How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sarsar, hurray for skinny jeans! CWJane, I married someone 12 years younger, and his last GF was 8 years older than him... sometimes its just right! Especially if you have the energy for it. I dated a guy 14 years older than me, he was very hip and cool... good dresser and stylish... but once in a while people would say "why are you dating your father!" (yuck, did not see him that way at all!) But you get along with who you get along with. -
Queen, I hope you like it as much as I have...

How was your 5:2 day today?

Morning (afternoon and evening!) all! Coops, Love your little starfish and finish line ticker! Swizzly, My almost worst feeling thing is moving. I am not a "neat" person, I am a "collector" which means I have tons of crap... I hate moving it all! Georgia, I just can't believe how successful the 5:2 has been for you, and how even with holiday cheer everywhere, you have continued to lose.... you too Coops! , your body and head are really in this game, cool! The leftovers are clearing out quickly here... hubby is very happy to help with that and I am dishing him up big plates to get it out of here.... having some myself, but measuring and counting. I have not lost, but only up about 1 1/2 pounds, which is probably water weight from all the carbs and salt, I'm pretty sure a couple of fast days of clean eating will finish those off... you know the old advice to switch it up if you are staling? I am switching it up... just a little... and will see if the body wants to dump some more weight after I clean it up! Globe, you sound really good too, so happy to hear that positivity, it's healing to us all! Sarsar, Brown, Skinny, Swiz and al l(I know Im missing some of you girls..don't mean too.), we do have a nice little family of sleeve sisters here. -

So many recipes online, what do you feel like eating? What Flavor profile? just type in "tofu recipe" and "Thai, or Itallian, or Indian or whatever" you can ask for low carb, or no sugar, or low fat", whatever you want to have. Lots will come up. google sample for "tofu recipe low carb Italian" http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=tofu+recipe+low+carb+itallian&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8#q=tofu+recipe+low+carb+italian&rls=en&spell=1

Great article, she really spells it out.

It seems to me that exercise changes the shape of your body, so when the fat goes, there is a shape there formed by what you do. I do belly dance, and it really develops a "belly dance body" Runners, swimmers have very distinct body looks. It also helps my balance and such, but did I need to do it to get weight loss results? Probably not that much. I do eat back my exercise calories, and that has helped me stay on plan at times when I wanted more to eat.

Risks of Side Effects from VSG
feedyoureye replied to SKCUNNINGHAM's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Staples are still used in the regular sleeve. Stomach reduction has been used for weight loss as part of the DS sense 1986. In this case, only 70% of the stomach may be removed... compared to the 85 in the sleeve...the same part is removed, and the pyloris was also kept intact at this time, like the sleeve does. One reason to have the sleeve and not RNY is you can safely scope all of the remaining stomach for cancers and such. -

Jane, our families could definitely "roll" together! And good looking boys by the way! Globe, it sounds like you had a nice thanksgiving. And some leftovers for today is nice for a change. I know what you mean by salty... it can stop me from eating something too... and TGIsleeve! I did some grazing, and was pretty stuffed at one point, but not like the good old days! Stuffed with stuffing! Brown, nice to have a family get together for sure. My husband usually can't stand my family.. He will often just back out at the last minute from get togethers... but even he said it was nice this time. Anyway, I will eat leftovers for a couple of days, but measure, post to MFP and amend with lots of veggies and extra protein to tame them into healthy side dishes. Thats the plan anyway. And there is always hubby, to vacuum up the stuff I should not have more of. -

Good evening all! I have been eating my way around town, luckily I rode my bike for around 2 hours and actually have calories left to eat if I want to, I think MFP said I should be eating 1900 cals today. Not often that that happens! I made sugar free deserts and cranberry sauce, and other not as bad option foods today. I have had a blast today, and will post pics of the "Appetite Enhancement Ride" tomorrow. What a bunch of cool nuts. Lots of lowbrow and lowrider bikes, vintage, dressup, tattoos, crazy fur hats and mondo local booze and weed. I didn't see one drunk bike crash today, unlike other years, so that was good. The sun was shining, and everyone had to take their jackets off. Some even swam at the river where the ride ends. We ran into a few friends, and took two neighbor boys with us to introduce them to a towny life tradition. They said they had fun. I am thankful for many things, and you gals are one of them! Cheers, K -
Enough Already With The Compliments And Questions
feedyoureye replied to mistysj's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I had tons of compliments, and the mixed reactions of those who cant get their head around it, or who are jealous or feel confronted by my weight loss.... when i had the 22 pound regain, the compliments mostly stopped....no one but me ever mentioned my weight regain... but when I re-lost the regain, and got to goal, the compliments started again... and the comments "Have you lost MORE weight?!!! Head shaking... to tell you the truth, I know I had reactions when people around me lost a lot of weight, or gained it for that matter... I almost think its an animal thing. I've had men volunteer that they liked me better fat (thanks for that!) and many more tell me I'm hot... Being fat is so unacceptable in our culture generally, and the added health problems... It is a hot button topic for sure. There there are the people who never new me as anything but "normal" and "sporty" That always cracks me up. Honestly, I miss the attention a little when I don't get it... but know its really not that big of a deal one way or the other. I would rather get attention for my other skills! I've had this same experience. -
Take care. I hope your ER visit is productive and you get back on track and feeling better really soon.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Man Globe, when it rains it pours! Surely you can get on disability and medicare in the states? Land somewhere you want to be and go for that? Does your employer have any kind of retirement plan, jobs, counciling, or HR in the states you can use? Im feeling for you, so sorry to hear this. It seems like I miss ex-b-friends families more than them! So I stayed the same weight for another day in a row. Hail 5:2 (this week its more like the 6:1) and sleeve! I will take my camera on my "appetite enhancement ride" today, like I need to enhance my appetite! -
Im sure the 5:2 vets will be happy to give support here on this thread if anyone has questions. This site has a copy of the Eat, Fast, Live longer BBC documentary that started this protocol... excuse the popup adds, annoying, but the doc (50+ minutes long) is so worth watching. This plan is a longevity plan, not a weight loss plan, but weight loss can accompany the practice... which is the kind of company I like! If you start the plan, report here so we can see how your doing! http://leangainsguide.com/diet/igf-1-and-fasting/

8 Months Out From Surgery And 0.8 Lb From Goal... Looking For Veteran Guidance.
feedyoureye replied to lookingforwardnotback's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good advice. Just beware runaway weight gain, get on top of it quick, its harder to lose the second time! -
See my signature line for my 5:2 loss..... I eat around 12-1500 on feast days (depending on exercise) and 550 or so on the two fast days (mon and ths for me) I had a 22 pound regain, lost 5 of that, started the 5:2 protocal and lost the rest, plus got to goal. I am now maintaining still using the 5:2.... or occasionally 6:1. Its pretty easy to do, theres always tomorrow to eat what you want. It worked for me when it seemed nothing else would. ...start the 5:2 plan (6-11-2013)- 190.9 almost 3 years after surgery First Goal, get to the 160's (11-7-13) 168.7 still on the 5:2! There is a private 5:2 group. We might entertain a new member or two, but new members must show a commitment to the lifestyle, and show they can get along in a positive way... we are a very close and supportive group.

Please Help Me Wrap My Head Around This...
feedyoureye replied to LipstickLady's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
When I had lost quite a bit of weight, my husband would point at someone and say "She looks like you" "She is your size (but she has bigger boobs)" I never asked him to do it, but it was really good for me, Lots of times I would not believe him... but then, I would accept it, because I was in no shape to know what size I was! I also see pics of myself when I was fat,and I can't believe that girl was me. I feel sorry for her.... I definitely have a disconnect. I like to see myself in pics next to someone I know for comparison. -

157!!! did you hear yourself? Thats awesome Coops! Freestyle! That about says it for me too... I ate and ate and ate all day.... or so it seemed.... whatever I wanted, then cooked stuffing, winter squash pies, cherry cobbler.... even bought a little box of goldfish... not THAT little, ate half of them. LOTS of salty snacky treats. I faced my maker (Myfitnesspal) and when all was said and done, I was below my normal days calories. WHAT?!! My brain may be on crack, but my sleeve is still working. It was not a successful fast day, but it was a pretty successful day before holiday day. CGJ, a fashion thread would be fun! -

CGJ, I always like the idea of hosting big parties, have done a few through the years, like you say, you need the space to do it. Our house is teenie tiny, so unless we can use the outdoors, forget it. I had thanksgiving at my place one year, and we had it spread out in every room to make room for it all. And then after cooking for three days, it was over in about 30 minutes! Laura, the ride will be a blast... to get to town we ride through the American River Parkway, which is beautiful. I am jealous of your mushroom hunting! Three days after a rain I hear. Cathy, So hard to see them go that way. I'm glad to hear she seems happy though. So nice of you to take her out and get your hubby a card. Later girls...... oh checking in.... I scavenged (picture a vulture with my head on it!) some corn chips and a cookie at work.... bad me! It could have been worse. Not really a fast day after all, but I think I can pull off less calories than a normal day.... cheers, Kim
