1. Is your three day diet, only liquids? I was just curious?

  2. BTW, do you think we can find some burnt orange protein for the Rose Bowl?

  3. Theresa,

How you doing? Just wanted to check-in. You are almost 2 weeks out! Whew!

  4. I am going to head up either Mon. or Tues. - sort of depends on what time my surgery is on Tues. They are supposed to call tomorrow with a firm time. I am currently scheduled for 8:00, hope it stays that way, but another friend of mine had this and was moved to 2:00 the day before her procedure. I am at Forest North Medical Center. I think it is good you are at the hospital, in the unlikely event there is a complication. I will say a prayer for you tonight for a speedy recovery and good pharmaceuticals. Post as soon as you feel able. Best Wishes. Hook 'Me!

  5. Anna,

It is so good to hear from you. I hope you can make it to the 2/10 support meeting, I am planning to attend. I scheduled my 6 wk. w/ Nicholson on that date. If you can't I completely understand, I know it is a drive. I am so sorry to hear you are anemic. I am a tad worried about that too, I posted that I know we aren't suppose to begin calcium or iron until soft solids - is that the same as mushies? I don't know and am not sure if it is one or two either, I might just start w/ one and see how you tolerate it? I love those Viactiv chews - they are my 10;00 snack each day. I hope to see you soon and think of you all the time.

  6. WingRider,

Good luck. I think we are sleeve Twinkies. I am going to be sleeved on 12/29 as well. Live in the Austin area, but traveling to Dallas for my procedure. Who's doing your surgery? Someone local?

  7. Thanks so much for your email. It gave me a couple of ideas! I am swamped at the work today, so apologize for this being short - but YES, yes! I will be at the meeting on 2/10!

  8. Linda,

Thank you so much for your kindness. I feel like you were my first support and it truly means so much to me! I am having a hard time going to sleep tonight. Hungry, nervous, mind a racing, but I am ready for Tues. Went to GNC and am ready for my return to begin the New Year. Thanks so much for having me in your thoughts and prayers!

  9. Tomorrow is our day! Best wishes headed to you! We are such twinkies - I am 47 too. When is your bday, mine is 10/23?

  10. Hi Linda,

I am going to Nick Nicholson's seminar next week, on 10/28. Super scared and excited too about getting more information. I had thought I had a surgeon in Mexico, but my family was not at all comfortable with me doing surgery in Mexico. I am traveling up from Austin. Guess I want to make sure you are "alive" after surgery and not full of regret. I am sooooo frustrated with my size, but my tummy is not hurting today. I know that will all be part of the process, but it is scary to think you are willingly having part of a healthy stomach removed permanently, does that make any sense? I would love to hear from you.

  11. Think you are probably about to begin your diet for the big day. I have been eating like it is the "last supper," and I don't begin the diet until 12/15 - gained like 5 lbs. since my consult.... I am thinking of you and cannot wait to hear about your journey!

  12. Hi. Kaykay,

I live in Austin and am going to Plano on Wed., 10/28 to a seminar for the Nicholson Clinic - the surgeon is Nick Nicholson. Just wondering if you know any of his patients. I am super nervous and also excited to think I am taking some action to change my life so I can improve the quality and longevity. Thanks for your thoughts.

  13. Yep,

feel like total crap. I am weak, very sick to my stomach, and my left shoulder is on fire. Really feel like crud and oh, so miss my morphine drip. Gentle cyber huugs sent yourway.

  14. Linda,

Thanks so much for taking time to respond. IT IS SO nice to have someone to talk to who has "been there." The rest of my immediate family doesn't have weight issues - hubbie, kids are all in great shape. My mom, etc... all have weight issues. I am excited about Dr. NIcholson's clinic on Wed. I will let you know how it goes. I am a teacher and hope to do the procedure on 12/28 so I can enjoy the holidays, and have a week to recoup before returning to work. What do you think? Is that enough time to rest before work? Also, I am a bit nervous about a really restrictive diet at the holidays, but I didn't want to wait until summer. I am not morbidly obese, I weigh 195, but I am only 5'2..., I would love to weigh 140ish. I have 55 lbs or so, but I would love to be able to enjoy the summer and wear shorts or maybe even a bathing suit and not be mortified!

  15. FUN! Hope you had a great time. Did you have energy and could you manage your food ok while traveling? That is a big accomplishment! Hope to see you on the 10th. I am pooped today, went to the UT basketball game yesterday. What a game! A really busy day still takes it out of me, just woke up from a 2 1/2 hour nap and feel better!

  16. Linda,

You are such an inspiration. Really! Did you get your supplemental insurance through Nicholson Clinic or is is something you found out about on your own? I think that is so smart. I want to do that as well. Thanks for the scoop.

  17. It TOTALLY freaks me out too. So, I am glad to hear it does someone else too. How many of the shakes are you having with the one meal? I am hoping to schedule some of the "pre-test" stuff the wek of 12/22-24, since I am off. If you are feeling up to it, I would love to see you and hear about the first few weeks. I am proud of you and know you are gonna be great. Day 2 - inch by inch you will whip those two weeks!

  18. Thinoneday,

I hope you are able to sleep well tonight, and I pray your tummy gives enough peace to rest. I am hangin' on to the faith that this too shall pass, but man o man it is a rough row to hoe. I have had a really hard time getting my fluids in, so I am off to sip, sip ,sip...

  19. Theresa,

I was watching Biggest Loser and there was a quote from Jillian (who scares me only slightly less than having 1/2 of my stomach removed) which I am gonna hold onto until my surgery and I thought I would share it with you, too. She was telling one of the contestants as they were embarking for the home part of the show to "Feel the fear, move through it, and do it anyway....." That may not be exact, but it was something like that. And I thought, for me, even though I am scared SILLY, I will be regretful if I am still at this place 5 years from now. And, while there is a lot of trepidation about doing the "wrong solution," at least I am not doing the "same ole solution" that I know does not work - like yo-yo dieting.....

  20. I have my 6 month checkup on 6/23 at 10ish and was wondering if any of you might be able to meet for lunch in Dallas.

Would love to see you and catch up. I am doing fine, seem to have not lost any in about a month or so, but hanging steady at 146. I am losing hair like crazy . I have lost like 50% of my hair. Do you guys have any advice? I figure I'll ask Dr. Nick on my visit.

Hope to hear from you soon!

  22. Your new pic, rocks! The marroon with your hair looks splendid!

  23. How are you doing today? Just wanted to check in on you??

  24. 14 days - you are golden, girl. The worst is definitely behind you now. Take it easy and it is smooth sailing! I am doing splendid. This week I had a great moment. One of my pre-surgery "bad" days was when I had went into the Gap and I couldn't fit in a pair of their jeans. The 14's were too tight, and they did not have a 16. So I left realizing I had become too big to shop at a "normal," non-plus size spot. Yesterday, I bought a size 8! Size 8! I am wearing a size 8 jeans tomorrow on casual Friday - does that rock or what! You are gonna be right there too, before you know it!

  25. I have my preeval with Dr. Nicholsson next Thurs. I am hoping to be "sleeved" on 12/29. Sherry says private pays are sleeved on Tuesdays, It is starting to seem pretty "official." My hubbie is even going with me to the appt. next week. So glad to know you guys are here!
