions but actually have 1 more. What stores do you purchase these bars at. If not too many carbs/calories I would like to get some. Thanks !!

Also great job on your weightloss!! :D

  10. Thanks guys -- I really mean it. You all don't know how much the support of this forum has meant to me. Even when I have down days, when I "don't wanna do this anymore!" I come on here and I always find good advise, positive attitudes and welcoming hearts! You guys are the best! :)

Hey Juliarh! I just wanted to comment on how GRE8T you look but wanted to tell you someting cute!

Two days ago before you posted this I was just reading all the posts and saw your picture in a reply and thought to myself BOY she really has lost some more weight cuz I could tell in ur picture. Great job. Keep up the good work!

  11. Hey everyone.. I'm on the 9th I will be six months post op. When I started my journey I was 235., as of today I am 158. I know that is a huge loss and I'm grateful for each and every pound. I am starting to get concerned because I still have 28 pound til I reach my goal. Was I supposed to be at or closer to my goal at this point? 77 pounds lost should it be more? Please give me some insight....

mskissty! I think u are doing great! I think when you lose at a steady pace you have a tendency to keep it off. Great job so far. Just keep plugging away and work that sleeve.

  12. Whoot! Whoot! 2 months Post-Op Drs. appointment today and I am down 34 LBS. since my surgery on Feb. 14th, 2011. Asked my Dr. how he felt I was doing as far as losing weight goes. He said well let me put it this way, if you were a RNY patient I would have expected you to lose 33 LBS. in 3 months and you have lost surpassed that in only 2 months and you are a sleeve patient. I could've (hugged) my Dr. he made my week. ;)

Have to see him in a month so hopefully I will have some more off by then, cuz theres no stopping me now! LOLS! :D "I LOVE MY SLEEVE"!

Hope everyone else has a GREAT WEEK also!!

  13. Sweet! I have finally gotten to onederland myself! I am almost 3 months post-op and the weight loss has been slow and steady. I am so glad the scale is moving in the DOWN direction!!! I've had to get rid of some clothes (too big)! Happy dance today!
