  1. I had a couple of extra snacks today as well. Husband got home from his 2 week motorcycle adventure to Canada, so made pizza dinner. It was so yummy, and not TOOO over the top. Nice to see the old man again.
  2. Butter, did I miss something?
  3. This was posted else ware, but I thought it would be good to have it in our "bag of tricks" here as well... http://www.obesityhelp.com/articles/why-bariatric-surgery-can-fail-part-2/
  4. Great article. My Doc said he would not give me a goal weight, because He did not want me to feel disappointed if I reached a different weight in the end. His Dr. Assistant asked me if I could be happy losing 50 pounds (20% of my weight) and I said yes, but 90 would be better. I can see the context of their comments better now.
  5. This chart includes frame size and how to figure out what your frame size is... (half way down the page) http://www.healthchecksystems.com/heightweightchart.htm
  6. Exactly on all points!
  7. Coops! It is so rewarding for me to see you getting results with this plan! ... and having a real life at the same time... so awesome. We may just cross the finish line together! (not that we are ever really finished, but to goal...) :D down 14.9 on the 5:2 in less than 13 weeks
  8. ...got on the scales and chunked off 1.4 today. My first goal is to get to my WLS low.. which is now 2 pounds away.(174) My second goal is to get to the top of my NORMAL BMI, which is 7 pounds away(169) My third goal is to get a little lower, to create a defendable bounce range, which is 11 pounds away.(165) I swear, I had a backlog of things I needed to do yesterday... got on the phone, got on the computer, got in the car and checked them all off my list.... I think THIS is the weight I lost yesterday. No kidding! Where is that address that you got all the weight range goals from?
  9. Yesterday I made an appointment for next month. I asked for labs. My last labs were.... 8- 2011, My surgery was 1-11! I thought I had one for a year....... after one year I never heard from my Bariatric team again.
  10. Oops, I just posted it here. Cake poisoning. Just thinking about it made me have a cake fit.
  11. OK here is a recipe for two fairly large servings! It is very moist, and a little pudding cakeish. mix 1/4 cup of Einkorn or Kamut or spelt flour AND 1/4 cup of Besan flour (garbanzo flour) I know I know, weird ingredients! add 1t baking powder, a dash or two of salt, mix well (you can also add 1T cocoa powder, if you like) in another bowl, mix 1 eggwhite whipped a little bit to break up the "lumps", 1/8th cup of SF Torrani, I like salted caramel, but whatever goes with the flavor you are making. Add water... around 1/4 cup... or a little less if you are using einkorn. Mix the wet into the dry. turn over in the mixing bowl, do not beat too vigerously... If the batter is too dry, ad a little more Water. Do not taste the batter raw, the besan tastes like crap raw. oil a large mug... with sides that are fairly up and down. Do not fill more than half way. Use a small plate or saucer to cover the cup . ( Add nuts, or chocolate chips or chopped plums or other fruit at the end. Push a few down into the cake, but leave most on top. Chocolate sinks as it cooks and all ends up on the bottom. ) put in middle of rotating microwave oven with cover firmly placed on top. Cook for 1 minute 20 seconds covered. Take out and look to see if it looks done. Turn the cup over on the saucer. The cake should drop out without sticking. I leave it covered to let it steam a little while(a few minutes) lift off the cup... you can see if it is done. poke it with your finger... springy is good. If you have added fruit it is a little more moist. Cut into half, slice one half for today, and save the other for tomorrow or share! I usually make one of these for weekend Breakfast with coffee (I know I know, you aren't supposed to drink with your food... its the one meal I cheat on this one) here is a sample of a whole cake, I also put some butter on this one, and the cream is for coffee. I ate half at breakfast, and the other half after dinner... quite a cakey day. Its a good reason to give half away or make a half order.... (this recipe halves quite well) so half of one without the butter or the coffee cream is around 170 or so... this is with nuts and fruit....
  12. I'll post something on the recipe page.... I always throw something together without measuring except the flour...
  13. Statistics say that you are more likely to keep more of the weight off with surgery. It is just a tool, and a lot of work goes into using the tool, for the rest of your life. This would also be true with changing your eating habits with a new diet without the sleeve. Do you feel like you are caving in or taking the easy way out or doing the drastic thing by getting the sleeve? Do talk to your surgeon, therapist and nutritionist again, and discuss this with them if you have the chance. Best of luck to you and whatever decision you make.
  14. Heaven knows I don't want to get anyone else in trouble with carrot cake and the like, but I do make stuff like that, with egg white, torrani syrup, baking powder, and very simple low sugar and low fat ingredients. I might chop in a pluot, or add some walnuts.... log it on MFP and enjoy. Not three meals a day, but maybe one meal a day.... or less, and never on fast day. So far so good. I do eat reduced carb, but not low carb... except fast day is pretty low most of the time. A serving of the einkorn flour is only 1/4 cup... that is enough to make a mug cake in the microwave.
  15. Bless their little poopie hearts! I buy them from Elliots in Sacramento, but you can get some spelt stuff at Whole Foods and I'm sure at any of the health food co-ops in SF area. I also am eating Kamut and Einkorn.. Both very good... Im sure the microbes love them, the proof is in the poo!
  16. I'm just on the short side of 5'9" so 165 is good for me.
  17. Was trying to type severe....think that severed head hunger is even better!
  18. 152.2!? fantastic girl! Spelt: ancient species of wheat from the fifth millennium BC. Spelt was an important staple in parts of Europe from the Bronze Age to medieval times. Its just an early type of wheat, before wheat was hybridized and genetically modified to death. Rolled like oatmeal for quicker cooking.... in my rice cooker. I am always working to replace the "chocolate chip cookie" in my diet with something that is a little bit better for me... 67% chocolate chocolate chips, walnuts and oatmeal or spelt.... kind of does the job without too much sugar or junk. Go to in the face of extra sever head hunger! awww... just got on the scale, day after fast... same number. I feel skinnier! Was thinking there might be a drop, but not this time...
  19. OD, so glad you figured out what was going on! Georgia, tell that bug to get lost for me will ya? Laura, Like I said, I don't know where its going to come from! End of Fast day, 437.... I could only eat half of my dinner... and SO glad I had some more calories to eat later... STRESS eating... I had a long talk with dad... about a bunch of stuff... MUST HAVE food. I reached for some left over rolled spelt, added some chocolate chips and PB. Honestly, is was so yummy, and still came in under 500. PHEW! Got out of that like a champ. Found a senior care counselor on line, we talked on the phone tonight, and she was very helpful.
  20. Lots of reasons people don't comment, they don't see, they don't care, They are jealous, they like you better fat...(I had a guy tell me this early on... I think you looked better the way you were!) I don't know how long you were at goal with the band, but perhaps you know, the compliments slow down in time, and people just start thinking of you as "normal" and don't comment. Perhaps they didn't even notice you had gained... or just didn't want to go there.Compliments are fun, but you and you husband can see whats going on with your body, and really, thats whats important!
  21. Yesterday was the second birthday in a row at work. Homemade cake. I ate. Then made an eggplant dish with lots of oil and salt.....Home grown veggies.... I did stay right around my calorie goal, but more fat and carbs and SUGAR. The scale stayed the same... wonder what it would have been if I hadn't gone the way I did (my mouth does not agree that these ingredients were a problem...) .... anyway fast today, looking forward to it! Enjoy your day all!
  22. I think sometimes you just have to eat and sleep! I have had that feeling before... I know I don't get enough sleep most of the time.... I bookmark the page that has the new posts for the group highlighted, I just go to the bookmark and I'm there.
  23. Laura, where in the heck are you going to get 23 more pounds from girl! From that pic all I can think of is you must have fat feet cause there isnt any fat anywhere else I can see!
  24. Laura, Its one of these... http://www.drsharma....or-obesity.html http://www.drsharma....ody-weight.html
