  10. “I think the dubstep that has come over to the US, and certain producers-- who I can't even be bothered naming-- have definitely hit upon a sort of frat-boy market where there's this macho-ism being reflected in the sounds and the way the music makes you feel. And to me, that is a million miles away from where dubstep started. It's a million miles away from the ethos of it. It's been influenced so much by electro and rave, into who can make the dirtiest, filthiest bass sound, almost lik...

  11. Happy iPhone announcement day. Ready for my next phone.

  12. I am continuing to reinvent myself. I needed a change. The weight loss has brought a new sense of being a new me, both inside and out. With that, I am going to reinvent my musical side as well. Not sure if that means a name change or a change of focus on what I want to say musically. I know that a change is coming though and I have a feeling I will like what that is for me.

  13. Up before the sun and at the gym.

  14. Went to another shelter called Beagle Buddies today. The search continues for a buddy for Herbie.

  15. Just finished a nice 3 mile hike in Eaton Canyon. Went up to the waterfalls and back.

  16. I am 4 and a half months out. No fills and 42 lbs lighter. I am not dieting per se but I am watching what goes into my body more. I thought of getting the band as more of a lifestyle change more than anything. It changed the way I look at food. I still enjoy food but no longer look for it as a source of comfort for me like I used to. I am also a lot more active then I used to be. I didn't get the surgery thinking I wouldnt have fills. I just thought I would do what my surgeon requested. The two times I saw him for fills he was fine with the amount I am losing. The last time I saw him he said he would let me on my own for a while (my next appointment is at the end of the month). I think as long as I am losing I will choose to not get fills. Hard work, determination and will power. The lap band helps but the rest is up to you.

  20. So I have a question. How are you working the band? After being on the boards for a few months now, I see a lot of differing opinions at how to work with the band. Some of you seem to be all about the restriction. To be able to not eat that much and that is how you are going to lose the weight. My concern with this method is that what happens if the band needs to be removed for a medical reason? What if the restriction just dissipated over time. What would happen then? Because really, the behavior hasn't changed. The habits are still the same. For some (myself included) the band really helped with habit modification. The lap band was my rock bottom in my food addiction and getting surgery flipped a switch in my head that I need to make better choices in life. Restriction cannot change the way you behave and look at food. Only a good long look in the mirror can do that. Restriction cannot force you into the gym. Only you can do that. I haven't had fills for this reason. I want to do this on my own. I want to build better habits and if needed I have a adjustable band in me that can help me along the way, but I don't ever want to rely solely on that. So my question is.... what works for you and why do you think it does?
