Today I am getting SLEEVED!!!
Thanks everyone for the good wishes! This is day 2 I am still at the hotel and my doctor should be visiting me soon. I waited till 9:00 pm to take anything else but I threw up the small drink of water I took. So my hubby gave me my nausea medicine and then I took my pain medicine no problem. I felt much better last night. Now this morning I am doing the same. Just took both meds and some water. We are watching Home Alone and I'm sitting up to avoid any complications. That part, is very different. I have always been the type to eat and go lie down so this is an experience. So far I think I'm doing okay. I am just scared of over doing anything and over filling my stomach. My doctor gave me a video recording of my surgery so I can see exactly what my stomach looks like and that was very nice of him to do! I guess everyone worries alittle about how much their new sleeves can hold. I am so estatic that I have this opportunity and I have others to talk to about my surgery. We are all in this together! It is very cool! Thanks for the support and I wish everyone the best of luck as well!

Today I am getting SLEEVED!!!
Yes. I am sleeved and my husband is keeping my legs massaged! Lol I am weirded out by things though. I think the pain I am feeling is the trapped air. It feels like it is directly by my sternum and it is kind if a peircing pain. When we got back to the hotel my hubby tried giving me my pain medicine and I threw that up. I slept awhile woke up and started dry heaving. (doesn't feel good) My doctor just came to check on me and told me it was normal. I asked him if I can wait to take anymore pain medicine until 9 tonight because then I can have my first sip of water. WATER... Never realize how great it is until you don't have any! Lol He said that will be fine and checked my vitals. I don't know if I will be able to wait, obviously this is my first time having my stomach taken out, but I will find out what I can handle. Thanks for the support. I think I'm going to nap again and think about the glory of water!

My husband and I are on our way to the hospital! We have to be there for 6:00 and surgery should start at 7:00am!!! It feels like a dream... It really does. Just last month, I was getting turned down by my insurance and trying to find financing... But today I am getting my surgery! I am so excited... I just hope the healing process is okay. Well wish me luck!

HELP- List of things I will need for SURGERY!!
Oh my god it is almost here!! Today is my last day to eat anything I want before my sleeve! Tomorrow I am heading to the hotel and will be on clear liquids all day. Just now the realization of everything hit me and I started to worry. I told my husband "Oh god, I won't be able to eat good food again." He said "Sure you will! It will just be in moderation and you will feel better about yourself!" Now I am starting to get really excited because he is right! I can lose weight, I can feel better about myself, I can develop a healthier lifestyle and still enjoy food. It just won't be the center of my world anymore! It won't have such a hold over me. I feel very lucky to have this opportunity and have such a supportive husband! Just rambling on... Now back to the reason of this post: What are some vital things I will need before and after surgery! What should my shopping list consist of? Thanks!!

Unsure of Wanting Surgery
Well I don't know you personally... But I'll be your friend! And guess what, I fully support your decision to have this surgery and become a healthier person. In the end, it is your decision but don't let anyone discourage you from something really really important. My whole life my mother and other members of my family judged me and my weight! It was as if it was some horrible infection and everyone wished I would be normal! It didn't matter that I was the most beautiful, most talented, or smartest (talking about book smarts only here lol) in the family I was still considered the person with all the problems. Now that I have made the decision to lose this weight because I care about my health... My mother and everyone is trying to discourage me and say things like "why waste all that money on something that you could be doing yourself?" "you know you will have lots of nasty loose skin after" " I just don't think that is healthy you are just going to starve yourself... You should have the willpower to do it on your own!". Gosh, I wish I could go back in time and never say a word about this to anyone other than my husband. But ya deal with life as it unfolds... Stay positive andthink about the benefits of this surgery. F*ck anyone who wants you to fail no matter what you will have friends on this fourm. Good luck!

Surgery 11/29....and I am nervous as hell....
My surgery is the same day and I feel exactly the same way now. I have been very confident and optimistic until Saturday night when I had my first chocolate protein shake! It was horrible an then I started freaking out thinking... "I'm never going to have good food again." (I just made a post about protein) lol It scared me but we just have to look to the future and stay positive. I think it will be worth it in the end. Good luck! Keep me posted on your progress and maybe we can compare.

Surgery 11/29....and I am nervous as hell....
- Surgery next week... HELP with Protein!
Hi everyone, surgery is next Monday November 29,2010 I am so excited. I'm happy excited and nervous excited. I have been very positive and optimistic about this whole change of lifestyle until Saturday when I tried a chocolate protein shake. It was so nasty! I have to have protein but what will be healthy for me and not taste like hell?? Afterwards I brought my EAS protein shakes back to WalMart and ordered an unflavored whey protein case from GNC. I haven't received anything yet but I am worried about how to use it. How effective will that be in broth and with crystal light?? Is that sufficiant enough protein? Should I try something else? Are there any good protein drinks out there? I have seen ppl complain about protein shakes on this site before and thought nothing if it... I just assumed that my shakes would taste like sweet chocolate milk or smoothies. What can I do now??- Any Novembers yet?
I am getting my surgery done in November 29th!! I am so excited! I just posted in the December sleevers topic that I wanted a Nov. Date!! I am so happy! Lol- Any December Sleevers?
Hi December Sleevers! I am hoping to schedule my surgery the first week of December! Very very exciting! Lol I have the option of doing surgery Thanksgiving week but I would like to enjoy my Thanksgiving without any post op issues. (also I can eat a bit cause my Dr. Doesn't require a 2 week diet before surgery) So the first week of December is the time. I am scheduling the actual date when I meet with my surgeon next week. I'm so happy and excited. I am wishing everyone good luck!- Hideous loose skin?
Oh gosh, That is scary! I hope everything works out!- Hideous loose skin?
Hi everyone, I am getting close to scheduling my surgery date and as my surgery gets closer and closer I am starting to wonder about the glamourous topic of LOOSE SKIN. I am 20 and have a BMI of about 53-54 (depending on what scale I use) lol and my stomach is (to me) my biggest feature. I have always tried to pick out clothes to hide this stomach. I have heard that lifting weights will help with loose skin on the arms. I am assuming I can do squats to get rid of excess skin on my legs and thighs?? (any other advice or solutions are appreciated) But what about the stomach? I know that surgery would correct excess skin but honestly I am hoping that this will be my only surgery for awhile! Lol So for all you experienced sleevers what has worked or not worked for you? How bad is your situation with loose skin? What are you planning to do about it? What steps can I take to make my stomach situation better? Do creams work, what excercises help, what can I do? Any comments, advice, questions, facts, anything will help. Thanks!- Call of Duty Black Ops!!
It's really fun! I used to sit and watch but now I play. The new game is really great. My husband played the story and it is really really good. I haven't seen anything wrong with it yet. It's so interesting. It reminds me of SAW actually. Lol Honestly it is warfare. It is us fighting Russians, them fighting us, ppl fighting Germans... Etc. Either way it will be a warfare game. Yes, in the past MW games always showed Americans as the best of the best and on top of everything. Now the games are showing a more realistic side of things. We aren't always on top and mistakes do happen. I supported the game when we were on top and it showed the US army kicking as*... but I still support the game when it shows another side winning too. Either way it is the same for me. I don't think what is okay for one person is not okay for the other. I do my best to be open minded and fair in my judgement. But on another note I am finished with my pre op testing and just new to meet with my surgeron and schedule my date!!- Call of Duty Black Ops!!
We dont really play for the story. We are a multiplayer couple. I will try the story though... I am excited!- Call of Duty Black Ops!!
Call of Duty Black Ops Comes out at Midnight!! My husband and I are so excited! We both have an xbox with a live account so we have to get 2 copies! ( We have 2 of all the big big titles.) Any other gamers on here?- Louisiana Sleevers??!
Nice to meet you goodlife! How has your post-op experience been thus far? How has your weight loss been going?- Permanent Makeup
I had my eyeliner done. My mother is a licensed esthetician and does all that cool stuff. I was her guinee pig (not sure how to spell that lol) but I love love my eyeliner. As she became more experienced and started doing tons of clients I got my touch up. But it really didn't hurt with the numbing medicine. I love it and do not regret anything!- Louisiana Sleevers??!
Do you see a chat bar or icon at te bottom of your web page? I can't right now cause I am using my iPhone to reply now but when I'm not at work and using my laptop or desktop I see that little section that says chat. Maybe that is a way we can chat faster. ?? Idk we can try though. Lol- Louisiana Sleevers??!
That is exactly what I was planning to do! Weight every week or ever other week! Lol I have an office job and am hoping to return to work soon afterwards. Not that I won't enjoy a few days at home... But gotta make that money! Imao. How old are you Rebecca? I am 20 will be 21 in January and am hoping to have my surgery before my B-day! What do you do in the oilfield? Have you ever had any complications post op?- Louisiana Sleevers??!
I am going Nov. 11th to Dr. Bellenger's consultation visit in Gonzales, La. I have my funds and am ready to get this done! I don't have yahoo chat or msn.. .. (used to but not anymore) but if you are online on here we can chat. (I think?) Still trying to get used to this website I'm a newbie.) lol Were you really really weak during your post op? When did you return to work?- Louisiana Sleevers??!
Nice to meet you too Rebecca! I am very excited but nervous as well! I have been doing some studying on the subject of VSG and am getting prepared. But I am not looking forward to the healing process. I wish I could just have my surgery and feel great, get healthy and lose all my excess weight instantly! But that isn't how this works so I am getting ready for post op. It will be worth any pain and stress in the long run. I cannot wait! Have you been sleeved? Are you about to?- Louisiana Sleevers??!
Hi I am from Louisiana and soon to be sleeved! I am going for my consultation visit November 11th and hopefully will be sleeved soon after! I'm very excited!- Vertical Sleeve Surgery Years Later...??
Hi everyone, My name is Madeline. I am 20 years old and I am fairly new to this website and WLS information. I have my funds to pay for my surgery here in Louisiana and I have all the love and support I could hope for from my husband. I have been very very excited about this surgery and am looking forward to changing all my unhealthy eating habits and develope a healthier lifestyle! But as I near "the point of no return" I am just curious... What is life like for patients that follow their diet, excercise regularly and lose all the weight they wanted to YEARS LATER?? I know that information on this surgery is still new and lots of websites say "No long term information available." But to all the experienced sleevers: Have you ever heard of the staples coming out? Have you heard of the stomach leaking later on in life? Ever heard of infections developing around the staple line? What has your experience been? How long ago were you sleeved and how much weight have you lost? What complications have you experienced (if any)? What fears do you have (or did you have) after surgery? Please just share your experience. My time is coming and I want to make sure that I know every possible complication and positive thing. Thank you, Madeline- Staples come out post-op??
Thank you! I didn't understand how and why a surgeon would remove the staples from the stomach after surgery! Haha. Thank you for the answers!- Staples come out post-op??
Hi everyone, I am trying to get more information on VSG Surgery. I am wondering (I have read about this in posts....) how and why and IF the surgeon takes the staples out after surgery? Maybe these ppl were talking about staples closing up their skin? Please explain what the sleevers meant saying: "My staples come out today." Sorry if I sound crazy but I am ill informed at this point. Thanks. - Surgery next week... HELP with Protein!
