I'm going to the mountains (high desert) this weekend. Going kayaking and bird watching with friends. So fun. I really need to get away. Its been so hot here, supposed to be 108 today.... Craig is riding his motorcycle up to Montana this week, so he will be gone. Nice to get out with the girls. Weight sitting around 189... I hear you Florinda, the 5 pound tango. So much harder to get off this weight window....
Lipstick Lady, I don't know her personally, but like to see her input around here. Like her style. OK with me.

Here is one very popular post that was started by sleve4me.... perhaps you will remember her from this: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/194493-weight-gained-since-having-gastric-sleeve-surgery/
This little group really helps me to just be honest... touch base, feel safe and not alone in this thing. I love you guys and really wish the best for you all. It helps me whether I'm gaining, losing or staying the same....

After meeting with the nut my slow down is most likely caused by the medical issues I've been dealing with for the past few months. I was on strong antibiotics and meds. Now that I'm back on track I'm not eating enough calories. Here is a picture of my progress start top left progress across then second row left to right. Bottom right is most recent

I think there is a line were what you need to do, and what you can do may clash. Not as easy as saying "just get your head in the game" or "Just eat less" or "Just exercise more". Of course these things count... but it looks to me like there may be some other factors at play here. Brain chemestry? Biome health? When I decided to get the WLS I knew that I would have to do something different than I did before surgery. The lifetyle change. I also knew that I couldnt go so far out of my current lifestyle that I would be falling off the wagon at every turn. I decided I would focus on Portion Control, not super low carbs.... I am a vegetarian, and very low carb is pretty hard to maintain with limited low carb Proteins. I could however eat less carbs. I reworked many recipes to better meet my health needs. I would try and eat everything I wanted too... but keep an eye on the numbers at all times... write it down, weight and measure, get enough Protein, drink my Water, maintain consistancy with my exercise.... Every day is a work in progress. When stress and tragidy come into the picture... its just that much harder. The drug componant of food becomes a player too. I have seen others around me here going cold turkey with carbs... I can do that too, but know I can't and don't want to live that way, I have tried to make lifestyle changes that will last in the long run. This means for me that I am closer to the edge of gaining... if I graze a little too much, if I dont bother writing down what I eat for a few days, if I eat for the drug effects (sugar!) or just step out of my routein too much (eating out... vacation, house guests, parties) it all shows on the scale. I have dedicated two days a week to lower carb and calorie consumption for the last year, and I think this helps keep me from gaining more than I already have. I find it harder and harder to really get back into the downward loss mode these days. I just finished the 5 day pouch test a few weeks ago.. I lost 6 1/5 pounds which felt great, of course you know that kind of quick weight loss is a water dump from low carbs, so very easy to gain back. It value was to remember how lower carbs and higher protein can work for retriction which is a value if you have lost track of that quality of the sleeve. (or pouch). I really don't want to become a yo-yo dieter again... and am looking for a way, in the long run to keep this weight off. At 4 1/2 years, I am till in the "successfull" range, but still looking backwards to the time I was at goal and working to try and get back there if possible, in a sane and sustainable way.

the pouch test i not a permanent weight loss solution, but does help you feel your restriction, and if you are not good about getting in your Protein, it helps get you back on track.

If you aren't already, I would say spend a week or so weighing/measuring everything you eat and carefully logging it in myftinesspal or a similar program to track calories, carbs, and Protein. Exercise is great for your health but not terribly important for weight loss, so don't look at that as the source of your stall. And actually, if you have been at the same weight for months, that isn't a stall, it's maintenance, and IMO you are going to have to change your diet in some significant way to get out of maintenance and back into weight loss. But you can't know what you need to do unless you know exactly what you are putting in your body.
If you are already measuring, weighing, and logging, can you tell us how many calories, carbs, and grams of protein you are getting each day? We might be able to give more specific thoughts if so.

Yes Kim ... once it has healed I will post it... it is a really personal piece which is why I was worrying that it might be ruined. I have a red rose and three daffodils - these represent my lil family - the red rose of England for the hubby and the three welsh daffodils for me and the kids... underneath it says: 'Dau a ddaeth yn bedwar', which is welsh for ' we two became four'.
I am hoping that it heals and looks like it did when it was first done, which is stunning! The lady that did it is a true artist.
Steve, the hubby, had one done today - it is dream catcher and it is full of vibrant colour... it isn't finished yet and it looks amazing already!

I have heard that drinking during or 30 minutes after meals cause the pyloris to open up and let the food/water out... before your body has had a chance to feel full from the chemestry. Some even drink with meals so they can eat more! I often eat Soups for dinner, so really, what is the difference of that and drinking with a meal... but if you want to get the biggest bang for your buck... do not drink with or 30 minutes after a solid meal.

I definately am an emotional eater. It is so clear to me now. Over the last year I gained 18 pounds. (!!!), three of them in the last two weeks (eating vacation... I swear, three pastery shops a day!) I feel like I finally really feel like I have had enough to eat... three days ago I started back with the whole list of dos: Protein first, enough Water, and semi fasting two days a week (5:2) and I have lost the 3 1/2 pounds from vacation already. I hope to get back to my goal/bounce range someday. I am tired of wearing my fat pants and missing my skinny jeans in the closet! We can do it ladies... one day at a time. I know the fast days can be hard... I find if I write everything down that I will eat after work... including something sweet... and I can look forward to that, I find its easier to stay on track the first part of the day. I also use 100 cals on a Protein Drink in my thai tea in the AM, that helps too.
