Hooray, I Was Not Stuck At 219
feedyoureye replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crosswind! You are back girl!... and 80 pounds lighter! I had surgery a couple months before you, and at 8 months was losing around 3-4 pounds a month. 5 is NOT outrageously, unjustly slow... its losing and will take you to where you want to go. When you get to goal, it will feel just a sweet if it takes 6 months or two years and it will still be goal. I figure my last few pounds(9) will take at least 3-4 more months, and could even be longer. Its time to get into the ZEN pleasures of S-L-O-W weight loss. Glad to see you back, you always contributed to this site in a unique and enjoyable way. Cheers and congratulations on your weight loss the size of a not so small child in less time then it takes to gestate a baby! (and you are stuck with them for 20+ years after!) -

Sounds nasty. I can eat sugar, but do have a limit where I start feeling pretty yuck. I stick to sugar free or very small portions now and usually feel fantastic. -
Disappointed About Weight Loss
feedyoureye replied to MrsPrissBecky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think tracking is key. We all stall now and then, but usually not for many months on end (although weeks on end for me). So you have lost 45 pounds in a year? Thats not terrible, but I'm sure you could tighten your habits up a bit and get back on track. The sleeve helps a lot, but you have the responsibility to watch what you eat, get more active and follow the rules most of the time. Do you have the option of getting a scan of your stomach and see for yourself whats up? Is your Doc near you- what does he say? That must be frustrating for you... come here and hang out, this forum has lots of support for those that reach out...if you post what you are eating and doing, we can take a look and give some ideas? -

Overly-ambitious Weight Loss Goal?
feedyoureye replied to goldenraisin214's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc asked me if I would be happy losing 50 pounds. I said yes, but would be happy losing more too! I am at -83 so far, and believe that I can lose another 9 in the next 3 months. That puts me at the top half of my normal range. The stats say to expect 57-75% excess weight loss (around that) but you can see many who lose more than that on these boards. My doc also said you will lose until you stop losing, and that will be your weight! He doesn't want people to think they have failed if they lose less than their ultimate goal. -
Do Younger Sleevers Lose More/faster?

My Bad Habits Are....

Soy meat can be quite nice. Its all really about the sauce or Soup its in. The texture of Saitan can be a problem, or really good, give it another chance, the right texture can be found and is really good. Try asian markets... I have just found a vietnamese take out here in Sacramento that makes amaizing veg dishes from tofu and saitan. My hobby is making fake meat! It can be really fun! Best of luck to you. -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
feedyoureye replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it would be pretty hard to gain a real pound at six weeks out... you would have to drink/EAT 3000 extra calories to do that...probably Water weight from extra salt... it will come off, don't stress about it. The holidays are hard, just take it one day at a time and log what you eat and drink to stay conscious. -
My Bad Habits Are....
feedyoureye replied to feedyoureye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Puja, I LOVE India! I have spent quite a bit of time there, mostly in Delhi and up in Mcleod Ganj. I guess lentils, yogurt and milk tea are the go to foods at this point. I think it would be hard. I can understand your fear based on your past experiences. This is the chance to make a whole new way of thinking and acting, one practice at a time. Perhaps you could get someone there to make you gluten from wheat flour? It is very protein rich, and would be delicious with a spicy sauce and a little whole wheat chapatti! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheat_gluten_(food) -
Awesome!!!

Like I was telling Puja, eat for medicine if you have too, if not for pleasure. If you put sludge in your tank, your car will run like cr@p, or die! You can do it! I do love melted cheese and peanut butter too...... Are you a vegetarian? -
I have had next to no problems. Others have had different problems. It is different for every person. The thing most people on this site have in common, is they love their sleeve, would do it again in a heartbeat, even WITH the problems. God wouldn't have made heart disease if He didn't want you to die early....? We have no problems with cardiac surgery to save peoples lives... why do we feel differently about obesity? Many people with heart disease could have had less problems if they just ate better and exercised... so they should not get surgery because of that? Take the help! Live a longer life! Bypass is a blessing...so is WLS! I realised after I got the surgery, that MOST overweight people will never get/take this opportunity... I am soooo lucky!

Anyone Wish They Had Not Done Their Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
feedyoureye replied to Karelia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry you are having such a hard time! I sure hope you feel better soon, and come to see all the awesome benefits of the sleeve that so many of us are experiencing. If sleevers regret the sleeve, its almost ALWAY the first month, then they LOVE it! I hope it all works out for you. -
What Is The Time Frame Of Gastric Sleeve Growth Again?
feedyoureye replied to june13sleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems like it must matter... I have a 36, oversewn, but that doesn't really tell the whole story... how long is the stomach? My Dr. makes the pyloris end bigger than the middle... I think i can hold more than some, but first meal I hold less... dense Protein I hold less. I can eat over a cup of mix veg and protein in the PM. In the AM about 1/3-2/3 cup something.... or half a sandwitch, a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese fills me up in the AM. I am sitting here eating broccoli with cheese sauce... about a cup of broccoli with about a half a cup of sauce, home made... around a cup and a little more all mixed up...I have really slowed down at about a half a cup... I will probably take a break (a few minutes) and eat some more. I'm not sure I will be able to eat it all. The rest will go with me for lunch tomorrow. I guess thats not to bad at 10 months out. I will have a snack sometime in the next couple of hours. That will make about a 1200 cal day. There was a couple of months that it seemed like I was adding a hundred calories every couple of weeks. I was just more hungry and could eat more and more. That slowed down, and seems to have stopped. If I eat the right things, I don't have a problem staying in the right calorie range to lose slowly (2-3 pounds a month). I hope it stays that way! Sorry, I'm rambling! -
Its just being smart! My doc said it is really the only way people lose weight and keep most of it off for any length of time. You DO have to work for it, but it is easier than losing and gaining and losing and gaining! Its a great tool.

My Bad Habits Are....
feedyoureye replied to feedyoureye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't chew my food as well as I did when I started out.... Thanks for sharing everyone! It's good to have a realistic view of ones behavior... NO MORE HIDING! In the past I never told anyone how much I weighed, when I hid food or ate alone, or how many servings... Its good to get it out in the open and go from there. ....And to see how much success there is here even with the bad habits! -

Check out netrition.com. They have a number of high protein, low carb foods to grab. I also find protein bars can be a big help getting in the protein. I use balance bars right now because they taste good and are vegetarian. There are many more to choose from as well. I have found veggie pepperoni and jerky.. of course there are lots of meat choices there too for on the go. Cheese sticks, cottage cheese or greek yogurt, cans of split pea or bean soup...hard boiled eggs....peanut butter and carrot slices... I like the Trader Joes almond/flax seed butter.... -

I have found some high Protein chips on line I order once in a while to feed my chip cravings. Also if you add cheese or hummus to the chips that helps to mediate the carbs. Love me some chips! http://www.netrition.com/genisoy_soy_crisps.html -
