    Chron's with sleeve?

Thank you so much for your reply!!! I have only had one flare up and I am sure I will be fine. It is great to hear you are doing well. My suspicion was that all would be better with me eating less....so I am happy to hear you think so too. Goodluck and I appreciate the response.
  3. I have had Ulcerative Colitis since I was 20 but was recently "upgraded" or is that downgraded??? to Chron's disease. Anyone out there with Chron's that has had sleeve and have advice? My surgeon is a bit worried about the healing etc. and that I will need to be exacerbation free (no flare up of Chron's) because it would be dangerous. I also have to ween off my anti-inflam meds. Would love advice! Thank you in advance! Joan Sleeve scheduled for May 24th, 2011 Pre-op diet started today! Starting weight 289.7 (highest 292) Goal weight 175

How much Pre Op Diet weight loss?

Puppylovemommy...you probably are not doing the diet I am for pre-op. It is basically up to 5 slimfast drinks a day plus one meal of 5oz lean meat, 3 cups non starch veggies and a tbsp of fat. 1000 calories or so. I can only manage to get down 2 or 3 of the drinks...so I'm hitting about 700 calories. Anyone would drop fast on that I bet!!
  5. Day 3 of my pre-op diet...yes, I am starting it 8 days earlier than I have to...can you tell I am ready? I have lost 8 pounds in 2 days...which I know from previous billions of diets that is all Water weight. Just curious though...about how much is a normal weight loss pre-op? 10 percent of body weight? More? Anyone know? I am trying to be good at being happy with what happens each moment, but I also do not want to be disappointed...so I want my expectations to be rational. Any help here for how much I should expect would be great. Thanks! Joan Pre- Op diet started May 2nd Sleeve scheduled for May 24th Dr. Nick Nicholson of Dallas, TX Highest weight 292 Starting weight 289.7 Current weight 281.4

How much Pre Op Diet weight loss?

Okay...that was funny!! I am 5' 11'' and I have always joked that I wish I was taller...cuz I'd be thinner...more stretched out, you know? lol I will tend to drop super fast but I also used to gain it back too. Lost a TON of weight a TON of times like everyone else... I do stick to the plan once decided upon. I am planning on doing it until May 24th so a little over 3 weeks. Hoping to lose 30 lbs. Just making sure I wasn't going to be disappointed. Thanks for your reply!

    Surgeons in the Dallas area

I am also having my sleeve on May 24th with Dr. Nicholson at the advice of a friend who had it done last year. I also liked Dr. Harry Meyers but I am a self pay and Nicholson had financing available!!! Good luck to you! Michelle...you too! I will be a couple of weeks after you!

    Chron's with sleeve?

UPDATE 5/4/11 Gastroenterologist says I do not have to ween off meds and is not worried about healing!! YAY!!! Total relief!
  10. I am new to this forum, but have appreciated ALL that I have read. Decided I would introduce myself. I am 39 yrs old with 3 small children and a business to run. At my highest a few days ago, I was 292 lbs at 5 ft. 11 inches. NOT a great place to be on the scale! I have battled my weight since I was 12 years old...and lost until now. I AM READY TO WIN!!! I have done every diet there is...and lost on it. At last count, I have lost 60 to 90 pounds in 6 months at least 7 times over the past 12 years. Yep, I am great at "dieting." Sticking to it....that is the problem. I have been contemplating a Sleeve for 2 years and finally am ready to do it! SOOOOOO excited and looking forward to having the sleeve as a great tool to help me KEEP OFF the pounds. I know I could lose it other ways...but I look at the Sleeve as my insurance policy to keeping the weight off and living a healthy life for my kids, husband and for God's plan for me too!! Although I do not have to start my pre-op diet until the 10th, I am starting today. I am looking forward to so many things...especially the energy it takes to keep up with my kiddos! And....OH! Bending over and still being able to breathe would be great too!!! LOL! I have loved all your stories and hope to be a beacon of light on this forum for others...as you all have been for me! PS. scale reads 286 this AM on May 2nd, 2011....and so the journey begins! Sleeve with Dr. Nick Nicholson scheduled for May 24, 2011 YAY!!! Joan

    My Life Still Sucks

Hi Erin... I am so sorry that you are going through this and I will keep you in my prayers. Although I have not had my sleeve yet, I have had other ordeals that sound similar and I do have Chron's disease...which makes me feel nauseous almost every day. I also have a MS in Physical Therapy, so I have a bit of medical background. On the nausea, hydration obviously may be an issue but I also have found that a little bit of food in my stomach makes a huge difference! Also, if you are up to it...there are anti-nausea bands that you can get at pharmacies...google it first to find out where to go. They put pressure on meridian points that help decrease the nausea via your nervous system. They are worn on your forearms just beyond the wrists. Also, there are pregnancy pops....lollipops meant to help with nausea...they may help too. You can google that as well (think I got mine at Motherhood). Also, if you can...have some place to get out every day. I find that anything that is with nature, beautiful and positive gets my head straight. Also, I have found that being with people (even when I maybe don't feel like it), always makes me feel better. I tend to wallow in pain/nausea/not feeling welll when at home with just immediate family or by myself. When I'm out....I think of other things, talk to people etc. I think for me...I stop thinking about me and am focused on others. I have no idea how much you can get out right now...but it might be worth a try if you are able. It has helped me through depression as well. I hope you find comfort in the fact that tons of people are reading your story and praying as well as visualizing you as HEALTHY, HAPPY and VICTORIOUS!!! Hugs, Joan
