  1. Oh Diva! Happy late birthday!!! ( I always say, spread that birthday out for a week! More Birthday is better!)
  2. Weight loss is rarely even or predictable from day to day. Don't be frustrated. The body will do what it wants to do. Search "Vertical sleeve Eating plans" or something like that on google... there are several posted. My plan asked me to eat around 800 cals a day for the first 6 months. I perhaps got up to 900 in this time. There will be stalls, and drops. Its all normal. If you really are burning a lot of calories doing exercise, you might want to add some carbs before exercise. Your Dr did not send you home with a plan? At 11 months I am eating around 1400 a day. You have to decide for yourself if you need to follow a low carb plan. I eat less than before surgery, but not really low. Think pounds lost per month, instead of per day or week. You wont flip out as much. DO exercise. It will help you to fill in lose skin, burn fat/form muscle and just feel better. You will do fine! http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:2UUbzJX_tl8J:www.cornellweightlosssurgery.org/pdf/dietary_guidelines_sleeve_gastrectomy.pdf+gastric+sleeve+post+op+diet&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEEShy7C0f-rcYTzA7DdTVPttln3uZfSrZQn4UtTJ8pk6x_CJnDy_Zq0TcoGDkvK9y6PxscuduZphK74Wo3DH1k-colbZG4mU1Oie5UihTNevkWxOa29wL92FDoDl9KZAaqvykfNLR&sig=AHIEtbQ_UE5YT6cuYqo-kMY1uv1fiKtUew
  3. I also think that so many people who have had complications and would still do the surgery over again is a testament to how difficult it is to be fat too...
  4. That is so exciting! See you back here in a few days! I am sure you will be very happy. My co-worker told me her neighbor had the sleeve 5 years ago, lost 140 pounds has had no problems and has kept all the weight off. I really think the sleeve is the best thing.
  5. Good luck to you both! If I could have gotten it when I weighed less, I would have.
  6. Don't forget!!! Gluttony is one of the 7 deadly sins! This teaching has really put overweight issues into the character catagory... forget science! You would think a trainer would at least be up to date with the science of his field. You did the right thing. If Drs and insurance approve your surgery, then there MUST be some good reason for it....
  7. Proton Pump Inhibiter- its a type of antacid
  8. You can get OTC Omeprazole... it worked for me for the first 6 months, then I quit because I was worrying about calcium absorption. I have not had any acid except about three days of mild heartburn in the last 5 months. I think if you get on the right PPI you will feel much better.
  9. Many people feel this way. From reading posts here for over a year, I have rarely seen regrets last over 2 months. Usually, there is no regrets at all. Most say they would do it again in a heartbeat, others say their only regret is not doing it earlier.
  10. Very good advice ideas. The main thing I do is write it ALL down. (fitday.com) I eat with protein first as the intended rule... I end up eating three cookies once in a while... then I write it down. I try to keep under maybe 1600 calories with an ideal target of 12-1400. Writing it all down forces me to remain conscious of what Im doing. I have had a history of eating what I want.... but WAY too much over time, and when the scales would stall, for a day or a week, I would bolt off the plan I was following. This had to change. With the sleeve, after working it for 11 months so far, I see that I am in it for the long run. If I don't lose weight for weeks or months, I know if I follow a semi healthy plan daily, within the intended calorie range, eventually, the scale reading will go down. And it always has. I think in the past, pre sleeve, I just jumped ship before my body had the chance to really lose the weight my actions would lead to in the long run. Slow weight loss is not bad. For plenty of reasons it is good. Embrace it. Enjoy the ride as much as you can. This is your life too... don't hold out enjoying your life until you lose the weight.
  11. 58 here... More wrinkles, but all in all, I feel, and maybe look younger. Love it!
  12. As more and more folks get the sleeve, and discover this website, I'm sure more people with complications will show up too. Thank you all for sharing, its statistically part of this surgery option. Thankfully, not many have this problem, and of the few who do, things get better with time and treatment. Hopefully you all are over the worst part of this surgery.
  13. I have lost about 30% of my hair so far... At 11 months, it is still coming out, but a little slower thank goodness! My hair was waist length. I finally cut it, not all the way off, but in layers to help minimize the thinning look of the ends, and to include the tiny short hairs starting to grow back. It is what it is.... I have always valued my thick shiny hair too... when the body did not satisfy... The new cut was a lift, and after a few days of playing with it, and trying new conditioners and products, it looks really good. You will be fine, just let go and try some alternatives until you feel happy about it again.
  14. All good questions and observations.
  15. Yeah! More fat pant photos! I can't wait.
  16. cottage cheese or greek yogurt...shortly you can add Kashi go lean cereal with milk... the cereal has 14 gms of protein +whats in the milk, and tastes good! I also bake things with Bobs Red Mill low carb baking mix... I had chocolate donuts with almond butter for breakfast today...Check eggface for great low carb high protein baked recipes.
  17. It's really just "time will tell". I only know one person very well who has had surgery and that was RNY. She got prego before she had lost much of the weight, and is STILL happy she got the surgery. She is probably about 50+ pounds down from her high weight(had about 100+to lose), and figures that is better than not being down 50 pounds. She seems to eat without restriction (she is always talking about cheescake and potatoe salad...), but still manages to keep those 50 pounds off... so the surgery is still working for her to that degree. I suspect if we can keep the protein first rule in action, the rest will follow pretty well.
  18. Listen to yourself girl! You are not going to stay the same weight forever because you are eating a 60 calorie pudding cup! One day at a time will add up to losing ALL your weight. Just wate until this time next year....SKINNY.
  19. Would you do anything differently if you just decided you will be 210 forever and you will not lose anymore weight? Would you eat more or differently or exercise less or something? I just figure I will eat the same after I reach goal as I do now. I may drop down a little bit more or not... but not quickly in any event. I'm not really on a special diet except for more Protein than before. I guess I could develop increased stomach capacity or hunger... I don't know about that yet. Hope not. Some studies say there is a weight bounce at 3 years. I am trying to stay on track and not just go on some crazy cake eating expedition or something for a month...(Really, I don't even think I could do that now...) I don't feel like I have to hold myself back much at all. Just trying to make healthy and conscious decisions as often as possible.
  20. I have had two stalls that lasted between 4-6 weeks, the first one was at 2 1/2 weeks! I am almost at goal. Do not compare your weightloss to others, you are NOT them. Just keep on track, and your weight will melt off bit by bit. Try and enjoy the ride! Sometimes its a rollercoaster (which we paid to ride on remember?) and sometimes its looks like its standing still. ALL NORMAL. I am almost at one year, and really, the time has flown by. I only lose about 2-3 pounds a month now, but its still going in the right direction. You will be here sooner than you think!
  21. So sad to hear your stories! Best of luck to you both.
  22. One reason I come to this forum much more than many others is the supportive tone here. I have seen some nasty behavior in other forums you hardly ever see here. I know I dish out some "tough love" now and again, but try not to sound holier than though.
  23. Skinny and so CUTE! You give me hope, my goal is about where you are at... and you look fantastic! Sometimes we can't see it in ourselves...
  24. Yikes lady! You have really been through it! Hope this is the last problem you EVER have. You will still think it is so worth it after you feel better and get back to a normal life. Have you read Tiffikins early posts? She had may problems like you, and ended up having a ton of success and has been an inspiration to many!
