    Made to Crave

    Are you referring to WeighDown?

    Hospital Bill!!! How freaking insane!!!!!

    Yikes, that's scary!!

    Sleeve stretch?

Only fizzy ones as far as I know. I think you'd have to be drinking really fast to stretch it with regular liquids. Eating to the point of vomiting will also increase the chances of your pouch being stretched.
  4. Sorry, I just re-read my post and it sounded a bit rude on second read... Crystal Light (or something like it) was meant to be just a suggestion, but it didn't read that way second time round!

    Surgery in Mexico

I'm jumping too, as I'm interested in everyone's replies.

Not as severe as I thought

I'm finding that the plication hasn't had too much impact on me either (I can eat a lot more than I thought I'd be able to).

    New Post op

You're really early out, so concentrate on liquids for now and don't stress about protein too much just yet. When you're on mushies you can try yogurt. People generally tolerate better fermented milk products even if they have problems with milk.
  8. Can you find out from them what issues they have? Other than the soda of course. BTW have you tried Crystal Light? I like the apple flavour one, so you can start having that and let them know that you're off the fizzy stuff already. Good luck.

    Could use a little encouragement

36lbs in 2 months - that's great. Keep doing whatever you're doing as that's good progress - ~4lbs/week! When you were waiting for WLS I'm sure it felt like it'd never come round and it'll be the same with your other upcoming ops.

HAS ANYONE HAD ANY LEAKAGE WITH THE SLEEVE

Tiffykins had a band to sleeve conversion so I think that may have complicated things. Hopefully you'll be OK.

    Protein Help PLease!!!

You'll be on mushies soon so don't worry until then - a lot of people struggle in the early days. You'll then be able to have scrambled egg and yogurt (Greek yogurt has double the protein of standard yogurt), so that should help. You'll probably be OK with some fish too.

    I'm in the CENTURY CLUB!!!

Awesome, BTW I like the new profile pic!
  13. Has anyone done a pouch test? What did it involve? How did you get on/has it helped and how long for? Anyone curious about pouch tests can get some info here www.5daypouchtest.com

    Anyone done a pouch test?

What did you to cheat if you don't mind me asking? I was thinking of maybe using Slim Fast as I don't get on with powdered drinks - in your opinion might that work? Was the idea to just do a liquid diet?

    Home again, home again..

Congrats Melanie - I'm glad to hear you're doing so well. Dr Watkins posted his discharge sheet on this link, but you should follow what your surgeon advised you to do. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/10374-the-rate-of-weight-loss/page__p__97979#entry97979

    The scale

Are you moving it on the floor? If you're on an uneven floor, I find that gives very random readings. I'd think the batter should work or it shouldn't, not give a crazy reading... maybe you need a new scale!

    Sleeve PLication on 1/15

I stayed in 3 nights post op, as I was feeling pretty bad, but I felt LOADS better on day 4. Just a bottle of water should be fine. I think it took about an hour to get back to San Diego, as the taxi driver will have an express pass. Jus sip, sip, sip. All the best and I look forward to hearing how you get on after!

Please read my appeal letter & critique

Not a criticism I'm afraid, but it's well written (grammar, no typos, etc) and to the point. I hope it works and that you maybe get something a bit more constructive from someone else.

    Lump in my throat

Weird - I've not had that ever. Docs like looking down throats so it's still worth seeing yours if you can.

    Lump in my throat

I didn't have a sore throat at all, although I have had a sore throat with other non-abdominal surgery. It usually went away after a week though. Sounds like your throat may have got scratched during the op (they put a tube down your throat). Why don't you see your family to doc and have them check it out, as 4 weeks out sounds like quite a long time to still be feeling sore. You might just need something simple like a course of antibiotics. I'm sure it's nothing major, but it's worth having it looked at. HTH!
  22. Hi Tara! Congrats on the approval. This video scared me off having my bowels operated on At least you can say you're making an informed choice after seeing a clip like that. Good luck with whatever you do!

    Got my date

Good luck - less than a month to go!
  24. Hi Kya, see this post for choccie related stuff http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/12244-32-of-the-yummiest-grams-of-protein-in-one-sitting/ I don't take anything to sleep at night, so don't know about that. My hubby made a similar comment to yours and you just have to try and re-assure them, sadly you don't get the surgery and wake up looking like a supermodel, more's the petty!

Serious doubts after visit with surgeon (long)

Oh, OK then according to the figures I've seen DS is the most effective WLS, so he's correct in what he says. I believe it's fallen out of favor tho due severe mal-absorption (and frequent diarrea). I can understand why people go for it as the average Excessive Weight Loss (EWL) is 80%, whereas other WLS is around 70%. This youtube clip scared me away from surgery to do with bowels It's a longish clip, but keep with it - Amelia's a sweetie and I think I've seen all her clips even tho she's an RNYer (BTW she was quite a long way out from surgery when this happened).Just keep reading and researching, so you can make the most informed decision you can.
