4th of July - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

I can't believe it!!! I FRICKIN' MADE MY GOAL!!!! My surgery was 1/29/11 and I have lost 75 lbs since I took the fateful step and weighed myself on 1/15/11. I desparately wanted to believe that I could do it but after failing at losing weight my whole life, I wasn't sure. At this point, I'm still not sure but now feel like I can do it. I believe this surgery has saved my life and am so grateful from the support I have had along the way. Bring on that Labor Day Challenge and I am going for ONEDERLAND!!!
  3. I didn't receive my passport in time to travel to Mexicali but was able to pass through the border with my driver's license, birth certificate and receipt that I had applied for my passport. Ernesto, Dr. Aceves's driver handled it all at the border.
  4. Meandmylittledog, I hate to be hot let alone exercise:) I also have a little dog. I had my surgery in January and here in Indiana, the weather was not good enough to be outside for several months afterwards. I started walking my little dog daily and now we are up to 1-1.5 miles/day. Since two weeks pre-op to now I have lost almost 75 lbs and I feel great. I even enjoy it (perish the thought:) and my little dog seems to love it too!

    CPAP Issues

I have no answers for you but am interested in any information anyone can provide. I have had my cpap for almost 2 years and have recently realized that I was extremely gassy and attributed it to the cpap but didn't realize how/why. I have lost 70 lbs since surgery and figured that I didn't want to pay another $3,000 for a sleep study but would just try and sleep without the machine and see how I did. My power was out last week due to storms so it seemed like a good time to try it out. AHH!!! Didn't sleep at all until the power came back on at 3:30a. So it seems I still need the machine but I think it needs to be adjusted as well and I'm not sure how to go about it without the sleep study. Good luck to you and I will be keeping an eye out for any answers/suggestions

4th of July - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

Diva, Labor Day seemed so quick when you first replied but then there was another post that said that's 2 months from the July 4th goal which seems a lot more doable than Halloween. So Labor Day would be my vote as well
  10. I am also living your story. Haven't had a period for years (depo-provera). One week after surgery, TA-DA, period for one week. One week off and another week later, another visit. Got another depo shot and had the month of march off. April, back again and still going on but nothing heavy or overly bothersome. No other problems though, no cramps, headaches, pains, nothing. I am due for an annual exam but can't get in until mid-July. Not thrilled but am chalking it up to years without a period and release of estrogen with my weight loss.

4th of July - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

These challenges are so good for me!! I hope that someone is starting to think about a date for the next one!!!
  12. Over the past few days I have found myself mindlessly snacking. Not hungry, doesn't taste good, just eating because it's there. We had a carry in at work and those dang bags of chips call my name and I sit far away from them!! Maybe I need more work ????

    The cookie monster....

One of the reasons I chose sleeve surgery over bypass surgery was that I was scared to death of dumping syndrome. To think that I was never going to eat something sweet again was unrealistic. It's not normal not to participate in celebrations in life. Would I ever be able to eat the whole container of ice cream again or more than one piece of cake at a time? Hopefully not if my sleeve is successful. I ate a piece of cheesecake on Easter but that's about it for desserts. I will often have a twix mini at work (only one) but I don't buy them and keep them in my house. I was sleeved 4 months ago today and have lost 60 lbs since my surgery date and feel like I am doing okay. I have not had any stalls outside of my third week. I may not be loosing as fast as others (and am so totally jealous ) but I am also satisfied with my loss and don't feel like I am depriving myself of anything! I know if I felt that way, it would lead me down a slippery slope that I don't want to go on. Good luck to you!

  17. I voted for you. Your video is fabulous! I hope you win and get everything you want!
  18. That's a lot of math for my social worker brain I used the link to see what my numbers were and based on age, ht & wt it says i burn 2340. Since you said yours was 2230, I'm just going to go by your numbers and try to burn an extra 450/day. Although if I used my brain, maybe I could burn some extra calories!! Thanks for your help!!

    Chicken salad - fail :(

I boil a chicken breast and shred it and then mix it with greek yogurt for some additional Protein. The chicken seems to stay pretty moist as well.
  20. How did you figure the math on how much you are burning without exercise? That is something I have been wondering about as well. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!
  21. My question that kind of goes along with this is, if you are eating 6-800/days are you factoring in calories burned through exercise? Let's say you eat a total of 800 cals in a day but then burn 300 through exercise, do you count that as a day of eating 800 cals or 500 cals? What are people's thoughts on how this works?
