    tension at home

Perhaps invite him to go to a meeting with your surgeon. It might ease his mind. Surgery is not the only way to lose weight, but keeping it off is another thing. And as far as not eating much at a buffett... tell him its just more for him! Really, I think some men are afraid that you will get slim and leave him for another man. I would just re asure him that you guys can work out the food thing, and you are doing it for your health, so you can spend a long healthy life together. If thats not enough..... there may be something else bothering him .

    HELP!

The basics. Protein first, follow Water rules, exercise, log your food in myfitnesspal, and weigh now and then (I do every day) I know its hard to get back on plan, and with a new baby, you must be tired as well! ....But the only way to really get the results you want, is do just that. I just finished the 5 day pouch test, which really is just eating low carb and high protein, its only 5 days and is a kick start to getting off the carbs and snacking which really has helped me. Get back on plan while your still ahead, down almost 40 pounds is great! ....Petra, I just noticed you have a lap-band... this is a Sleeve forum, I don't know so much about the band, check with your Band Dr. You may need an adjustment and advice from him/her.
  3. Nuts, advocado, dried fruit, healthy fats and whole grains.... and weights for sure... they change the way your body shape looks even if you dont lose more weight.

    Diet

After stalling, gaining, loosing, and gaining again... I finally got to goal at three years using the 5:2. Find info pinned to the top of the Vets page. Best of luck, it often takes longer than a year to get it all off.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Cathy! That sounds devine! Have a wonderful time. I love trains..... been too long...... I see Georgia on Face Book and on MFP... but not around here for a long time... perhaps BP burn out? Hope she comes "home" soon.... SarSar, depression is a desease, how well you live and circomstances are only part of the story. Injury does not help eather. I am glad you are feeling a bit better.... hopefully one step closer to final glowing health! The boys are lovely.... and you look great! I don't think my spell check is working... all the words look WRONG.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Denise, I just hope to kick myself out of some bad habits.... protein first....and less carbs... The 5 day test (I don't have a pouch...) is supposed to do that, and so far so good. The cravings are not gone all the way, but I do see the light.... they are not ruling my day at this point. Depression is such an insidious thing... it just puts on a filter where the joy is drained out of life. Sorry ladies, I have been feeling a bit depressed the last few weeks as well. Starting the 5 day test and getting back into the swing of things helps me see things can change for the better. Sending love to you all!

I've gained and it's my fault.

    Hows it going?
  8. Once in a while someone has a bad surgery... leaving the stomach too big. Have you had an image taken of your current sleeve to see whats up there? Once that is proven to be ok (or not) you can double down on an eating plan. Please do go back to your Dr, or see if you can go to another if possilbe if you have lost confidence in her. And yes, use Myfitnesspal, protein first, and drink all your water! I took 3 years to get to goal, so its not all fast and easy for many. I was at around 50 pounds at a year. I had to just keep going on, and tried some different things... I tryed the 5:2 which got me to goal after gaining 20 pounds.... at this time I am up around 13 pounds from goal again.... trying the 5 day pouch test, and have lost 5 pounds of water weight in two days so far. Just keep on trying girl! Don't give up.... I know when i try and just be "normal" and eat how I used to, without keeping track of what I eat.... I GAIN.
  9. Hi Richard. Just here to let you know you are not alone. Many many people come off the honeymoon stage between 6 months and 1 1/2 years or so, to find they have more hunger, cravings, can eat more and have a hard time maintaining or losing. This is the Non-Honeymoon period..... sad but true. Maintinance is harder than loosing. Now is the time to really use what you found worked at first.... Protein first, log your food, sounds like you do plenty of exercise already, Water restriction after meals, but lots of it the rest of the time.... I am on the pouch test right now, the first time in 4+ years, and the water weight is dumping off... 5 pounds in two days.... its really about the protein first and lots of fluids. Im hoping to get a kick in the butt away from excess carbs. I took three years to get to goal... so it wasnt ever that easy, 5:2 got me to goal in end... (the end is when you die, so really not the end yet...) Chin up.... do what you can to feel better, get sleep and such... just don't quit, its an ongoing battle. Best of luck to you.

I really need your help guys. Please!

You are in the right place at the right time. Think of it as a long plateau that you can learn from. I might not be the last one.... (I have had a couple as well!) and you will do better next time, and even better after that! So goes life. Logging is great, finding something you like to do is great (I bellydance and bird watch) and remember its a process that last for life, and you are still alive!
  12. Sorry you have run into the wrong peeps here! At 4+ years, maintenance is the hardest part... and goes on forever! Coming here really helps me to stay in the game. Its the times that I want to be "normal" and just follow my nose without staying conscious of my actions that I start to regain. It took me 3 years to get to goal, and I have had ups and downs during maintenance... I am up right now, but heading down again... Usually the people I see giving "holier than thou" comments are still somewhere in the honeymoon phase, and really don't have a long term clue yet. Stick with us, and the Vets forum are for those who are mostly beyond the honeymoon, and facing the reality of reality further out!

    Hey all I'm back!

    Welcome back!
  14. Lisa, glad to see you back here. I want to let you know that you are not alone, so many here have had greif in their lives, or will in the future. This year was (is) rough for me too, and some days all I want to do is EAT. I just reach for the drug. I feel a little space to breath right now, and am starting to change my point of view enough to also change some of the way I cope. I always swore I would never do the 5 day pouch test, but started it yesterday, with the goal in mind of getting a little bit further off my carb addiction, and to show myself I could really do this for 5 little days. I feel better allready. Really, the food still tastes good, I can eat as many meals as I want to, and the number on the scale is budging down. I just plan the whole day, with the promis to myself that If I am still hungry, I can eat another meal if I need to. Take care dear.

Cathy, I started it yesterday, and lost 3 pounds the first day! All water, but thats still great! I just had to try something to get out of my rut.... days one and two- protein drinks, soups including hearty soups, SF pudding and jello, really not that hard to follow for two days.... join me?

    5 day pouch test

http://5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html There are recipes for hearty soups, they do have meat, beans, fats, cheese in them... I am starting today, and made a split pea soup to use as part of my liquid days one and two. I dont eat meat, but am including TVP to bring up the protein content. The diet asks us not to starve, but to eat whats on the list. I'm taking her at her word. The rest of the day I will have Protein Drinks, and a SF pudding which is also included on the OK list for days one and two. All together, the cals are only around 500.... and I am having around 5 meals/snacks

    All or Nothing Thinking

Its not for everyone, but when I weigh every day and log my food every day, I am much more successful. When I don't do that, I WILL weigh more when I eventually do. When i have a eating challange coming up, holiday, birthday, vacation... I try and write down ahead of time what will be on the menu.... at least for some of the days. I would include wine and cake! Eat protein first, and then just enjoy. Eat slowly. Water up a half hour before food.

    More on the Gut Brain

Branches of the the Vagus nerve are disrupted by the surgery... This may have something to do with changes...

How was your 5:2 day today?

This looks so much fun. Great pics too. I have been having more pain lately as well... the hip, which just got better over night after surgery is starting up again. I have gained weight, and perhaps this is the culprit. I am having trouble so far losing it... was up to 189 last week, am down to 187 right now, but cant seem to get below that yet... still trying. My bounce was 171-173ish. OH to be back in the 70's again. My life is a real chalange right now... All the deaths in the last year are piling up on me now... just sadder than usual... my job is slowly going down the drain... they just announced they are stopping health care and we will all have to go onto California Care... I am so glad it is there, but my low paying job will now leave me with more expences and probably no more pay. The idea of changing medical plans and going to a different set of Drs really blows... I will have to see how that all goes. I have two law suits in the works and one more on the horizion... I never thought I would see that in my life... so stressfull. One suit about my job, and two about my house. I make so little, and can live on so little another $100 hurts, but I can probably do it if no big things come up. My only real luxury expences are the Gym and my ancestry.com membership, and trying to eat organic more often than not. I am also tied into my dog insurance untill the end of the year... even though shes dead. If I was into astrology, I would have to say there is some big shakeup in the stars right now for me.... Love hearing about the dating ladies... It has been so long sence I was in the "scene" that I can imagine being there myself... but I hear your complex needs and desires... as well as the simple ones. Having someone to do stuff with is a joy with the right person.
