  1. I was banded on May 31st, and I am down a total of 30 lbs. 12 of that was lost on the pre-op diet. I am feeling great and starting to work out more now so I'm hoping that will help as well! I had my first fill on June 28th and I am feeling restriction somewhat but I dont think I have hit my 'sweet spot' yet.
  2. I used Optifast for my pre-op diet. It surprisingly doesn't taste too bad. I blended my shakes with ice so they were a little more satisfying. I only had to do it for two weeks, but the first 3 or 4 days were the worst and after that it got a lot better. I know of other people that went to my clinic with a higher BMI than me that had to do it for 3 or 4 weeks. I'm sure it wont be easy but you can do it! It is so worth it!
  3. Hey, I was banded ont the 31st..the first 4 days of my two week pre op diet were the hardest for me, it does get easier!! For my Protein shakes i blended them with ice so they were thicker and that seemed to really help me...Not sure what you could do to spice up the broth though.. Good luck, you can do it!
  4. Good Job. You look great already!!!! I just got banded on the 31st of May...and I am down 18lbs (including the pre-op diet)..what a wonderful feeling! I am still healing but have started walking and cant wait to get back at the gym. Keep it up!
  5. good luck!! thats awesome!
  6. I was banded last Tuesday May 31st. I started my pre - op diet on May 17th, and lost 12 lbs, and I weight myself this morning and lost another 6 lbs in the week since I've had surgery, for a total of 18 lbs in 3 weeks! I know I wont lose this much every week, but I am so excited! After 3 weeks I already have clothes that are getting to big! Wow... I never thought I would have the strength to survive the liquid pre-op diet or the surgery for that matter, but I did it, and every day I am feeling better and I just cant wait until I finish healing and can start working out more and eating a bit more normal. This is one of the hardest things I will probably ever do, but so rewarding already!
  7. Hope you feel better quick! I am on day 5 post op..the first 3 days were terrible for me, but I am getting better, just still sore.
  8. I had surgery yesterday as well...hope yours went good! I am back home now and just really sore and resting.
  9. I was banded yesterday also. I am really sore, but doing good other than that. My tummy has been noisy too but i haven't ate very much. Had some soup brother today and it went down good. also a glass of milk. I am having lots of gas pain in my shoulder, but the more i walk the better that feels. Hope you both feel better sonn.
  10. Today is our day!!!! Yay!!!!!!!
  11. Yes the first 4 days were the worst..I had terrible headaches and dizziness, NO energy at all. It was rough. But after that it got easier. I have never been able to stick to diets perfectly but i think I was just in the riht frame of mind and didnt want to screw anything up for surgery so i stuck with it. And I'm soooo glad I did! Alyssa
  12. Hello, I am 23 and getting the lapband on the 31st. I am also self pay as my insurance doesn't cover. I have been on the pre-op liquid diet for a week and a half and i'm down 8 lbs. Surgery day is so close! Good luck with everything!
  13. Okay, so I started my pre-op diet on the 17th, and I have done perfect. Not one slip up. I lost 8 lbs in the first 8 days, and now the last two days my weight has stayed the same. And the last two days I have also got about an hour of exercize in while before that I wasn't exercizing. I know I shouldn't be weighing myself everyday anyways, especially BEFORE surgery, but I was just a little frustrated this morning when I didnt see the scale go down. Do you think it just needs a few days to adjust because I have beene exercizing? It's not like im gaining, I just think its impossible not to lose when on this strict liquid diet, and i was loving seeing the pounds come off. I just hope I can learn to not be so obsessed with the scale post surgery because it can be very frustrating sometimes. Any words of advice?
  14. The day before i started my pre-op I had planned to have an extravagant "last meal", however I must have been too excited/anxious for what the following days were going to bring because I could not eat hardly anything! I am on day 9 now of the pre-op diet, and so happy with how I feel already.
  15. I am on day 9 of the pre-op diet..i get banded ont he 31st, and let me tell you I know exactly how you feel. The first 4 days I thought I was going to have a breakdown, I felt dizzy, sick to my stomach, terrible headache, all I wanted to do was lay on the couch and sleep. By about day 7 I was used to it, and when I stepped on the scale and saw that I have lost 9 lbs already in one week, I was ecstatic! I figure if I can make it through 9 days, there is no reason I can't survive 5 more days and then life after surgery. I am SO excited for this. Hope your surgery goes well! I will be in just one day before you. Good luck, we can do it!!
  16. I am getting banded on the 31st..hope u are feeling better!
  17. Funny how our brain works! You would give anything for a raw veggie, and I feel like the taste of cottage cheese or yogurt would be heaven!
  18. I am on day 3 of my liquid diet...all I can have are the Protein drinks and raw veggies. I am feeling very run down as well, and a killer headache. I went for a walk last night and that seemed to actually make me feel a little better. I have surgery on the 31st. I have been putting ice with my shakes and blending them, and that seems to make them a little more enjoyable. 11 more days! I think the worst of it is over for me
  19. I get banded on the 31st. I have to say the last two days were hard, yesterday I had a killerheadache and just wanted to sleep all day! but I got myself moving and woke up this morning feeling much better. Hope day 3 is a little easier! Good Luck
  20. Hey, So yesterday was my first day of pre-op diet. I am on a two week Optifast diet, as well as I can have non-starchy vegetables. Yesterday wasn't too bad, I actually didnt feel overly hungry...just tired. Today it is almost lunch time and I am starting now to feel hungry, but get another shake right away.. I know I am going to get tired of the shakes..but I know I can stick with it. I am just so ready to do it and excited. Is anyone else on diet right now too? Any suggestions on how to make the veggies at least a little more exciting? I am also feeling very tired today..no energy..a bit of a headache. Will walking or doing some type of exercise now help this too? Any tips on how to make the next two weeks a little easier would be great! Thanks!
  21. I am so happy to see we are in this together!!!!! I go to the clinic tomorrow to meet the dietician and get my Protein shakes for the liquid diet. We are so close!!!!! We can do this! How did you guys feel just before starting the liquid diet? I had a night out with friends on Saturday..and today I just feel so hopeful and excited for the future. I thought I would be sad about giving up all the foods I like, but i actually am feeling some sort of relief...anyone else feel this way. Now we just need to survive the next two weeks! Good luck everyone Keep me posted!!!!! Alyssa
  22. Hello, I'm 23 and having the lap band done on the 31st of May. I am sooooo excited and anxious to start. Would love to keep in touch and help eachother through this!! I have about 120 lbs to lose.
  23. Hello, I begin my two week pre-op diet on Tuesday the 17th. Will let you know how I make out. Good Luck with Surgery!
  24. Hi Heather, Thanks for the reply!! I would love to stay in touch with you! How has it been since surgery? Have you been losing weight at the pace you expected? I am kind of going through this phase of wanting to eat everything that I know I can't have as of Tuesday. And then after I eat it, I feel so gross, and actually happy that it will no longer be such a big part of my life! I am really trying to change my frame of mind to "eat to live, not live to eat"...right now I think my whole day revolves around food! Yuck! Thank goodness for our children to keep us motivated. I keep my little boy very active and involved in a lot of activities, which forces me to get out and stay busy with him. I just can't wait until I have the energy to enjoy playing a game of soccer with him!
  25. My surgery is set for May 31st! Good luck with yours! Do you have to do a pre-op diet? Mine starts on Tuesday.
