I am still on liquids but when I am further along I would love to try this. I hope my body can tolerate it. It's so yummy!

Hi thanks for adding me as a friend! How has your band process been? What stage are you on?

I love cheeseburger pie. My mom makes it. But does the bisquick go down ok? I heard that doughy bread types of food makes most people stuck.

I will soon be entering my puree stage of my post op diet. I think fruits will be easy it puree and make them taste good. It is the protein I am concerned about. I will have cottage cheese and yogurt however does anyone have any suggestions for pureeing meats? My dietitian recommended using chicken with some broth but I don't imagine how good that will taste at the constancy of applesauce. She did say that I could take meatballs or meat loaf and puree with sauce which doesn't sound too bad, but I have heard some people have a hard time getting beef down. Are there any baby foods that anyone can recommend? Lol it sounds so unappealing but I am getting very hungry on my liquids. Also is tuna and egg salad allowed at this stage? I see some people separate puree and mushies? It looks like my dietitian combined puree and soft food stage. My last questions is what veggies do people like pureed? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hi fellow April bandsters. I was banded on the 19th and so far lost 9lbs. The fist couple days after surgery I felt very uncomfortable. The gas pains were worse than incision pain. I had that feeling of chest pain when ever taking a deep breath and in my ribs as well. Everyday seems to get a little better. I am sooo glad I took 2 weeks off from work because my job is pretty physical. I work at a group home for teenage boys. My doc has put me on a 3 week liquid diet. I have noticed I have had some food dreams but I don't feel the normal hunger that I'm used to. My stomach grumbles and gurgles ALL the time! I hope this goes away soon. Anyways, I wish everyone the best of luck on our new journey of health and happiness. Please feel free to email me or add me as a friend. I would love some friends to talk with and share our experiences with.

Night Shift Workers???!!!
Lady Lexie replied to betheboo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work for a group home... Occasionally I have to work nights but I have not done this in a while or since i have been banded. I can only imagine this would be torture. The later I stay awake the more my stomach grumbles and wants to eat. I would suggest just doing a protein shake to ease some of the hunger. Good luck! -
how long did you have to do the liquid diet?
Lady Lexie replied to cantwaittobeskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 week liquid diet for me. Then puree and soft foods week 4. Then slowly introducing regular foods. -
My doc prescribed me a chewable prenatal vitamin to take as my multivitamin. Doesn't taste great but I heard they are great for skin and hair and I have no complaints.

Surgery 4-28, Camping 4-29

Yes I was told no driving for a week. Today is a week for me since my surgery. I am feeling pretty good but still a little tired from the liquid diet and chest pain from air put in from the surgery. I am hoping to get out tomorrow. -
Since I have not yet advanced from the liquid stage, I am curios to know how everyone's experience is with not drinking while eating. It seems like it would be so difficult at first. Do you ever get used to it. I tried it here and there during pre-op but I hated it.does anyone still attempt to drink while eating? Does it make you sick if you do it or just passes the food into the stomach quicker (allowing more room to eat more)?

Eating without drinking
Lady Lexie replied to Lady Lexie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the answers! It helps to hear all of your experiences and tips so that I can prepare my self for when the time comes. -
Good for you and good luck. I was banded a week ago and most of my pain is gone. Just experiencing some discomfort from the air they fill you up with. That's probably the pain you feel in your shoulder.

Eating without drinking
Lady Lexie replied to Lady Lexie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol sounds easy but I'm talking about the habit. I always feel thirsty when I eat and want to wash the food down with a beverage. -
why does my chest hurt sometimes when I eat?
Lady Lexie replied to tnt21705's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded last Tuesday and I woke up with sharp pain under breast bone area yesterday and today. I had some pain in upper chest before. I called my doc's office and spoke with the nurse. She said it could be the air/ gas from surgery moving in my body. I guess everyone is different. Some people don't even get the gas pains. I hope it goes away for us soon! -
In need of help! newly banded
Lady Lexie replied to Lady Lexie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for your responses. It's comforting to know I'm not alone as I enter this exciting yet confusing chapter in my life. This morning tried to switch back to the clear Isopure to see if this would make a difference. By noon I had 2 episodes of diarrhea again. So i finally took an imodium and I have been drinking milk with a little bit of soy protein powder mixed in. So far so good. -
Hi everyone I was banded on the 19th and just recently started experiencing some issues. I warn you that this is a little gross but I hadn't had a bowel movement until yesterday. Unfortunately it was diarrhea and it happened about five times. I called my surgeon this morning to ask him what he thought was wrong and what I should do. He said that my body may be having problems adjusting to the hight protein diet. He didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with the protein shake I have been drinking. He told me to stop drinking the shake and start drinking milk instead. This concerns me a lot. I mean obviously I don't want the diarrhea any more as it is awful and dehydrating, but is milk enough to sustain my body for the 3 week liquid period? Has this ever happened to anyone else?
