You Can Gain Weight With The Sleeve
feedyoureye replied to MINI-Me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I want an update too! Hang in there mini, I managed to get below my pre holiday low, its slow but so much easier than previous non surgery years! -
Officially, a stall is no weight loss for over 2 weeks. Here is a graph of my weight loss over the past 6 months... I have lost 16 pounds in total (the last 6 months), and as you can see, my weight goes up and down all the time. I post my ticker weight every time I get to a new low. I see around 4 stalls here, two of which look to be 4-6 weeks long and the other two around 2 weeks. I have MANY more 'stalls' of one week. Its normal for your weight to bounce around...as far as I can tell. You will notice that the overall trend is down. I hope to keep this up until I reach goal, which is around 7 pounds from now.... that means at this rate, it will take me 3 or more months to get there. I am currently at one year out and have lost 86 pounds (according to my ticker). You can see I have a higher bounce on my graph, but that is normal, and will come off... maybe tomorrow, maybe next week!

Anyone Wish They Had Not Done Their Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
feedyoureye replied to Karelia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good question! -
Some brands just make their clothing have smaller numbers for sizes. I wear a 12-14 in most modest priced clothing but could wear a 6 or 8 in vanity sizing.

The Basics Boot Camp
feedyoureye replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My hard drive crashed and I needed to replace all my apps... but I will start the veg thread later this week. Braggs aminos or sometimes health food stores have their own brand.. I just add 1/2 t of Brags and 1/2 t of flax oil- sometimes a few drops of sesame oil ... braggs is sort of like soy sauce... salty. Really. I use it because vegetarians don't always get enough of the right aminos. You could use vinegar if you prefer. -

Let me know how it works for you... I hope i'm not just a fluke! I think this plan would probably be easier for people who are later in the process... I am eating lots of raw chopped kale salads, with lots of good things in them... but not for the faint of stomach.... avocado, blueberries, walnuts, stilton cheese(if you can find cheese from grass fed cows or sheep, it is higher in Omega 3s than corn or soy fed animals) , flax oil and liquid amino dressing (just a little splash is enough) I find I am really craving this stuff right now... and feeling great! I just got my labs done about a week into this diet change, so I will be interested in seeing if it changes my hdl/ldl ratios. There are omega3 rich eggs out there, so i have one of those now and then, almond/flax seed butter at trader joes that is great with my chocolate chips, or on a piece of toast....ground flax on Cereal or in a Protein drink.... -

Hi Beach! Looks like you are doing fantastic! I use flax mostly towards the end product... ad to salad, or a 1/2 teaspoon in my soup or even yogurt to finish. I cook with canola. This is the story I found in Prevention and MSNBC about omega3 and 6 studies: http://www.msnbc.msn...s/#.TxxAP5hcqFU There are also medical studies on this too... This is the guy that has done some studies: Dariush Mozaffarian, M.D., of the Harvard School of Public Health I have been finding it much easier to lose weight sense following the advice on "spring fats and fall fats" -

When I use oil I am using canola, flax or olive. As stated in other posts, I am shooting for more omega 3s in my diet, and canola and flax have the most... olive, which I love the taste of, is neutral. I may do another post on this... I have started losing weight again at the speed I did about 5 months ago, getting more omega 3 rich foods (often found in green veggies and walnuts) and oils. Its just been the last week and a half, so it may be something else, but thats when I started eating more omega 3 foods, and less omega 6 foods.... -
Advice Needed On Moving Past 6 Month Stall
feedyoureye replied to ava2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly? I don't think you need to. Just keep on it, and the weight will go. I was on a gain (just that much worse than a stall-4pounds) during the holidays, got back on track and lost after 6 weeks of stall and gain. Your body will come through when it feels like it... sometimes that might be months. If you are doing everything else right, then measure, try on smaller sizes now and then, and shake things ups once in a while. Weight Watchers is not really made for the VSG. You got your support system right here for free... write it all down if you don't already and sit tight. -

Am I Being Ridiculous?
feedyoureye replied to wondering1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's easy to talk about someone who can't talk for themselve. I appreciate us all wanting to discuss "giving up" or "self esteem" or how we will act in three years or how ONLY losing 75 pounds is half a$$ (my words). The truth is it is scary to see someone with the same tool as us not lose as much as we or perhaps she would want to in three years. The statistics also say that many people experience a bounce at three years. I have also lost weight and swore I would never gain it back, yet have, and also have personally never gotten to goal on a diet... but have been dieting sense the age of 8. We don't know her story. I still think getting to goal is a mystery... almost as mysterious as those that never get fat. I am very close to goal, and really, I still don't understand it. Bless her heart, there but for the grace of God go I! I prefer to stay humble. I don't really know what the next three years will bring... -

Being Told By Everyone How Much Better Gastric Bypass Is ...
feedyoureye replied to Catracks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know, here people are mostly WAY for the Sleeve, at an RNY site they might be WAY for RNY. People want to support what they have paid for. And others that don't know much about any surgery will talk about the gossip they have heard. Look at the statistics, listen to your guts, look at what people say third, and make a judgement from that in the end. -
