    October Bandsters!!!

Good morning everyone. So this is day 2 of my pre-op diet and I am doing much better today. No hunger pains like yesterday. I made my shake with 2oz of coconut milk and 6oz skim milk and vanilla powder. It was a little thicker and was really good. Coconut milk is not bad at all. A 2oz serving has 40 cal. 4g fat 0 carbs 1g sugar and 1 Protein. My Protien powder is 110 cal. so i am under my 200 cal. limit for my shake in the morning. Hope everyone who has started their pre-ops is doing well and staying strong. If you have not started your yet its not that bad at all. Just keep you goal on your mind and you will do fine.

    October Bandsters!!!

So today is day 1 of my pr-op diet and not loving it. My morning started off running 35 min late to work. I am NEVER late. I am the one waiting in the parking lot for the first person with a key to show up to let me in. Then a lady who I work with had made chocolate chip cookies and has a huge tub of them here for everyone to share. My office is also the breakroom while we are expanding office space so they are just sitting behind me yelling at me say YOU CANT HAVE ME. I am doing ok with not having one. I want to do this right. What is hard is that I have a lady I work with who is trying to get me to eat a cookie. She hates the idea that I am getting lap band becasue her sister has failed on lap band. ( She eat whatever she wants and blames the band not working) Well she has had 5 cookies already and its not even noon. I just dont understand how someone can judge me for getting lap band when she is almost at a half dozen cookies in 3 hours. And they are big the size of you face cookies. Come on really. Did you need cookie 3 4 and 5. Sorry for the rant but I had to get it out. Hope you all are well and staying strong.

    October Bandsters!!!

So I went to an Education Class that my doctor does once a week for pre-op patients and loved it. Talked about anything and everything that i had been wondering about. I was also given a 72 page Lap Band Patient Owners Manual. I got such a kick out of it. I felt like I was back in high school and had to cram for a test. It has shopping lists for what to buy for each food stage. Menus for a week for each food stage. A what to do if this happens. Phone numbers and emails for all the staff when the office is closed. It even has a section for whom ever is taking you to and from the hospital during surgery and what they should expect. Its an owners manual for a tool. Thats all Lap band is and this is a how to. LOVE IT. Cant wate till October 6th.

Ok we have two vets in the group. I would like to know from the vets what worked and what did not work for you in the early stages of your journey. I know that I am worried about the unknown. My nerves are shot with the unknown. Maybe you can help us youngsters out and give us a heart to heart.

    Eating disorder

You have my support but I am going to be honest. You do not have control over food yet. Food still has control of you. If you are seeing a patiant with a drug problem and they no longer are on one drug but they now have a problem with a different drug. Does this person still have a drug problem? The hardest part was admiting you have a problem. Now get some help. Its ok to ask for help.

I am doing a shake for breakfast and lunch and a light dinner. I am going to costco to get premier shakes tonight. Does Sams club have vanilla? If so i am getting a membership there as well.
  21. This is really going to happen. I have been overweight my whole life and I am so close to ending my battle with it. My life is about to change as I know it. I just dont want to let my self down. I need to be here for my family. They give me strength. I can do this. The feeling of knowing that you have dreamed of something your whole life and now its about to happen is unreal. I have to pinch myself to realize that I have worked hard to get to this point and I have a lot more hard work ahead.

    I love all the options.

    Gallstones!!

have the gallblatter done first. If you have it done after the lap band you could have an infection and lap band could be taken out. I am glad i had my gallblatter done first. I will have my lap band put in on October 6th. They say the pain is about the same. I only had to take 2 days off work. It is not bad at all. I feel SO MUCH BETTER. Good luck
  24. I was approved for Lap Band. My surgery is October 6th with Dr. Stephen Malley. I will start my pre-op diet on Sep. 22nd. I am hoping that I do well with it. I am having all sorts of feelings. This is a lot to take in all at once. How did you handle all of the feelings?
