    What Are Slimes?

yup...my mouth started watering, I had the feeling I should not eat or drink anything else... OR swallow the saliva... I started spitting until the slime and saliva event was over. This only happened once in the hospital and once at home the first week. It did not hurt ... just YUCK. Nothing came up from my stomach...

    Skinny girl issues...WTH!!!!!

Lydia... you are one sexy grandma! How about making a card with your Surgeons contact info on one side and the quote "I just added 2 1/2 years to my life" on the other side, just pass it to them if they have something nasty to say.

    I Have Gained...@#$%&**!

I am 3 pounds up and down all the time. Its probably water weight. Keep the long view... if your not eating off plan, things will adjust down soon. Drink lots of water, and watch the salt for a few days. Deep breath... you will be fine!
  5. Deep breath! I guess I would tell myself..."Don't overthink" just enjoy and respond when necessary. You do not sound desperate for a man... and this is mature of you... I think you will be fine! I am getting more attention for sure... and I am 58 and married! Go figure.

71/2 Months Out From Gastric Sleeve Surgery

WOW!! That is fantastic! The weight is flying off of you! I think your surgeons decision was the best thing that could have happened to you. That was your lucky day! The DS has so many problems attached to it... Good luck to you getting the rest off without it! Cheers and welcome.
  7. I am a vegetarian so most of my protein sources have carbs in them. I eat around 90-150 carbs a day, mostly from good clean sources with a few chocolate chips thrown in for good measure! I keep track of calories, get in my 65+ gms of protein a day, and try to get in variety for the rest of my 1100-1400 cals a day. I have 6 pounds to get to "normal" weight and have eaten regular food mostly the whole time. I think of myself as losing slowly, but 82 pounds in 10 months is NOT that slow. The 10 more pounds I am shooting for will come off eventually... while I am eating good whole grain, garden grown, home made carb including food in small doses. I love my sleeve! ...the only "phony" food I eat is hi quality vegetarian protein foods, like protein chips, bars, cereal and drinks... to help me keep my protein up and keep my hands off of junk like candy bars and chips. You have to figure out for yourself what you can live with for the long run.
  8. Keep in mind the stomach is numb and very injured! Nerves were cut. It may not know what the heck is happening to it... some people have terrible effects, and you have not... which is GREAT for you, I was pretty much the same, but this does not mean everything is cool. Watch your intake, sipping is good. Watch your use of the stomach muscles too...Take it slow and after 6 weeks the stomach is healed most of the way. You can play with it more then. Restriction shows up seriously with dense protein after 4-6 weeks. Take care girl!

    Must I Exercise Every Day?

My doc said there was a real chance to have depression with the sleeve. Don't know why... hormones? So far so good for me, but the stats were pretty high. Talk to your Doc about it? Best of luck. You may need your meds changed.... and by the way... Great job so far!
  10. Me too.. I do try to get in protein first... but have small sides of what ever I want. I do choose whole grain and low sugar most of the time. I do write down what I eat and watch the calories. I stay in a 3 pound range, and once in a month or so drop into a lower range... about a pound or two lower... so far. I am 6 pounds till "normal" and 10 pounds to goal.
  11. Everyone ready for Thanksgiving? I just bought the fixings for some of my fav foods...in small amounts of course. Love that sleeve!

    i'm so sad.

My new wardrobe is 85% thrift store... and I get tons of compliments!
  15. Home stretch in the holidays! Its bound to be filled with temptation. And after the honeymoon months, the weightloss does slow down for everyone. This does NOT mean your are failing. Just go for the protein first... to help make sure there is not that much room left for treats... the holidays will be over soon, and it will get easier to stay on the best plan for using the sleeve soon... I use some protein bars to fill in for sweet cravings... I cut up a balance bar into little bites... and snack away. I do write everything down to stay aware of what Im eating, and do workouts for fun time!(I had to train myself to believe that...and now I do!)

    Where do you find motivation?

You have done so well so far! Congrats! Exercise can really change the way your body looks... and the way you feel for sure. I started trying to get fit a couple of years before I had surgery. I HATE boring exercise, and really can not run... the knees are semi-shot. I decided to take a bellydance class in my area. It was for beginners. I am for any exercise where you can go barefoot, wear jewelry, listen to great music, and get more graceful all at the same time! No one is great at any exercise at the beginning, but with time and effort, we get better, and I have been dancing now for 3 1/2 years and I am still getting better! When I started losing weight from surgery, I actually had some tone underneath the fat! I love the teacher, and the gals I exercise with. We even socialize now and then after class. I guess the key is finding something you will do, and enjoy. I hate missing class. I also lead a walking class twice a week... myself and another coworker lead 4-9 adults with disabilities on a neighborhood walk... its not very strenuous, but its regular and fun and about 1 1/2-2 miles twice a week. Regularity is key. With the dance class I set my self a goal at the beginning: " I will give myself 5years to get good enough to dance publicly if I want to." I did a public performance at 2 years, so I actually met my goal early, but the point is to keep up and see how far I can get over time....My balance is so much better, I am more graceful, and I DO have some pretty cool "moves" too! Good luck on finding that special something exercise.

    Gastric Sleeve Bougie Size?

Hahaha! Looks like it. good point. Also I think it is more accurate to say how much volume your stomach can hold, not weight. I can eat a cup + of some things (soup), and 1/2 cup of others... dense protein, and the time of day makes a difference how much as well...
