    First Fill comments.

I have nothing to say about the fill, I havent had one yet, not for another few weeks. But.... You are hysterical, I am cracking up reading your post, especially about barfing on the MD in retaliation. Thanks for the laugh!:scared:

    February 2007 bandsters!

AMBIEN! I asked my doctor to write me a script before I left the hospital. I had read on the boards that people had trouble sleeping. It has worked great for me. Not that I would advocate medication without speaking to your individual MD, but it might be something to discuss. Other comfort measures I took was, of course, the heating pad but I also made sure to leave an icepack on the port site whenever I had a chance. It definately gets better every day, so hang in there.

How would you answer these questions?

What, if anything, is too serious to joke about? People with disabilities If you could wake up tomorrow having gained one quality or one ability, what would it be? The ability to make small talk with anyone at any time Whom, if anyone, do you envy enough to want to trade lives with them? No one If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what woud it be? Pushed to go to college and spend a year abroad while doing so. If there were a public execution on tv, would you watch it? NO Would you rather arrive at a party underdressed or overdressed? Underdressed What's more important: actual experiences, or the memories that remain from those experiences? The memories In real conversations, do you tend to talk more or listen more?If you had to chose one, would you rather be blind or deaf? Listen more, rather be deaf

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi Diane, I am only one week out, I wouldnt say I have no restriction but I definately am not struggling with eating. I am full much faster than I was before banding but I have eaten a few things I thought I would never be able to eat, with no problem. That is confusing me. I cant wait to see my MD on Thursday to ask why I am able to eat bread with no problem whatsoever. ( not that I am eating it regularly but I had a business dinner and picked at a piece of bread)
  6. Hi, I was banded on the 6th and today was my first real day back in the office. Although I had to travel to another state, work during the day and then do the business dinner tonight. YUCK, that was fun trying to hide not eating and pretending to eat... LOL..... Anyway, my port site is really sore. I find it feel much better if I put ice packs on it for about 20 minutes a couple of times a day. I wasnt able to today until now and it definately feels much more sore. Hang in there, in a week we will feel normal....:biggrin1:

    February 2007 bandsters!

Good Luck on you surgery, Terriho,PurplePetal,BioMama,Debi717 Kedasmom!! Let us know how everything went. I am confused as to what I am supposed to or not be doing??? I am having absolutely no problem drinking and am able to eat more than 2 - 3oz of thick liquids at a time. My surgeon said that my band was loose on my stomach so he expected that I will not be one of those who gets away with no fills. I am not eating too much because I am keeping track on fitday. com (love that). I seem to be taking in about 900-1000 calories and getting at least 65 gms of protein. I guess we are supposed to be concerned about our stitches at this point. Is that right? My MD's instructions are two weeks of liquids, he said any liquids including applesauce. I dont feel any restriction and my lack of appettite that I had after surgery is already gone and I do feel hungrier now. Can anyone else relate? :think

    February 2007 bandsters!

I love to put a teaspoon of bakers unsweetened chocolate in my ricotta, add a tiny bit of splenda and a dash of vanilla if you want. YUMMY!
  11. Yes, sad but true no more carbonation. It creates extra gas in the stoma and can cause the pouch to stretch. You can make it flat and then drink it , but whats the poinit with no bubbles. Its not bad, i got over my diet pepsi addiction very quickly before being banded. good luck, you can do it!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi Louise, post op is not bad at all, there are so many liquids that you are allowed, in addition, you are not hungry for the first 5-7 days and have to really concentrate to get all of your liquids in. I too have a demanding job that has required travel three days per week and I am feeling fine on the liquid stage. Make sure you get your protein in and stay hydrated,, you will do great!!! :biggrin1: :biggrin1: :biggrin1: :biggrin1:

    February 2007 bandsters!

Im trying to watch my liquids and get enough. I read a post somewhere on here that a woman got dehydrated and had to go back in the hospital, I am trying to make sure I get at least 40oz of liquid in a day, water, protein shake whatever. As for the #2 question, yeah, I think we all suffer from that. Three days later I was able to, but then nothing since. I know that your organs sort of go to sleep after anethesia and the bowel is the last one to wake back up. Oh, TMI.....:faint:

    February 2007 bandsters!

Sus, congrats on losing 2kg, great job!! Ok, now I can't decide if I am hungry or if I have gas??? My stomach hurts up under my breast bone, thats not where it hurt before.... I cant figure it out. I am pretty sure I am not eating enough at this point. What is everyone else eating and how much? My food so far today. Atkins shake sipped on for two hours, 1/3 c of broccoli soup with 1/8 c melted cheddar in it, then these chocolate pb "fudge" made with protein powder that has 11gms protien per square, I had two of those. Any thoughts, anyone else having more food, less food, unable to eat??

    Banded 1/31

Amelia, I am having the same problem. Walking and the heating pad seem to help a little bit. Its a wierd burp when it happens too! Wish I could roll around on my stomach to push it out LOL! I think that would hurt! Hang in there, hopefully we will be gas free in a few days!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Wow, Gas, Gas, Gas, it is annoying. The pain from it is gone but I just feel bloated. No appetite at all! I am trying to remember to drink to not get dehydrated. Is anyone else feeling like this? I am using gas x, and a heating pad as well as putting an ice pack on my stomach when it feels uncomfortable. :faint:

    Banded 1/31

Hi Carolyn, THe gas pain is from the surgery. I was banded yesterday and that is the only thing bothering me. Definately use gas x strips and a heating pad, both help. Also try to walk around as much as possible, that helps too. I have also been burping when I stand up. It is a wierd burp but at least some of that gas is coming out. I guess?

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi Tres Chic, my doctor recomends liquids the day of the fill, then mushies for 2 days before going back to regular diet. There is a post somewhere on this site that gives very specific instructions on what to do right before and after a fill. Do a search for fill instructions.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi everybody. I am BANDED! YEAH!! My surgery was about 10:00, MD discharged me at 3pm. So far I am feeling really good. The shoulder pain is really annoying, got my heating pad on it, but my tummy is feeling pretty good. It was worse when I had my gallbladder out. I would suggest also bringing an old t-shirt to wear home. My port incision is weepy. I am sipping away on chicken broth. I asked my MD to clarify my diet, he said anything liquid I can go for it after today. Even applesauce. He then said you can even it ice cream, then laughed and said no, dont do that! :biggrin1: I hope everyone else is healing well. Gotta go make some sf jello now.....
  20. I decided to tell very few people. My DH of course, my in laws, my closest friend at work and my boss. I only told my boss because I have been traveling alot for work and have dinner out with him and my work friend so I felt like they needed to know why I would be only having Soup or mushies instead of the wine, appetizer and dinner we all usually eat! :faint: I have found that there are a lot of judgemental people in the world and have overheard people say, suck it up, shut your mouth and exercise. Of course these are ignorant people, but like some others have said, the weight loss is much slower with the band and I dont need any extra judgements! Good luck with your decision. Ultimately it is a personal one.
