    Why am I gaining?!?!

Thanks for the response guys! I guess I'm just going to have to accept the fact that I am in a stall. I know a lot of people say you shouldn't weigh yourself everyday. So far for me, weighing myself every morning and seeing the weight come off has really given me the motivation to get through the day, and have a good attitude about it.
  2. I would do it again! I'm only a few weeks out, but its been a great experience so far. I am one of these "low BMIers" that some of you seem to despise. My BMI was 38, and I had no comorbidalties. I've seen a recent post on here say that people people who are slightly overweight shouldn't be allowed to have the surgery. But, having a BMI of 30-40 isn't slightly overweight, it's OBESE. Even if I didn't have any health issues, just being obese is amajor threat. I've seen all of my family suffer from heart disease and diabetes, so why would I wait until I have them too to get this under control?
  3. My moment was in March when I was sitting in the Denver airport waiting to board a plane. I checked facebook on my phone, and one of my friends had just written a post that said something like "I'm sitting on an airplane getting ready for takeoff and I seen a fat guy walking down the isle. Of course his seet was right next to mine. Why do I always get stuck next to the fat ones?" It was then that I realized I was that guy. The fat guy that everybody hoped wouldn't sit by them. that was just 2 months ago, and I'm already 3 weeks post op. Down 40 pounds, and loving it.

So many questions, please help me!

Sorry, I just realized that you HAD posted this in the band to sleeve revision section!

So many questions, please help me!

Jacinda....I wish I knew more, but I have never been banded. But, there is a whole section on the forum about band to sleeve revisions. I'm sure there is a ton of helpful stuff there. But, as far as knowing as when you are full: I've known so many people like you who have been banded, and they only know they are full when it comes back up. For me with the sleeve, after my small amount of food, I feel full and satisfied, just as if I had eaten a huge meal before I was sleeved. I do know of sleevers who have thrown up from eating too much, but I never have. Usually when they do, they learn their lesson on what their limit is, and it's not a problem.
  7. From what I have read, it all depends on your insurance and their requirements. Most seem to take 6-12 months. I was self pay, so it was only 2 months from when I first looked into it to when I had surgery.

    Caffine?

You're welcome. Good luck with your surgery!

    Caffine?

I think the concesus that I've seen most places (and what my doctor told me) is no caffiene for 2 weeks pre op and 4 weeks post op. Its because caffiene irritates the lining of the stomach, which can make it heal slower.
  10. Rewind....I agree, the whole system is messed up. But, if your insurance is paying 10 grand more than the self pay amount, it is the hospital that is making extra money, not insurance. It means insurance is being screwed out of an extra 10 grand.

    Driving home?

I agree with the previous posters. I don't think it's possible. At my hospital, even though I was able to walk fine, the nurse was required to wait outside with me for my mom to pull up and make sure I got in with somebody....and not driving myself. I know it will be a pain for you sister, but if she is willing to do it, let her!

    Stopped Smoking and feel great

    Great job!!

    Working out?

Like the previous poster, I am supposed to do only walking for the first few weeks. At 4 weeks out I can do normal everyday activities, but no heavy workouts for 6-8 weeks.

    Gowned up and ready!

Congrats! You'll do fine, and it'll be the best decision you ever made!

May 29th date - NERVOUS AND EXCITED

You'll do fine!! I'm a few weeks post-op, and I haven't thrown up once. The key is just not to push it. As far as broth, I'm not a big fan, so I just didn't have any. The main thing is that you get plenty of protien (protien shakes) and the rest of the liquid can be whatever you want. Water, Jello, crystal lite, etc. Good luck, and don't be nervous. It is so worth it!

Before and After - One Year Later

Great job! Keep up the good work, and you'll be at your goal before you know it!
  17. Something like this could be a great option. If my hospital didn't offer such a great payment plan with no interest, I was ready to get a home equity loan, which wouldn't be due for 5 years and only 5% interest. Best of luck to you!
  18. I was just sleeved two weeks ago as a self pay patient in Nebraska. The total will be about $14,500. That includes the hospital, surgeon, anesthesiologist, radiology, and lab. The largest cost to the hospital is $10,000 and they have a program that lets me pay just $150/month. There is no way I could have done it otherwise.

    Pre-Op Shave

I am really hairy, so before I went in I cut it all off with clippers, but didnt shave it completely. I thought they might shave the incision sites, but they didnt do anything. My mom works in surgery, and she insisted that they dont like it when people shave themselves, because they can get knicks that can get infected. Thats why I used clippers instead of a razor.

Bro, you look amazing! I am just 2 weeks post op, and I also started at 300 pounds. I hope in three months that I'm as super sexy as you!

Hello Revtoby! I just ran across this post, and its a couple of years old, but I thought I would see how you were doing. I am in full time ministry myself, so I know that it is tough to find funding. I hope everything worked out for you!
