  1. Been sleeved about 1 month so far 10/3/11. Doing awesome. Starting weight was 247, had type 2 diabetes for 13 yrs since pregnancy of first child, on meds for blood pressure, cholesterol. Surgery was done at Reading Hospital, Pennsylvania by Dr. Ceppa. I am now at 224lbs. I had to post (my first) because this forum has been a life saver for me. I am able to get on here, and look just about anything up. Everyone who had previously posted, was able to answer so many questions. I encourage anyone thinking about getting the surgery to become a member. Especially if you do not know anyone with the sleeve. Very comforting!

    6Months Post Op Yesterday!

Congrats! Keep up your good work
  5. Well, in 6 days i will be a year out of surgery. I am still diabetic, although the amount of insulin I am on is significantly less than what I was taking. My endo is going to put me on pills! No more insulin and needles! I'm down 92 pounds, with 15-20lbs to go. I will ge there, this has been one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I admit I could have never have done this on my own. I think for the first time I actually like what I see in the mirror, and to know what it fe...

  6. This was just what I needed today! This weekend, going out got me off track. Im five months out. I love the word 'fight' that u used. I needed this reminder to keep on track and fight for my health, my goal and my happiness. Thanks!

    My "large" Size Nsv

Congrats! Cant wait until i get there! All these years walking by all the stores i would love to shop in! Ps. I love the sweatshirt & color!
  8. Thank you everyone, I really don't want to compare myself to anyone else, as much as I'd like a guideline or something. Like I said, the majority of the WLS people I know had gastric bypass and their weight loss is faster than vertical sleeve, so I guess I just wanted to know if others were like me...I am really excited to lose this weight. I feel the 'real' me is just dying to come out, and I'm on my way. My diabetes is the best its been in 13 years and I'm only 32! I love this site, the people on it. Its definitely been a journey, one that I am glad and thankful to be on. So thanks again, and best wishes for your journeys, health & happiness!
  9. Im almost three months out. I don't know anyone who has had the gastric sleeve surgery. Everyone that I know either has the band or has gastric bypass. So my question is, what is the weight loss for three months? I asked my Dr. but he said I'm fine but didn't really give me a number. I'm down 39lbs. But what is the average?
  10. I am almost 3 months out, and must confess I still eat too fast! The left hand idea is great, and i'm going to try that! Glad to hear you are positive, I like looking in the mirror too and seeing the changes here and there around my body. Congrats on making it this far with a positive attitude!
  11. Congratulations! That is awesome and look forward to the day that I can say this!
  12. Good luck! Prayers sent ur way! I'm 2 months out & it has gone so fast already. You will b great!

    The smell and the aftertaste!

It can be exspensive, but its not forever & my food bills are cheaper. I go to a fitness store & purchase Isopure drinks, and they saved me. After surgery, I tried (and wasted) any type of shake mix but the smell and taste I just could not tolerate. There is 40grams of protein in each drink. Maybe try a few flavors and see if they are something that agrees with you. Good luck b/c just that smell nauseated me! Lol

    Spit - dont swallow!

This is going to sound really bad...With Halloween just passed, my two sons came home with HUGE bags of candy! I know I shouldn't eat that junk. But---I love me some twix so I took a bite, chewed it and spit it out! LOL! All I wanted was a taste, and I was good to go!

1 month out! I did it!

My Dr. Told me that it may start off slow, so although I would LOVE to see more come off, I guess ill just be patient for now. Which is hard to do! Lol
  16. I could not stomach the protein shakes at all after surgery. And I couldn't eat enough protein. Went to a fitness store and bought the Isopure drinks. They have 40grams of protein and that is what is saving me. I'm one month out. They can be exspensive, but I don't buy fast food anymore or have huge grocery bills. They help curve any empty feelings I get in my stomach. It is very hard to get the protein in early on. Good luck!
  17. Good luck! I am one month out today, and the time has flown by. I'm sending out positive thoughts & prayers your way! U will be great!

1 month out! I did it!

Thanks everyone for the welcome & support! @Geno- my recovery was very fast but I hadn't any complications. I did good on drinking & pureed foods. I had taken two weeks off, but I could have gone back after a week. When I was in the hospital for that day, all I did was walk. I walked almost the whole night, the nurses joked that I was wearing holes in their floors. But I think that's what helped so much too. On the second day after surgery I became very nauseous & dizzy. But the next day (day 3) I could start the food. Once I did, and drank more, I was gold. I have to say though that the smell & taste of protein shakes made me sick to my stomach after surgery so Isopure drinks saVed me. I try to keep a positive attitude, keep it in my head that I will have to roll with whatever comes because in the end, this is better for me than the quality of life I was living. Unhealthy & unhappy.
  19. had my sleeve 10/3/11....a month out, doing great! this forum has been a LIFESAVER, & given so much piece of mind!
