Eating Disorder Developing After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
feedyoureye replied to CT Fats's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't really BELIEVE that I can keep this weight off. I really WANT to believe it, but reserve the right to see how it goes in the long run. I think this must be a self preservation method or something... my only experience is gaining the weight back.... The statistics say I have a better chance to lose the weight and keep most of it off then plain dieting and exercise alone. This gives me hope. When in the first stages after the surgery, when I was eating 4-6 hundred calories a day, I could see how the desire to comply and control my input could have gone towards anarexic control. I read in these forums people who were so desperate to get out of liquids, they would chew and spit out food, which is a method used by those with eating disorders. I could really feel the desperation of those posts. I don't want to fear food or over-love it ether. Thats one reason I have not used a strict low carb diet with the sleeve. I want to feel as normal and non restricted as I can manage and still lose weight. I'm rambling, but the whole eating attachment/repulsion thing is so worth looking into. -

I am guessing that what you are calling "extra weight" you mean extra skin? Excess body weight/fat is the amount you need to lose to get to a "normal" Body Mass Index. After you lose that, there may be some extra skin left over that used to be filled up with fat. This will shrink up some over a year or two after you finish losing the weight. I don't have much, not enough to bother getting plastic surgery. How much excess skin you have left has to do with several factors... your genetics, how much you have had to lose, what your expectations are and perhaps how much exercise you do.... perhaps your age as well. I am 56, have lost 84 pounds so far, and my skin is already shrinking. I have a couple of body parts that bother me a bit, but really not bad at all. Each of us is different. You can lose a few last pounds if you have excess skin removed.

Do People Treat You Different After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
feedyoureye replied to 2bfit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yesterday my husband said he and the neighbor fella were talking about how he(my husband) was married to a skinny wife. The neighbor said yeah and never had noticed how tall I was. I thought it was funny they were even talking about me at all with each other! I do get more attention from men for sure, young guys holding the door open, saying hi, eye contact... and women complementing me on my cloths and such. Checking me out. -
I have not made a study of it, but I dance and walk, no weights,,,Over time my lose skin has gotten better for sure. Bulking up a little will fill in the loose skin... my two years of working out dancing before surgery finally showed up after I lost most of the fat! Good luck, Im sure those who are more athletic than I can help with your question... my contribution is mostly that the skin will shrink on its own to a point with time.

How Long Was Your Longest Stall?
feedyoureye replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I input my daily weight into fitday.com. Then you can bring up a report/chart like the one I have shown here... you can look at the week, or months up to 12 months. I have been inputing every day for over 10 months. I then take a screen shot of the graph, save it as a .jpg and post. It is a fun and informative way to see your weight loss over time. I don't get a freaked out because I can see that there is a slow progression to goal, even though my weight seems like it is going up most of the time! -

...keep in mind, when the graph line goes up it does not mean I cheated or did something off plan, when it drops down it does not mean I was an angel... stay the course the best you can as a human. Loss or gain is not always predictable....at least not for me.... -

feedyoureye replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
6 weeks. I just kept on plan, and rode it out. I am losing slowly (2-3pounds a month) but I don't have far to go (9lbs) I have had several shorter stalls... between 2-4 weeks... my stalls are not flatline, but up and down the same 3 pounds for weeks. Here is a graph of my daily weigh ins for about the last 5 1/2 months... you can see a few stalls here... sorry, having trouble with upload....Here is an old one showing a stall,,,, -
