    Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery Abroad

That's why I'm not revising the stomach. The hunger issue will come back eventually. I'm close to getting the DS, at least with that you eat high protein and full fat food (still low carbs though). It is a complicated surgery and you need to stick to taking your vitamins and getting in 100g protein per day (possibly more for guys, I'm not sure). If you're interested there's more info on http://www.dsfacts.com/

    Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery Abroad

Yes, with the sleeve people generally get 6 months - 2 years where they don't have to deal with hunger. The hunger will come back though. With the plication I only lost mine for a few days.

    Pre Operation Status for MEXICO

I'm seriously looking at revising to the duodenal switch (DS) for just the intestines and leaving my stomach alone. I've spoken to a couple of well regarded surgeons who will do it. The DS is a big big decision and something I've been looking into for almost a year (not long after I got the plication as I didn't have much restriction from really early on).

    Pre Operation Status for MEXICO

I can't recommend plication. I had the op nearly a year ago and I don't have much restriction. Personally if I could do it over I'd go with the sleeve as that seems to have better weightloss. One stat I didn't know is below. overall weight loss was considered satisfactory in 78.6% of the patients who underwent gastric plication and in 97.5% of those who underwent sleeve. http://www.skrekas.n...mstatistics.htm

    Left Upper Abdomen Pain

Nope. I had a pain there early out and I attribute to being referred pain from elsewhere, but mine went away by the time I was about 4 weeks out. I'd check with your doctor just ensure it's nothing major. KUP.

1 Week Out Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery

I think somewhere in that thread someone said Michelle was WASabubblebutt and she, I believe, works for Dr Aceves. She's obviously very passionate about what she believes, which I understand, but I think a softer approach often gets listened to better.

LOL you read the whole way through that thread then. Michelle's not posted on VST since then.

4 new holes in my stomach :-(

    Glad you're finally feeling better!
  9. I've gained my weight back. I get hungry just as before and I really don't have much restriction. I'm sure they still get cravings with the sleeve, but less sleevers seem to struggle with hunger (that's not to say that there still aren't lots out there dealing with hunger, the numbers appear to be lower from what I read on forums).

1 Week Out Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery

I've not had any complications and haven't needed any checkups. I knew that by going to Mexico I'd be on my own post op. And yes it's completely normal to have a list of foods you want to eat. Scrambled eggs were the first thing I had when I got to two weeks and was permitted to have them. I'm guessing that my doc took the cautious approach about re-introducing foods as he knew that I couldn't afford to have any issues being as I was going back to a different continent shortly post op.

1 Week Out Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery

I'm surprised he's doing plications given what he wrote here http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/14816-gps-update-important-new-information/page__p__125871#entry125871

1 Week Out Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery

I was on Clear Liquids for one week and then full liquids for a second week (ie anything you can drink through a straw). So soup and milk were on the menu in week 2. I got to go on mushies at week 3.

1 Week Out Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery

I remember the gas pain when burping - it was awful. It will go in the next week or two. Everything's really swollen and sore right now, but the pain will go rest assured!
  14. I agree with what both of you are saying.

4 new holes in my stomach :-(

I didn't notice that you actually have gallstones. In any case the others seem to have given you good advice. Good luck and I hope things work out for you.

    Lapband Plication Newb

Ah, OK yeah, GB removal shouldn't really be necessary when performing the plication.

    Lapband Plication Newb

That sounds very odd. Who's your doc? I know it's standard to have your gallbladder removed during Duodenal Switch surgery and DS patients are generally very heavy.

1 Week Out Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery

I can't really say what 'normal' restriction should be, but VSGers seem to have far more restriction for a lot longer. I often read about VSGers posting that they're struggling to eat whole egg, although it is important to see how far out they are when they say (I didn't pay much attention to that sort of thing pre-op). I'd say I can eat maybe 80% of what I could pre-op. If I have a meal I'll eat the meat but won't really touch the rice or potatoes (just a token amount so I don't end up craving it). I remember when I was a month out I could eat a whole WW ready meal and still feel a bit hungry. I'm getting a barium swallow in a couple of weeks, so that'll be interesting.

    Post Op eye problems

Splenda should be OK if it was OK for you before. Some argue that artificial sweeteners make you crave more sweets, so you should watch out for that. I sometimes have stevia as I don't get on with artificial sweeteners (but they caused me problems pre-op and has nothing to do with this surgery).

    Post Op eye problems

Sorry my eyes have remained more or less the same. You should mention it to your doc just in case it's a side effect of your meds. I enjoyed chamomile tea post op. I don't drink it normally but I quite enjoyed having it warm. Please let us know what's up with your eyes when you find out. All the best. TJ

Bigger than your biggest plication scar... what a bummer!! At least you got that sucker out though!

4 new holes in my stomach :-(

BTW hopefully your scars will fade. Four out of my six plication scars are barely visible (and I don't tend to heal super well with scars). The big one a couple of inches above my navel is still dark and noticeable as is a small one on my right. How big were your incisions in relation to your plication incisions?

4 new holes in my stomach :-(

Hi chowchows, I'm glad they finally sorted you out. Was your GB problem related to your plication? Do you have to go easy on fat consumption for the first weeks? I hope your incisions heal nice and quickly!

    Nexium Mups

Oh well I never suffered reflux so I guess it didn't really matter much, that is absolutely how they had me take them in hospital though.
