    Wanted to introduce myself

The sleeve is not on my Drs "menu" yet. All of my information has been for RNY... he has done many many RNY surgeries and is the head of a center of excellence in a teaching hospital. I do not yet know how many sleeves he has done... I plan on asking. His partner Dr who at this time only does RNY did recommend me for a sleeve, and the main Dr agreed to perform it so.....I will go with him unless I find out something that changes my mind. The centers safety record is well above average at this time for RNY. They won't even touch the band... WAY too many problems with that in the long run. One study said that the percentages of leaks per 100 is 0.7%. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17981515

    Blood Pressure Issues

I take Metropolol too, for a-fib. My doc said that if my heart stays pretty normal, he can reduce the med...don't think I can ever stop it though....it lowers the BP too, which is usually very low now like 100/74 (except when I go to the Drs of course!)

    FOUR week stall... grrr

That must be so frustrating! Hang in there, your body is being stubborn for some reason... drink Water, keep moving... eat your Protein... the body will decide to let go when its good and ready. Have your been measuring? I bet your body is changing shape. Hang in there! It will happen....

    Wanted to introduce myself

Good luck with whatever choice you make! I was looking into RNY and my surgeon recommended the sleeve... once I looked into it I knew it WAS the right one for me. My date is Jan 18 2011.
  10. Youve done great! Congrats. I think you are probably still losing... just slow? My Doc said you can lose for two years... just slow at the end...keep up the good work, step up the exercise a little and mix it up a bit. Perhaps your on a stall too....If you follow the rules, I think you will be ok.
  11. Did you express your concirns about losing and vacation to them while in the office? I would email or call and just let them know if you didn't. This would stress me out for sure! Don't give up... your so close... dig in and do what you can... hopefully they are just putting on the mega pressure for your own good...although its hard to imagin it now!

    New design issue

they look like bruising colors to me.... or someting from a hospital remodeled in the 1980's. In color theory these colors are called "broken" colors... not pure colors..but broken with a little contrasting color to make them neutral and dull.
  13. A very inspiring story! I hope this is me sometime next summer. thanks!

    Joint pain

This is such good news! I have problems with a knee, my hip and flat feet... Its one reason I chose sleeve insted of RNY...taking asprin....My Dr said the surgery will not fix the damage, but could improve the pain.

    weird question????

I have a hump too. I think it is at least part fat... but I did have it a bit when I was normal weight. I always wondered if it could be part of cushings, because I have a protruding lower tummy too, even when thinner. The Drs said probably not. Anyway, it will be nice if it gets smaller when I lose weight. At one point I almost got a tattoo on it, and made it really stand out... I wore low back tops and cut my hair in an a-line that showed off my neck. I rocked it instead of hiding it. Sometimes you just have to work what you got. Now that Im fatter, I dont rock it, perhaps when I lose some I will again...

    I see people differently now....

So funny, just last week I wrote a blog about passing for thin: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/blog/232/entry-941-passing-for-thin/ I feel the same way! I have just gotten my date, but am projecting my feelings about the weight loss already...
  17. I know I have checked a few times to see if she has been on line or posted anything new... nothing for a while...
  18. I have been told not to lift over 10 lbs for 6 weeks....watch the suitcases!

    Edema

I do have some problem with this... mostly when its hot out, or humid, or Im on a plane trip, or...... One thing I do that hepls is eat more veggies.... like a cucumber and tomatoe salad... hold the salt... a few days of this seems to really help me to drop the water. Just a little thing that helps. Sometimes I just have to put my feet up... I hate it! I hope once I get my surgery the bloated ankles/feet go away....

My nut said 10lbs a month average... so you are right on target! Keep up the good work. I was put on a diet at 9 also... My doc actually gave me Dexedrine! My mom said I was running around and acting strange so she took me off of it. Thanks mom! Anyway I went on many diets and cooked my own dinners, joined weight watchers when they made you make your own ketchup out of tomatoe juice....you know the drill. I have been very successfull at many things, MA degree, world travel, dream job (not a lot of money, but very cool job) and local fame.... Even though I have always thought I was fat (perhaps from those first years of dieting as a child?) I look back now, and see I was not (very) fat untill about 20 years ago(Im 57 now). Funny how you can look back at the old pics and see how you have NO butt and only one chin! I thought I was FAT! This is like a new history for me... All those years I thought I was fat... and now I am saying I was NOT fat then (between normal and overweight). Perception. So now I really am "obese"...why does that word sound so....yuck. And I still feel fat....but not as fat as I look to myself when I look in the mirror. I am really going to have to work on that as I lose weight. Psychologist! Here I come!
  22. Maddie! Thats quite a chunk of research! You make me glad I don't like soft drinks.....
