  1. Everyone here has a different story, and yours will be different still... I am 58 and have had an almost perfect time during and after surgery. I did feel weak and out of sorts the first couple of weeks, but by sipping and walking it got better. My work made me take 6 weeks off...because my Doc had a rule about not lifting over 10 pounds for that time, but others here have not had that problem. I would take at least two weeks off... or more just to have the chance to adjust to the new life style, and get onto some halfway normal foods before going to work. I am over one year out and really have a new life now. There are challenges... changing habits and getting up to speed.... stalls and new wrinkles and hair loss and the skin... but all in all it has been a miracle! I am so happy I did it! Most likely you will be too.
  2. Thanks for posting and letting us know how it has gone for you... and congrats on your sustained loss! Im sure the exercise will even make life better for you still.
  3. Coops, Photos put 10 pounds on you! Also, here is something out of the blue... When I was at my one year mark, I decided to measure myself, which I did. But then I took the measuring tape and held it at the high mark on all the points I measure myself just to see how it looked... it was pretty impressive. Im thinking, if you do that too, you will be able to see in a new way how much you have really taken off of the "apple" over the past year+.
  4. Coops, you DO look so skinny in that pic! Way to go girl!
  5. I would be interested...and I live in Sacramento to boot....my family lives in Fair Oaks....I use Bariatric Advantage, and love them!
  6. You are eating 10 pounds of food a day!? Wow! I am lucky if I eat over one pound of solids in a day...
  7. I'm wearing skinny jeans right now. Put on those skinny jeans girl! If now now, when!?
  8. Have a great time! Watch the fruity drinks... I gained 10 pounds the last time I was there!
  9. That is great news! Many congratulations to you and your fantastic 98 pound loss! You are getting soooo close to your goal. The sleeve is a great partner in getting to our goals. Keep up the good work... I know you will!
  10. Girlfriend! The challenges from life never cease! I am hearing lots of good things about eating your greens, flax, canola oil and walnuts...some of this fight can be tasty! I am having some health challenges right now too, and you remind me to de-stress and get on with it. Love abounds! Hugs to you.
  11. I want an update too! Hang in there mini, I managed to get below my pre holiday low, its slow but so much easier than previous non surgery years!
  12. Officially, a stall is no weight loss for over 2 weeks. Here is a graph of my weight loss over the past 6 months... I have lost 16 pounds in total (the last 6 months), and as you can see, my weight goes up and down all the time. I post my ticker weight every time I get to a new low. I see around 4 stalls here, two of which look to be 4-6 weeks long and the other two around 2 weeks. I have MANY more 'stalls' of one week. Its normal for your weight to bounce around...as far as I can tell. You will notice that the overall trend is down. I hope to keep this up until I reach goal, which is around 7 pounds from now.... that means at this rate, it will take me 3 or more months to get there. I am currently at one year out and have lost 86 pounds (according to my ticker). You can see I have a higher bounce on my graph, but that is normal, and will come off... maybe tomorrow, maybe next week!
  13. Target womens are sized 1-4...they are getting on board!
  14. So glad to hear you have gotten well enough to hit the gym again!
  15. I did get a thrill fitting into a 6. I just didn't really believe it all the way.
  16. Some brands just make their clothing have smaller numbers for sizes. I wear a 12-14 in most modest priced clothing but could wear a 6 or 8 in vanity sizing.
  17. My hard drive crashed and I needed to replace all my apps... but I will start the veg thread later this week. Braggs aminos or sometimes health food stores have their own brand.. I just add 1/2 t of Brags and 1/2 t of flax oil- sometimes a few drops of sesame oil ... braggs is sort of like soy sauce... salty. Really. I use it because vegetarians don't always get enough of the right aminos. You could use vinegar if you prefer.
  18. Sorry Diva! I just realized I have totally hijacked your awesome thread! I'll start my own so I don't confuse things more than i already have......by the way your cute photo in your signature is SO cute... in the gray with the wide belt. ROCKIN it. (embarrassed face....slinking away)
  19. Let me know how it works for you... I hope i'm not just a fluke! I think this plan would probably be easier for people who are later in the process... I am eating lots of raw chopped kale salads, with lots of good things in them... but not for the faint of stomach.... avocado, blueberries, walnuts, stilton cheese(if you can find cheese from grass fed cows or sheep, it is higher in Omega 3s than corn or soy fed animals) , flax oil and liquid amino dressing (just a little splash is enough) I find I am really craving this stuff right now... and feeling great! I just got my labs done about a week into this diet change, so I will be interested in seeing if it changes my hdl/ldl ratios. There are omega3 rich eggs out there, so i have one of those now and then, almond/flax seed butter at trader joes that is great with my chocolate chips, or on a piece of toast....ground flax on Cereal or in a Protein drink....
