I have not been diagnosed yet. I have an appointment with the rhuemotologist(sp) on 4/13 and I am scheduled for surgery 2/19. My primary thinks I have it and I so does my dermotologist but I am waiting the second set of test. I don't know if it matters or not and just wanted to know if anyone else on here has lupus and felt that it made a difference in recovery or the surgery in general. I have not told the surgeon. I am waiting for the second blood test to come back which I should have gotten today. If they come back the same as the first I will obviously tell him but I am hoping its just a vitamin D defiency that they have already put me on meds for.

Am i the first to fail the sleeve surgery??
wareagle40 replied to vicki s's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree about the inches. Every diet I have ever been on I lose a lot one week and nothing the next but the week I don't lose I lose inches. If you measure yourself weekly I think you will be surprised. I don't know why it takes my body a week or 2 to catch up on weightloss but everyone is different. -
through all my reading of this website I have never seen anyone mentiong this before. I just emailed my facilitor to ask about Dr. Rod. However, what is the 40,36, or 32 that you are talking about.

Serious doubts after visit with surgeon (long)

He is incorrect about no insurance in alabama covering wls. I know several people who had it. Of course mine doesn't. UAB is good but I would get a second opinion if your insurance will cover it. -

I do understand your fustration after reading other results on here. But you need to keep in perspective that is 16lbs that's not coming back and even if you continue losing only(in your view not mine) 16lbs a month that is almost 100lbs in 6 months. I have never had that kind of results with every weight loss program out there. So look at the big picture and keep you head up you are headed in the right direction. I am having surgery with Dr. Rod on 2/19. Does he know what caused your complications? Was it something preexisting or just random? Kind of personal but how much did you have to pay for the additional days? I am getting pretty close to depleting my savings with this if I had to come up with another 5000 grand I'm not sure what would happen. -

When your up to it tell me everything. I am also have surgery with Dr. Rod on 2/19. You don't hear as much about him on here as you do the Mexicali Drs. Although everything I have heard about him was good. Tell me about the facilities. -
the pre-op diet my doctor gave me said be sure and count only net carbs. I don't really know how to do that but the adkins tells you net carbs. It may show 25 carbs on the back but the front says only 2 net carbs. so you may want to google net carbs and find out how to figure that. Hope that helps.

I know last week Publix had adkins boxes 2 for 10.00. That's 10-12 bars depending on the ones you get. I like adkins because it tells net carbs. I am loving this pre-op diet. My surgery is not till 2/19 but I started the pre-op as soon as I scheduled. It's 2 weeks tomorrow and I have lost 10lbs. I am getting a big head start on the weight loss and my liver should be the size of my big toe being on the diet for 6 weeks. I don't think it's hard either. I bought some Protein shakes from GNC the other day bogo 50% and they are awesome. sorry I don't remember brand but I told the girl what I was doing and they are the one's she recommended. Also, at GNC if you get the gold card the first week of every month you get 20% off your entire purchase.

My BCBS said they would not pay for any weight loss surgery or any complications arising from weight loss surgery.

ANYONE APPLIED FOR LIFE INSURANCE SINCE THE SLEEVE?
wareagle40 replied to pumpkin07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked mine who's with Transamerica if I could rewrite mine when I lose the weight. He said absolutely and I quit smoking in October so he said to wait till October and get both discounts. It will cut my premium from 125 a month to 55. That's alot of savings. -
Has anyone with Lupus has vgs
wareagle40 replied to wareagle40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See there... I may not even have it... I really have done no research at all about it. I have a rash and elevated ANA's and chronic pain. However, the chronic pain has greatly improved since my Vit D went up. So they reran test last week said they would have results today and biposied the rash. Don't really know what that would tell them but I was just wanting to get prepared with the sleeve if it comes back as a possibility again. If I can even have the sleeve if they continue down tht path. -

If my ana's come back elevated again I will tell him. The is a recent thing and it could just be a fluck with the test. If it is confirmed I will most certainly tell him. I just don't want to jump the gun and the first test results be wrong. I just want to know if anyone else has it and how their surgeries went. But rest assured if it is confirmed I will tell even if I can't have the surgery. I'm just hoping they were wrong and never have to worry about it. And I just turned 40 and have no other health issues besides the Vitamin D definciency. My pcp said today wouldn't it be great if that was all that was wrong. Because since I have been on 40,000 iu a day of Vitamin D I feel great. So it possible a misdignoses. -
I had the bad pain from gas when I had my gallbladder taken out a few years ago so I know what to expect. At least I will know what it is this time. I was home by myself just miserable popping pain pills as often as I could. Finally fell asleep and was fine and went to my son's football game the next day. So hopefully, this gas will be the same. I have not had surgery yet. I am scheduled for 2/19

Me to.. I am ready. I have decided to self pay and am going to Mexico. I have researched and researched till my heads about to explode. Just left my primary doctors about another issue and asked the nurse what she thought. she said Go for it. A lot of people do it but don't tell the doctor till you come back. lol.

Anyone else NOT losing any weight on pre-op diet?
wareagle40 replied to DougNichols's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost 9 lbs in 9 days. I bought the Protein shakes from the grocery store whey Protein 32 grams of protein 3 grams of carbs and make my own protein shakes. I have protein for breakfast, apple for snack, Atkins bar with 12 grams of protein for lunch, apple for afternnon snack and fish or chicken with green vegatable for dinner. 3 oz of meat and cup of vegatable. Basically I can eat anything that is on adkins as long as not fatty because it's supposed to be a liver shrinking diet. If hunger in the evening I will eat another bar. or a Protein Drink mixed with Water instead of skim milk. Oh yeah my morning one is mixed with skim milk. I feel great and the weight is falling off. Also, this may be TMI but my bowel movevements only happen every few days but I know on those days I am going to lose weight if you know I mean. I have alwasy suffered from irritable bowel but not on this diet. Hope that helps. Tara -
2/19 Dr. Rod.
-
I had my vit d tested a few months ago and it was 12. I am on 50,000 IU a day to be retested in 4 months. I never considered it would be a problem at surgery. I guess I should have rechecked before I go to Mexico. I had no idea it could delay the surgery.
