    Officially lost 100lbs

Tiffkins, Congratulations and big 'ole hugs! I am not sleeved yet, but stories like yours are such an inspiration. THanks for sharing your success - gives me, and I know others, hope - that is a good thing to be sharing! WAY TO GO!
  2. LOOK AT YOU LINDA! You look tremendous! So inspired! Congrats! I am scheduled for 12/29 - received the paperwork today - makes it quite official! Love the pic!

  3. I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU! DId you decide to go with the sleeve for sure! I cannot wait to hear all about it. I will probably be up the week of the 14th to do the pre-op stuff. You are the trailblazer! I did not want to "jump in" before the holiday. Thought I would rest and take it easy better after, but doesn't give me quite as long before back to work.... How long are you taking off?

  4. Anna, I am a self-pay too. That is why I am on a Tues., wish it could be on the Monday. I am off until the 6th and trying to decide if I should take an additional week. I so hope you are on the 29th too. I am excited, but scared and it sure would be nice to have you there! I am saying a prayer for you to be healthy and strong tomorrow. I know you are in good hand with Dr. Nick. Let us know how it goes!!

  5. Theresa,

It went really well. My hubbie joined me and he feels better about the whole shindig. I am scheduled for 12/29 - that is just right around the corner! I am really excited, but scared too! I know you understand. The more I talk with Dr. Nicholson the more confidence I have in selecting him as my surgeon. Please let me know where you are in your journey....

  6. Hope this gets to you Anna. I did meet with Dr. Nicholson last Thursday and I am set. I am scheduled for 12/29. I am excited and scared stupid! I hope the excited stays stronger for the next month. How are things with you - are you de-banned yet?

  7. Anna, tomorrow is my pre-eval w/ Dr. Nick. I am hoping to do surgery on 12/29. I know you are planning do have your procedure done over the break as well. Have you nailed down a date yet?

  8. I would love to be a part of this, not sure whether I want to see you all before or after my big day? Probably will be a nervous wreck on the 28th! I will be getting sleeved on 12/29, so I will be in the area. Ya'll can all come see me in Plano if you end up going with the 29th or 30th! Doesn't that sound like where you want to have a girl's lunch? I can always make the next one!
  9. I never really know when I post - "who" sees it. Sorry - a little techy-challenged. Just thought I would post an update. I am seeing Dr. Nicholson on Thurs., 11/12 for a pre-evaluation and am hoping to be sleeved on 12/29. I decided to wait until after Christmas. I just thought the first weeks would be the hardest and that is such a crazy time of the year with shopping, travel.... I will only have a week to recover before going back to work, but if I need to I can take another week off school. I am excited! Who knows, I may go swim suit shopping in 2010 - dare I dream such big dreams?
  10. I have my preeval with Dr. Nicholsson next Thurs. I am hoping to be "sleeved" on 12/29. Sherry says private pays are sleeved on Tuesdays, It is starting to seem pretty "official." My hubbie is even going with me to the appt. next week. So glad to know you guys are here!

  11. TwoBlueCats & Anna, It was so good to see you both and to hear the information at the Nicholson seminar. I hope it was helpful for both of you. I feel much more at ease, and hope insurance picks up any of the cost! I am hoping to have the sleeve 12/28. I really would love to hear about both of your decisions and keep in touch.
  12. Thanks so much for sharing. I am hoping to be sleeved in December and it really is so helpful and reassuring to read about your experience. Currently, I am addicted to VSG stories rather than carbs......
  13. Hi. I am going to Dallas to interview Nick Nicholson on Wed., 10/28 regarding having Gastric Sleeving later this year. I originally was considering EndoBariatric in Mexico to have the surgery. Seems that Dr. Guillermo Alvarez has had many successful surgeries in Mexico - more surgeries than Dr. Nicholson. I do not know if there is a higher complication rate, but he has done A LOT of the surgeries. The cost difference is not a huge factor, but my family is uncomfortable with me having a procedure done in Mexico - particularly if there are complications or a need for follow-ups following the procedure. For those of you who have already made these tough decisions, what are you thoughts? They are both about equal distance from my home near Austin, Texas....
  14. I would love that too! I am now an Austin-gal, but grew up in Euless and my daughter lives in Dallas. I am in the area all the time. I am hoping to have my procedure done in December, so you would all be my inspiration. (And some courage too!) It is wonderful to have support from those who have made it successfully to the other side. This website is a blessing, but it would be great to see your faces and hear your voices.
  15. Hi! I am flying up from Austin to attend the Nicholson clinic on 10/28 as well. I too had wanted to "just buckle down" and lose the weight - of course that has happened and been regained more times than I can count. I look forward to seeing you soon.
  16. Linda,

You are such an inspiration. Really! Did you get your supplemental insurance through Nicholson Clinic or is is something you found out about on your own? I think that is so smart. I want to do that as well. Thanks for the scoop.

  17. Thanks so much for the posts and sharing your thoughts - seems like this surgery is more practiced in Mexico than the US. Your posts are so encouraging to me at this pre-surgery point in the process. I had thought I was going with a Mini-Gastric Bypass, but my search has led me to feel the sleeve is a better choice. There does not seem to be as many complications and I think the sleeve is a powerful enough tool to get me healthy. (The band just seems to be a nightmare!) Just have to find the right person to get me started... Thanks again for sharing your stories
  18. Linda,

Thanks so much for taking time to respond. IT IS SO nice to have someone to talk to who has "been there." The rest of my immediate family doesn't have weight issues - hubbie, kids are all in great shape. My mom, etc... all have weight issues. I am excited about Dr. NIcholson's clinic on Wed. I will let you know how it goes. I am a teacher and hope to do the procedure on 12/28 so I can enjoy the holidays, and have a week to recoup before returning to work. What do you think? Is that enough time to rest before work? Also, I am a bit nervous about a really restrictive diet at the holidays, but I didn't want to wait until summer. I am not morbidly obese, I weigh 195, but I am only 5'2..., I would love to weigh 140ish. I have 55 lbs or so, but I would love to be able to enjoy the summer and wear shorts or maybe even a bathing suit and not be mortified!

  19. Hi. Kaykay,

I live in Austin and am going to Plano on Wed., 10/28 to a seminar for the Nicholson Clinic - the surgeon is Nick Nicholson. Just wondering if you know any of his patients. I am super nervous and also excited to think I am taking some action to change my life so I can improve the quality and longevity. Thanks for your thoughts.

  20. Congratulations. I am hoping to be sleeved in December, so I enjoy reading as you walk this journey ahead of me!
  21. Hi Linda,

I am going to Nick Nicholson's seminar next week, on 10/28. Super scared and excited too about getting more information. I had thought I had a surgeon in Mexico, but my family was not at all comfortable with me doing surgery in Mexico. I am traveling up from Austin. Guess I want to make sure you are "alive" after surgery and not full of regret. I am sooooo frustrated with my size, but my tummy is not hurting today. I know that will all be part of the process, but it is scary to think you are willingly having part of a healthy stomach removed permanently, does that make any sense? I would love to hear from you.

    Barbara
