Fgf: What Are You Doing Today To Get To Your Goal?
feedyoureye replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Later on it is easier to get lots of water down. At least it was for me. I take about three small gulps... then I have to wait a few seconds/minutes, then three more... and like that. I feel full, then all of a sudden not. Its the stomach opening up its pylorus and letting the contents through. Your stomach also does get bigger as the swelling goes down and you can hold more. -

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
feedyoureye replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Coops, I have been eating around 1200... and slightly lower carbs...around 70.... Yesterday I ate around 1500 and still lost .4...go figure. My weight is going down. I thought I was going to stay on the same plateau forever... but I have hope to reach goal now! I am 3 pounds from "Normal" and 7 from goal (will probably adjust down another 8-10 as a cushion... that will take me another 10 years to lose!) You can do it! Slow and steady wins the race! I have changed how I eat.. more greens (Kale) raw and cooked, more veggies, flax oil, flax/almond butter, blueberries and more organic produce, grass fed eggs... more Omega 3... I don't eat meat or fish so I am working on getting other sources...fresh local walnuts... less sugar....I read in prevention mag something about omega3(spring fats) vs omega6(hibernation fats) in the diet and weight gain... so I figured it wouldnt hurt, and it hasn't! http://www.prevention.com/food/smart-shopping/vanishing-youth-nutrient?page=2 -
Beautiful transformation! Im in the home stretch too, we can do it!

How Long Pain After Eating?
feedyoureye replied to jewelwithin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eat slow, under fill your sleeve... if something does not agree, try again in a week or two. Constant pain from eating needs to be reported to the doc. -
Almost 12 months out... and same here. It is way better than before though...

Continuing "success" - How Do You Do It?
feedyoureye replied to vanishingvixen's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
you look sexy and fantastic all the way through, and you are a woman in transition. I think after you get to your goal or where ever the body wants to stop, you will have time to see what it feels like and looks like to be the new you. Seeing how sassy you look so far, Im sure you will still be sassy and sexy! Remember the hormones are all over the place during weight loss, so that will make you feel strange on top of the other sad things life sometimes throws us. You are doing great! -
I believe in Atkins you do not count the carbs, but do count the calories. Also, some get nasty tummy from sugar alcohol... gas and runs....

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
feedyoureye replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be able to get all your protein in if you use gluten, TVP and you can get pea or hemp or soy protein drinks. Add some flax seed oil or flax seed meal to improve your amino acids. Kale is also high in protein and omega 3s. -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Congratulations! -
I figure it this way, my Doc does not forbid drinking your Protein (shakes, bean soups and such), and I managed to lose a bunch of weight when all I could have was mushy protein, soups and over cooked veggies... So having a bowl of soup chock full of mushy veggies sometimes with a few chunks of TVP or Gluten or a poached egg in it is not a diet breaker for me. I don't eat dense solid food at the same time as soup, and generally don't drink anything with solid meals. I do however want to eat more veggies then I can manage in the room I have in my tummy after eating protein first. I eat 4-5 meals a day, and during these cold months, soup has been one of them.... sometimes without any protein in it at all... just veggies for veggies sake. YUM!

Reporting in girls! The scales dropped .8 pounds below my last low...I haven't been able to change my ticker in 5 weeks. I have been in a 3-4 pound bounce for most of that...There is hope! I was really feeling like I was at the end of my weightloss. I only change the ticker when I get to a new low number. -
Exericise Or No Exercise
feedyoureye replied to yecats's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started working on my physical fitness and balance about a year and a half before my surgery. Like yecats, it was a last ditch effort to lose the weight once and for all... My knees did not like it, or my feet and ankles.... I could just tell I was going to end up in a wheelchair if didn't claim back my health. After staying the same weight, then starting to gain with new meds, I started looking into WLS. I had been taking dance classes twice a week, and lead a 45 minute walk twice a week with adults with developmental disabilities. I still do this and add in other stuff now and then, gardening, walking the dog and hiking now and then. I picked dance class because I wanted to improve my balance and grace...I also love having a nice group of friends I have made during dance class. We go out and attend festivals, performances and dance faires. When I started, I felt like I was clunking around and it was hard... but I made a plan to practice for at least 5 years and have at least one public performance. Taking the long view has helped me to stick with it and look for results that only can be seen over the long run. Find something you can get into, that you enjoy the view, or like the competition, or like the isolation... whatever you like. There are lots of ways to get more active. -
Wow Fox! You have gone through a lot! Did you have a chance to have some adventures in CR before your surgery? Hope all goes well for you, You are really going through a big transformation right now, that is awesome.

The trick is to not beat yourself up, just get back on track. Its part of being human! And there is no learning without failure. -
I eat my protein first, but try to get as many veggeis in as I can. I make veggie soup, which goes down very easily, and I can eat quite a bit. I also eat raw, but that came later, after about 4 months. Some raw I still can't eat... peels and such.

Ghrelin and sleep and heat regulation
feedyoureye replied to Eureka-C's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A total of eight patients (30.8%) were at chronic need for proton pump inhibitor medication due to severe reflux. Plasma ghrelin levels were reduced from 593 +/- 52 to 219 +/- 23 pg/ml 12 months postoperatively, with a slightly, non-significant increase toward the 5-years values of mean 257 +/- 23 pg/ml. CONCLUSIONS: At 5-year follow-up, a mean EWL of 55.0 +/- 6.8% was achieved, indicating that SG leads to stable weight loss. Beside significant weight regain, severe reflux might necessitate conversion to gastric bypass or duodenal switch. After an immediate reduction postoperatively, plasma ghrelin levels remained low for the first 5 years postoperatively. -
