Bill,
Congratulations. I too am hoping to be sleeved on 12/29. My EKG came back "abnormal," so I may have a snag. Good Luck, and safe travels!

Today I went for my pre-op bloodwork and EKG. Regretably, the nurse called and said the EKG was abnormal. I was wondering if any of you had this occur? She was going to show it to the surgeon and anesthesiologist and call me back. Just curious if this is always a deal-braker?

Behemoth,
I can relate to your fear. I am scared too. I am having the sleeve done 12/29, but I am trying to keep the old "what-if" fears in check. For me, losing weight has been on the New Year's resolution list for at least over a decade..... This year I am taking a new approach. I don't KNOW if it will create regrets - it might, but, if ANOTHER 10 years pass and I have done nothing, I know that will cause me to have regret. I am holding onto a quote of Jillian from a couple of episode ago on BL, Feel the fear, move through it, and DO IT ANYWAY!

I am so excited for you. YOU are gonna be so healthy in 2010 and this is the first step to get you going! I know you doc is awesome ! and, I will be in the big D thinking of you tomorrow when I get my bloodwork done. I am saying a special prayer for you tonight and cannot wait to hear all about it! sleep well!

Hang in there - you are almost 1/2 way there and we are all rooting for your success! I know I will be a "nervous Nellie" when I start the liquid diet pre-op plan, because it makes the reality of surgery oh-so-close. Maybe the nerves will keep me on track - it encourages me to hear it has not been as tough as you had thought. This is the month we choose to change our lives!

Tiffkins,
Congratulations and big 'ole hugs! I am not sleeved yet, but stories like yours are such an inspiration. THanks for sharing your success - gives me, and I know others, hope - that is a good thing to be sharing! WAY TO GO!

I would love to be a part of this, not sure whether I want to see you all before or after my big day? Probably will be a nervous wreck on the 28th! I will be getting sleeved on 12/29, so I will be in the area. Ya'll can all come see me in Plano if you end up going with the 29th or 30th! Doesn't that sound like where you want to have a girl's lunch? I can always make the next one!

I never really know when I post - "who" sees it. Sorry - a little techy-challenged. Just thought I would post an update. I am seeing Dr. Nicholson on Thurs., 11/12 for a pre-evaluation and am hoping to be sleeved on 12/29. I decided to wait until after Christmas. I just thought the first weeks would be the hardest and that is such a crazy time of the year with shopping, travel.... I will only have a week to recover before going back to work, but if I need to I can take another week off school. I am excited! Who knows, I may go swim suit shopping in 2010 - dare I dream such big dreams?

TwoBlueCats & Anna,
It was so good to see you both and to hear the information at the Nicholson seminar. I hope it was helpful for both of you. I feel much more at ease, and hope insurance picks up any of the cost! I am hoping to have the sleeve 12/28. I really would love to hear about both of your decisions and keep in touch.

Thanks so much for sharing. I am hoping to be sleeved in December and it really is so helpful and reassuring to read about your experience. Currently, I am addicted to VSG stories rather than carbs......

I would love that too! I am now an Austin-gal, but grew up in Euless and my daughter lives in Dallas. I am in the area all the time. I am hoping to have my procedure done in December, so you would all be my inspiration. (And some courage too!) It is wonderful to have support from those who have made it successfully to the other side. This website is a blessing, but it would be great to see your faces and hear your voices.

Hi! I am flying up from Austin to attend the Nicholson clinic on 10/28 as well. I too had wanted to "just buckle down" and lose the weight - of course that has happened and been regained more times than I can count. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Thanks so much for the posts and sharing your thoughts - seems like this surgery is more practiced in Mexico than the US. Your posts are so encouraging to me at this pre-surgery point in the process. I had thought I was going with a Mini-Gastric Bypass, but my search has led me to feel the sleeve is a better choice. There does not seem to be as many complications and I think the sleeve is a powerful enough tool to get me healthy. (The band just seems to be a nightmare!) Just have to find the right person to get me started... Thanks again for sharing your stories

Hi. I am going to Dallas to interview Nick Nicholson on Wed., 10/28 regarding having Gastric Sleeving later this year. I originally was considering Endobariatric in Mexico to have the surgery. Seems that Dr. Guillermo Alvarez has had many successful surgeries in Mexico - more surgeries than Dr. Nicholson. I do not know if there is a higher complication rate, but he has done A LOT of the surgeries. The cost difference is not a huge factor, but my family is uncomfortable with me having a procedure done in Mexico - particularly if there are complications or a need for follow-ups following the procedure. For those of you who have already made these tough decisions, what are you thoughts? They are both about equal distance from my home near Austin, Texas....

Congratulations. I am hoping to be sleeved in December, so I enjoy reading as you walk this journey ahead of me!
