    Food Finds

You can also get peanut flour on Netrition.com... has even more protein... check the labels, they have a couple of brands and one has more than the other. Just add water, or for a treat add SF syrup. They also carry Bobs Red Mill low carb baking mix... you can make pancakes, muffins, cake, pizza dough... high protein and low carbs and pretty good! Most natural mix available.

    Help!

Some tightening of the loose skin will most likely happen over first year after surgery. No lotion will help, but might feel good!

Dill Pickles For A Snack Wth?

I eat some pickles, but keep in mind they are full of sodium.
  5. ....is over 18,000 strong, I think we are pretty nice considering there are so many of us! I don't want to see the site go the way of some others, but all in all, its the best site out there. Can you imagine having a classroom with that many and no one smarts off or says something nasty?... it only takes one......

    The Basics Boot Camp

Im going to try it after the New Year. Now is just too hard. So far I have not gained, just stayed the same within 2 pounds... which is really good in the big picture, but I would love to power these last few pounds off in the first half of the New Year! MORE GREEN VEGGIES! I can start that part now!

    That "certain Age"

Its all unknown territory at first, but soon you will be the expert of your own body... its a process of discovery. Just search the pages here when you have a question... you can find just about anything here... and LOTS of folks that have had the band. The further you are into the process, the more you can figure your body signals out, and things will look rosier. Welcome to the VST site!
  9. You need acid to absorb most calcium. Thats why we are recommended to use calcium citrate, that is more acid. The studies show those with weight loss surgery are much more likely to have bone fracture from calcium loss, so if you can get off of antacids, thats a good thing, and TAKE your calcium citrate for sure.

    Vegetarian Gastric Sleevers

Just saw this thread...Im a veg too. I have managed to eat enough protein and am at 11 months out. Dairy, TVP, Gluten(Saitan)--- I make my own tofurky type of roast from scratch. Tofurky is great sliced cold in a sandwich... eggs, tofu, I have found a great vege Vietnamese restaurant where I get a bunch of fake meat dishes to go,and eat them for a week. I use veg chicken nugget, meatballs, and ribs, edamame, I have a gluten/soy/besan meat loaf recipe that is good sliced for sandwiches and by itself. Kashi go lean cereal has good protein, 4everfit protein drinks are good and fruity, greek yogurt and cottage cheese are high protein, Balance bars are good (and veggie) Bobs Red MIll baking mix is very good for making pizza, muffins, pancakes and is high protein and fiber. I cruse netrition.com for low carb high protein snacks. Genisoy has crackers that have some extra protein, good with hummus or cheese. Almond butter, peanut butter, peanut flour....

    The Basics Boot Camp

Oh Diva! Happy late birthday!!! ( I always say, spread that birthday out for a week! More Birthday is better!)
  17. Weight loss is rarely even or predictable from day to day. Don't be frustrated. The body will do what it wants to do. Search "Vertical sleeve Eating plans" or something like that on google... there are several posted. My plan asked me to eat around 800 cals a day for the first 6 months. I perhaps got up to 900 in this time. There will be stalls, and drops. Its all normal. If you really are burning a lot of calories doing exercise, you might want to add some carbs before exercise. Your Dr did not send you home with a plan? At 11 months I am eating around 1400 a day. You have to decide for yourself if you need to follow a low carb plan. I eat less than before surgery, but not really low. Think pounds lost per month, instead of per day or week. You wont flip out as much. DO exercise. It will help you to fill in lose skin, burn fat/form muscle and just feel better. You will do fine! http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:2UUbzJX_tl8J:www.cornellweightlosssurgery.org/pdf/dietary_guidelines_sleeve_gastrectomy.pdf+gastric+sleeve+post+op+diet&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEEShy7C0f-rcYTzA7DdTVPttln3uZfSrZQn4UtTJ8pk6x_CJnDy_Zq0TcoGDkvK9y6PxscuduZphK74Wo3DH1k-colbZG4mU1Oie5UihTNevkWxOa29wL92FDoDl9KZAaqvykfNLR&sig=AHIEtbQ_UE5YT6cuYqo-kMY1uv1fiKtUew

I Have A Leak In My Gastric Sleeve!

I also think that so many people who have had complications and would still do the surgery over again is a testament to how difficult it is to be fat too...
  19. That is so exciting! See you back here in a few days! I am sure you will be very happy. My co-worker told me her neighbor had the sleeve 5 years ago, lost 140 pounds has had no problems and has kept all the weight off. I really think the sleeve is the best thing.
  20. Good luck to you both! If I could have gotten it when I weighed less, I would have.
  21. Don't forget!!! Gluttony is one of the 7 deadly sins! This teaching has really put overweight issues into the character catagory... forget science! You would think a trainer would at least be up to date with the science of his field. You did the right thing. If Drs and insurance approve your surgery, then there MUST be some good reason for it....
  22. Proton Pump Inhibiter- its a type of antacid
  23. You can get OTC Omeprazole... it worked for me for the first 6 months, then I quit because I was worrying about calcium absorption. I have not had any acid except about three days of mild heartburn in the last 5 months. I think if you get on the right PPI you will feel much better.
  24. Many people feel this way. From reading posts here for over a year, I have rarely seen regrets last over 2 months. Usually, there is no regrets at all. Most say they would do it again in a heartbeat, others say their only regret is not doing it earlier.
