  1. Hey September Bandsters,

I haven't been on for a long time. Life has been crazy, between working full time and two kids and don't forget a fiancee and house and........ LOL!!!!!! I was doing so good but I have hit some plateaus and of course am stuck in one now. I know I haven't been exercising like I should--having a hard time finding the time. I have had two fills and after this last one, the weight isn't coming off and I had a couple of stuck episodes. I know I was eating too fast, since I am always rushing around. I only have about 1000 calories a day, so I know I am not eating too much. I am hungry ALOT

This just gets frustrating! Hoping everyone is doing good! I hope next time I log on I can tell you things are better. Wishing warmer weather comes quicker so I can get outside and get moving!

    Keep up the good work!

  2. Oh, I know exactly what you are talking about. Its not the same as it was right after surgery cause of that gas they put in. This is after you are done eating or during and these burps come from the pit of your stomach. I sound like a man--not cute. I am thinking its a sign from my body telling me that its had enough. I don't really know

  3. I had my first fill today too under fluro. Very weird

Keeping my fingers crossed that this jump starts weight loss again, cause it had really slowed down and I am disappointed.

liquid diet today for me too. Thank the Lord its only for one day.

    Good luck

Been gone for awhile anyone living back East knows how crazy it has been with the snowstorm. Anyway my one daughter her husband and 4 kids moved in for a week till there electric came back on. Was nice and was still able to watch my food. Had this been presurgery everyday would have been a party and I would have gained a good 5 lbs at least in the time they were here. Had my first fill today. It was so easy and interesting. I didn't feel anything and loved watching how it works. I only got 1cc and of course I'm on liquids so not sure how it will work as far as the tightness. Glad to be back hope all is well and doing great !

  4. Had my first fill today. Down another 2 pounds for a total of 23. I was banded on 9/29. The fill was under flouroscopy. It didn't hurt but was just weird feeling. The Dr. put Fluid in but had to remove some when the xray showed that nasty contrast didn't want to go down.

I have to admit that I am really happy the weight is coming off, but I really thought it would come off quicker. It is very frustrating to only hear 2 pounds when you have been following the "diet" to a T

Sorry just needed to vent, kinda aggrevated today!!

Liquids today isn't helping with the hunger either.

Wishing all of us continued success in this LONG journey with many bumps in the road.

  5. Hope you feel better!!!!!

I had my 1st fill last Friday. It wasn't bad at all. The only problem was waiting for the doctor. He was hung up in surgery. I watched the yucky drink go down. It was quite awesome. I only got 1 cc of Fluid. He put in 2 ccs, but the drink wouldn't go down good, so he drew 1 cc out. It feels fine now. Was back on liquids through yesterday, and am now on soft foods until Thursday when I can eat whatever.

The only really bad thing going on right now is the fact that I have bronchitis. Went to my PCP last Thursday and got some good antibiotics and cough medicine. I'm still feeling really bad though. Came to work today but probably shouldn't have. May stay at home tomorrow.

    Everybody take care! Peg

  6. I was banded on Sept.29 and I am having my first fill on Nov. 8th. I have been slacking on drinking the Protein shakes--I hate them. I am only getting in about 6-8 Tablespoons of food. Mostly Protein and then maybe a vegetable. I usually only eat 3 meals a day, maybe a sugar free popsicle at night.

I was wondering if anyone has a problem getting cold things down. I was having TONS of pain in my chest and figured out it was the cold Water I was drinking. I have now switched to room temp. Water but I am dying for ice cold water.

    Thanks, Erika

  7. One week since surgery! I thought I would be feeling much better but not really what I was expecting. I did way too much today and is suffering cause my left side hurts to move! I have progressed to pureed food. What a wonderful feeling not to be on only liquids. I don't know if everyone else experiences this, but anytime I eat something I have to burp and I mean burp--loud and long.

On the positive side between the one week pre-op diet and the week after surgery on liquids as of yesterday I am down 16 lbs---Yeah!!!!!!!!

  8. The berry is pretty good. Mixed with Water its more like a juice.

I am getting tired of the sweetness of some of them. Who would have thought, lol.

I bought sample sizes of quite a few! I go to a nutrition shop close to my doctors office and the people there are great

I tried Syntrax nectar in the peach flavor and mixed it with 8oz of water--Terrible. It didn't mix well and had a very strong flavor. My doctor only wants 100 % pure whey Protein isolate-no blends or from concentrated. It limits a lot and I found them to be more expensive.

I am trying Dymatize ISO-100 in Gourmet berry today for lunch, I will let you know how it is

  9. I have been on this pre-surgical diet since last thurs. Surgery tomorrow and then a week of liquids. Refried Beans with cheese sounds sooooo good and I am not even crazy about beans!!! LOL

I am getting nervous about having surgery tomorrow. I still have to pack my bag for the hospital. Thinking good thoughts

I love hearing about everyones stories, Thank You All September Bandsters--Looking forward to seeing you guys on the other side.

  11. I found a site for weight loss recipes. It is www.skinnytaste.com!! They also list the serving size, with calories, fat and Protein, which helps. I started the pre-surg diet today so a cheeseburger sounds delicious. But I will stick to Protein Shakes and raw veggies--cheeseburger still sounds better-lol.;) Glad you are feeling better!

I hope everyone is having a good day and that those who have recently been banded are recovering well. Today is day 3 since being banded. I slept in the bed last night versus sleeping in the recliner. I slept with a pillow on my tummy to prevent the cats from jumping there as they are inclined to do especially when they think it's time to get up. :) Pain is getting better. The more I move the better it gets.

My doctor has me on a 3 week post op liquid diet. It seems the diet preferences of each doctor vary. I get a little hungry between meals but it is bearable. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow and hope I will be getting my first fill.

I have been having a lot of food cravings as well. I really want a cheeseburger. I have been thinking about where to go for recipes once I graduate to regular foods. Does anone have any suggestions or know of a good site for recipes?

  12. I am having surgery Sept. 29!!! Starting the pre op diet tomorrow. I have to admit I am getting really nervous. Not too much about surgery itself but about failing. I am afraid of failing like I have failed other diets. I am assuming this is normal, but man does the brain play games. This group has been wonderful and I hope we continue supporting and checking in with one another. Erika

  13. Its a game these insurance companies play!! I swear they think if they give us enough S***, and make us really frustrated, we will just say forget it! Keep on them and keep appealing. Not sure where on this web site I saw someone mentioning a specific lawyer who specializes in this.

By the way, what ins. co is doing this? Just wondering since I am in process of submitting everything to mine for approval.....Good Luck

  14. We have the same surgery date!!!! Well hopefully as long as my ins. approves it and on time. I still have my upper endoscopy next week, stress test on Sept 9 and pre-op hospital test on Sept 16.

I start my diet on Sept. 22

Good luck and I would love to help each other through this process!!

    Erika

    Hello,

After a year of jumping through hoops for the ins. company, I finally got my surgery date--Sept. 29th.

I have my pre-op class on Sept. 7th.

Appt. with Nurse Practitioner and lab work on September 13th.

Start liver shrinking diet on Sept. 15th.

I'm so excited that things are ready to happen. I'm sure September will fly by.

Good luck to everyone who is being banded in September..

    Peg

  15. My surgery date is Sept. 29, pending approval from my insurance. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. My orginial date was the end of July but due to work circumstances I couldn't take any time off. I feel like I lost some motivation since having to wait and with all these pre-op tests that need to be done. So glad to connect with people on here facing the same issues. Thanks to all of you!!!!!

  16. I have been doing the exact same thing!!! I try really hard and I am good for a few days and then I mess up and keep messing up! You would think that I will never be able to eat again at this rate :( I have all thee foods and restaurants I want to go to before my surgery Sept. 29. Thats such not a good and healthy way of thinking. I really know better, so what the heck is my problem?

  17. Upset with my dr.'s office!! I received a bill from them for over $400.00. Listen to this, so I called them and my insurance. The doctor is a participating doctor but the group is not and thats how they bill :( Now I am wondering what to do, find a different dr. or fight with them and ins.????

  18. You have made one of the biggest decisions of your life, to get banded!!! Don't let these bumps in the road, make you lose your sight at your goal. I can completely understand how you are feeling. I just found out my surgeon's group is "out-of-network", but him personally is "in-network". What it boils down to is, if insurance co. pull this crap, many people will just give up and the ins. co saves ALOT of money. Keep pushing and Good Luck!!!!!
