  1. I am not quite a goal yet, but I want you ALL to know, before you know it, your dreams will come true! I am going on my first long flight in over a year, and am looking forward to seeing how I fit in the chair and DON'T squish out my neighbors and have to spend the flight with my wings tucked in tight!
  2. Did your doctor give you an eating plan to follow early on? You could go back on that until you lose a few Kgs? There are several vegetarians here, including me. Totally raw vegan would be much harder to get in your proteins. Eat lots of raw if it agrees with your tummy, and add in cooked proteins to supplement. Log your calories and get in some exercise. Its a diet again, but to get back to your goal thats ok right? ...and congratulations on quitting smoking! That will help your health so much in the long run!

    Your Over Weight Friends?

Three friends are overweight. One of them is a Dr. and when I told her at first she was aginst but said she would try and be positive around me. Now that she has seen now well I have done she has talked about wishing she could get it too. (Her BMI is below 35) The second had part of her stomach removed 30 years ago after an accident, lost a bunch of weight but has gained some of it back. She was worried at first that I would not be the same old me if I got skinny... and my weight was part of my persona. She is now a big supporter and seems to see it is still me in just a smaller package. The third one has gained and lost many times... and is thinking about the possibility of getting the sleeve too after seeing my success. She has been very positive and curious every time I see her. I have to say when she had lost weight in the past, I was not as nice about it to her... I was so jealous and felt like such a personal failure.I never said anything bad to her, but avoided seeing her, because of my feelings. I am ashamed of that behavior, and kind of shocked at myself when those feelings came up.

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?

Sounds great Meg! I went out to the garden and picked fresh kale. Chopped it fine, mixed with walnuts, white stilton and dried blueberries (I usually use fresh, but was out) I chopped up some Jicama for crunch, a splash of low fat ginger sesame dressing.... BIG YUM!

    Smoking After Gastric Sleeve Surgery

...My doctor knew I smoked. He said it was more important that I beat the food issues that contributed to my obesity AND that one should never try to beat 2 addictions at once. I continued to smoke for 3 months after my surgery with no healing issues.... Sounds like it to me.

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?

I think medical science does not account for something. Did you figure your whole weight loss experience time? From surgery? or where you are now till you are finished losing?..only 2 pounds but still... I am eating around 12-1600 cals a day , so should be losing something, but really sticking to the same area for quite a while... even up a bit. Here is one of my charts from the simulator: Assuming I eat more cals than I log (I don't log green veggies, carrots or tomatoes) and perhaps forget some things, or under estimate cals... always possible.... then 1500 could be right. This does not account for the 400-800 calories a day I ate for many months in the beginning. The activity choices.. I think the desk lifestyle is pretty right on for much of my life, however I do work out 4-5 times a week as well so I think my activity choice is pretty right on. I wonder what it is that keeps many/most of us needing so much less calories to maintain... calories in calories out... but that means we are in hibernation most of the time or eating in our sleep!

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?

here it is again. My computer askes me if i will allow a Java applet to open, I say yes, then it takes a little time for the button to show up on the screen, then press the button, then it takes a little time for the applet to open... then you can fill it in and everything is pretty easy. It also offers to walk you through the program.

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?

5'3" 167 lbs 30 yrs, and I would like to lose 40 pounds in <3 months. lose at 667 cals a day and maintain at 2033 final fat 29.7 final bmi 23.1 final weight130.6 you would have to starve yourself to lose that fast. I put your activity at low generally, and high extra activity like having a desk job then running or going to the gym after work... in 180 days 1375 lose 2019cal maintain 128 weight 29.2 body fat 22.9 bmi This program shows how long you diet changes your outcome... so putting in all of your weight loss from the beginning might change the numbers again.

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?

This application is pretty cool... it was very close to how much I lost so far. It shows how much you should eat to lose whaterver you want an how much time it will take, check it out... http://bwsimulator.niddk.nih.gov/ UPDATE Even though this application did estimate how much I would lose in the time I did (within 6-7 pounds)... really I ate much less to get there than they suggested. This seems to be the case for many here.
  19. It is a big change, but you know, you can still eat good stuff.. just later on, and in smaller amounts... going out will be for the company more, not the food and cigs... and as far a class of wine? Why not. Later on, that is. Your life will be a new normal. You can still kick up your heals, wear that little black dress like you haven't been able to for years, and do it for many more years than if you hadn't done the surgery. Cheers! Your new life is going to be GOOD.
  20. Thanks for the recipe! Looks yummy!

Weight Loss Advice 'ignores Body Changes'

The weight simulator is pretty cool... It shows me very close to the predicted weight... I am only 6 1/2 pounds over the predicted weight... It shows I can eat 1500 cals to lose to the desired weight of 160.... I do exercise a little more than the level I chose... I ate a little less than the 1500 cals early on... (even how Im often less than that trying to stay around 1250) But all in all, pretty darn close! http://bwsimulator.niddk.nih.gov/
