Many of us vets who have been using the 5:2 protocol also believe it will be perfect for maintenance with a few modifications.

How was your 5:2 day today?
feedyoureye replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm fasting today too... and boy the old mind just jumps right to food about every 5 minutes! After the last couple of days, its not surprising. I think I can make it though. I planned my meals, and that gives me the feeling of security that I won't starve today. Has anyone ever considered that we may have starved to death in numerous past lives and are eating to avoid that experience this time? Hum? I went to a past life hypnotist YEARS ago, and that is what he said the problem was. I was regressed, and had a "memory" of being a little skinny bony little asian lady lying in a ditch by a road, and felt just like I was going to break in half I was so brittle, starved and vulnerable. Theres a memory for you! Then I died. That could make anyone want to eat and get fat while you have the chance! -
I just posted a big 5:2 info and links page here: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/291240-52-links-and-info/

This should keep everybody busy that are interested in the 5:2, keep in mind this is for people who are at least a year out, have hit the wall, or started regaining... have not reached goal after a loooong stall... the rest of you, ring the life out of your Dr and Nuts plan before going here.... Not all people lose weight on this plan, it is not a quick weight loss plan, it is a lifestyle protocol that is a plan to improve longevity, and some people lose weight on it too. It is not a quick fix. That being said, some people here who could just not get the last few pounds off, or were starting to gain, have found success with this protocol..... 2 1/2 after WLS I had gained 22 pounds, and had never gotten to goal... I felt like I had tried everything, and this plan got the regain off, and I am now at goal, maintaining my bounce range through the holidays so far! I am not alone in that.

Its interesting how many art lovers and artists are in our group... do I smell group show in the future? I belong to an internet art group that started showing, and we have shown all over the place. You never know things could blow up! (artdorks.com)We have been disbanded for a while, but just had a reunion show that was fun. So I go birdwatching for two days, I even check in here a time or three, and this morning I take an hour to catch up! Great reading people! Love the mini life stories! Yeah, I responded to the disgruntled cant find the group lady.. oh well! I think I will post some links and stuff on the vets form... and links only page so it doesnt get clogged up with other stuff.... (fat chance there!) -
So glad you are finding success with your band! FYI, stomachs don't absorb calories, intestines do, stomachs break down food, and add acid, and some other chemicals to it (including the hunger hormone) to prep it for absorption in the intestines. The WLS's that shorten the intestinal transit by bypass are the ones that prevent some of the absorption of nutrition (RNY,DS- Not the Sleeve). that is all, carry on.

Cloths, Style, Hair, Foundations....
feedyoureye replied to feedyoureye's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wore one to an art opening the other night... No pics(what was I thinking!) Anyway, pretty comfortable, the only thing was all the skin/fat pooched out the top... dont mind if the boobs do that, but the back?! Anyway, the waist looked good and I will take pics next time. It just demands a blouse/dress thats not too tight except in the waist...I wore the little under bust number, and it took 2 inches off... the other one is supposed to take 5 inches off! We will see! -
What did Brown eat today?
feedyoureye replied to BrownDoesAll's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Honestly Wanda, I am in about the same place as you! I don't eat much fast food, (used to!) but the treats and parties are abundant. I say no sometimes and yes others. I do write it down on weekdays, because my weekdays are much like my weekends right now! My plan at this time is TRY to fast two days, and if not that then one day a week until new years when things should calm down. So far this has worked pretty well... I went on hikes the last two days. I am in the high side of my current bounce range right now... dont know if its real gain or just bounce from all the salt and sugar and alcohol! My cals a between ok and a little high. It is really hard to eat clean and sober..... but Im trying to use the 5:2 as a shield. This week will be one of the crazyest.... 4 parties! All eating parties, snacky, foodie, you know how that is... like you have said how do you count 4 potatoe chips and french onion dip! I actually try... spend the time on MFP and estimate. Its not perfect by any means, I just try to figure the best I can... Yesterday I went on the road with a foodie friend.... first stop? donuts and starbuck! That was just the start! I packed a lunch which was OK stuff.... walked 3 1/2 miles, stopped for Mexican on the way home... (thanks you sleeve for keeping me from eating the whole plate!) Came home, fed the leftovers to hubby, had Cookies and tea then a 1/2 cup of "trail mix" nuts, raisins, marshmallows, chocolate chips.... Any one of those things could have been ok, but all of them! HOLIDAYS! And that wasn't even a party! ( I came out at around (1647 cals- in the old days that would be a diet day!) ) Anyway, I am a bad influence here.....(devil face!) but I am trying to write it all down, weigh in the AM, drink all my Water, not freak out, and enjoy the days with the idea that it will mellow out pretty soon, and I can lessen the damage by saying NO sometimes, and fasting 1-2 days a week until then. I am fasting today....probably the only day I can officially fast this week if I want to go to the parties and such. I might fast in the AM on evening party day ... I did this once last week and the cals came out around 900... not a real fast, but not serious damage at all. Best of luck. -
I watched it on a PBS site, because it replayed in the US, but it seemsall shows were yanked at some point.. I will see if I can find it somewhere. We went undergound. It turned into a more personal sharing site, and we decided we needed the privacy to keep the openness we enjoyed about it. We are here to support anyone who is doing the 5:2 though with a couple of other 5:2 threads. We may consider accepting a couple of applications from Vets who have been doing the 5:2 and are already "friends" with us in other posts... the group is divided on this so its not a sure thing.

Kelly, your pic looks so much like a friend of mine named Kelly, that should be easy. Don't feel bad about missing some face time with us... someone has to check in the least (thats not even you!) and someone the most. You are our sister that has "been busy" still a sister! Globe! Im so impressed with your note taking! I just blast through and forget 75% of the stuff I wanted to say... Sorry you have to go through the dad anniversary at the holidays... My folks are in their 80s and I can see it coming. You know, my doc, when I was getting the talk before surgery, full of warnings and benefits, said many people get depressed after the surgery. Its statistically significant numbers. I used my list today to try and get some names straight.... thanks again for that... Sheryl Jane, your family thing sounds nice. I hope we can pull off something nice this year... our get togethers always gather in all the strays and black sheep... so disfunction is on parade, but everyone needs a little love, so that is the way and this is the season. My mom and dad are the "heads" of the family, and make this happen, being so old now, it is hard, and these gatherings may not be long for this world. My nephew has taken on Thanksgiving and has offered for Xmas... he lives in town now, but if he moves... no one even has the space or money to really make it happen the way it has in the past. I went for a great birdwatch walk yesterday, out in nature and great weather. Then I ate a big fat brownie, Vietnamese food ,and wine which was great, but full of salt. up one pound, but feeling ok about it. More of the same today. The basket of brownines and cookies we won in the raffle are almost gone, I ate two of the dozen packets... my visiting friend ate two and hubby will do a good job scarfing the rest... almost done and gone. -

Dee! You look so darling! Laura, Crap! That sounds intense! I would think if she can keep her ass out of the fire for a couple of years, she might just grow out of it. You needed to stand up for yourself, and I'm so glad you did. Im sure you know, if someone is a danger to themselves or others, they can be admitted to a 72 hour watch... 5150...... I would want her out too... but be so worried for her as well! I can understand the goodie binge..... -
Let me add, I have NOT been perfect by anyones measure... and its still helps me stay on track!

Put it in the tracker! It is tempting to just close the eyes... but tracking through difficulties is taking some control of the situation. better to know than not! love all the other family stories! -

I made soup today. All organic veggies, some from the garden, cooked until it was thick and rich. What did hubby say? Tastless. It has NO flavor whatsoever. I told him to dump some salt and chili in it and thats what he did. If he makes anything for me, even if its not my cup of tea, I say thank you. He is not what you would call a grateful person. The world seldom satisfies him. Its too bad, really you miss out on so much when you think nothing is ever really good enough. He does not do this all the time, but he gets on jags, and then it is yoyo night here too! -

I was trying to figure out what I feel like in regards to eating right now, and I see myself as a shark... I just want to close my eyes, roll over and bite down on whatever is in front of me that smells good! Heaven help me. I got up this morning and baked a "pumpkin pie" (winter squash with fake eggs, fake sugar and a shot of molassis....organic and whole grain crumbles on top) Better than a real slice of pumpkin pie, but with all the parties coming up... all great cooks by the way... I need more than a humble SF pumpkin pie to get me through it all. Deep breath... onward with the week! Take your best shot and there is always the new year to limp back on track! I know I'm not alone... that makes it feel more manageable somehow ladies, thanks! -

So yesterday I had a protein drink and that all until 6pm. Then....PARTYTIME!!! Yikes, I went to a Hawaiian theme party given by the local PBS station for people that volunteered in the last year (or 20). Bar with blue hawaiians, and a buffet full of pit smoked meat and a few veggie choices... so the buffet was not too bad.... except the tray of chocolate covered cookies... had a good handful of those... there was a raffle, and Craig won a gift basket of excellent cookies and brownies...( ) Im going to have to navigate around those this weekend... I came home, had some protein, went on MFP and ended up around 950 cals... not exactly a fast day.... but could be worse, did not gain... did not lose... It was a blast though. Most everyone dressed up in tropical ware... of course Craig and I looked like we just rode in with the Hells Angles.... Oh well! I forgot it was themed! No one there cared! I even got up and did a hula class with some others for group bonding and humiliation! -

My hubby has watched the whole 11 years worth, after I would go to bed. I started watching it at the beginning, but could NOT understand it. Later on I watched a bit here and there and think it was brilliant, at times poetic, but It was just too hard to understand. I watched the "Being Human" and liked it quite a bit. We watch lots of British, New Zealand and some Australian TV. We watched an Austrailan show called "Laid" about this woman whos lovers all died after she had sex with them. It was so strange and funny. I don't usually like Australian TV, but she was brilliant. Of course theres Dr Who, Torchwood, Him and Her....the Misfits... also hard to understand at times....I missed a bunch of them because I just couldn't keep up. Thanks for the name lists guys! It helps a lot!.
