  1. I take omeprazole (prilosec) prescribed when I came home- once a day in the morning when I wake up. I haven't had an acid problem and I have zero hunger. Edited to add- I also know if I do not wait 2-3 hours between my 1/4 cups I will not be able to eat it all. SO I time my meals. Without hunger I simply would not eat but I know that is not good!
  2. My surgeons rule is 600-800 calories in the losing phase. And with the restriction- that happens naturally. I log everything at fatsecret.com . I am just on purees/soft foods and can fit about 2 ounces max- and I am allowed and expected to have 2 protein drinks a day- I use one sweet one and one helping of Unjury chicken soup. Until I am eating more I wont be able to get all 80 grams from food.
  3. p.s. DO you get all your protein? That is also key. Are you exercising?
  4. The only thing that stands out to me is the carbs- things like macaroni and crackers are foods that will go right down if you chew them well and are not providing much nutritionally. I do have a question though- if you are supposed to have a certain amount- why do you eat more? Though 1 1/2 T seems a bit low- that is nevertheless what you have been told to do. Because I consider my surgeon my partner in my weight loss I will follow what he tells me to do, whether I think it is fair or not . I trust him and I know he has my best interests at heart. If you feel you can't follow your instructions I think maybe a consult with the nutritionist or your surgeon about the fact you can eat more is warranted and perhaps some advice about choices.
  5. Milk is a good thinner too. If the yogurt and other thick things hurt then don't do them yet! Listen to your body. It wont hurt to let the swelling go down some more before you try the thicker things- and meanwhile milk will both thin yogurt, pudding, and even cream Soups and add Protein.
  6. Don't worry! liquids and and full liquids (yogurt, pudding, etc.) are easy to get down. You will absolutely feel your restriction when you start pureed , real, food. The things you are consuming go right through. Consider yourself lucky you are able to get your Protein and your liquids! That is a huge step on this journey and bodes well for when you do add purees.
  7. Considering how absolutely miserable you have been with fluids- give yourself time! Clearly your swelling is still happening- adding purees would bring you a world of hurt. I was on clears a week, and thin liquids two weeks after that- and I moved to purees because I was having NO issues getting ALL My Protein and all my liquids. Focus on that, and it never works to compare yourself. Your doctor's policy is their policy and you are best off following it. If you have a problem and have NOT followed it then you will have trouble identifying the issue. Not to mention having to tell your doctor you did not do what they said to do! I resented my weeks on thin liquids, but by following my doctors plan I have not had any problems with each new food stage and I know I am treating my sleeve right. Don't forget you were stressing about how hard it was just yesterday. Don't push the river! Be patient. There is yogurt, there are all kinds of Soups, - and it is what it is! This is a short time in a long life and it will be worth it. That said- do you see your doctor for a post -op? That would be the time to ask if perhaps you can move forward.Until then work on getting all your Fluid and all your protein- if you can do that it will show you are ready for purees.
  8. This article about the chemistry of stalls might help- it does a great job of explaining what is happening and reassuring you that you are still losing. http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html
  9. I think it is good to know that is IS a tough recovery- but all the answers said it gets better every day- and it does! I think we kind of forget this is major surgery- and also a completely new stomach- it takes a while, and learning new behaviors. I am five weeks out- still learning- and I can say I LOVE my sleeve. I am almost at 40 pounds and that blows my mind! I feel good- I do two hours of exercise a day, and though eating is still a total learning process I know this is a short time in a long life.
  10. I am so pleased to be wrong about this! Although I wonder why Chike Nutrition says the opposite... I wish you had asked about the theory of there only being a certain amount of protein you can absorb at one go... though if you spread it out over a long period of time it would be a moot point. Thanks!
  11. I was automatically given them and at first questioned it but reading about it made me decide to take them. I am not keen on another surgery either and want to keep my gall bladder. I take one in the morning, one in the evening, and will continue during my extreme loss phase.
  12. Are you on full foods already?
  13. Are you sure about the weight of the fish? It might not have been as heavy as you think. I weigh and measure everything carefully. For one thing, I would waste so much food if I didn;t- I know the size of my bougie and it is 32- and I can no way fit more than 2 ounces of anything in, no matter what I wish... I am at 5 weeks.
  14. I have really been trying to mix it up since you told me about that concept! I just find it hard- so tomorrow I will ask my nutritionist for some ideas. WTF is wrong with people? I thought your thread title was funny!
  15. I missed you GIRL!!!!!! I am now at five weeks tomorrow- time has whizzed by. Read this article about stalls- the chemistry of them- it really helped me get why they happened and why you are still losing when they happen. http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html I had an 8 day stall at two weeks, and another last week, now I am slowly losing- my issues is that I eat about 600 calories a day and still can't eat more than 1/4 cup, if that- so getting more calories aint so easy! I know that will improve. Anyway I am off for a walk but literally stopped stock still when I saw you had posted and wanted to say welcome home- glad you are loving AND living with your sleeve so happily- and woo hoo on the 45 pounds! I am at about 37 today including my 2 weeks pre-op. By the way- you had mentioned wondering about pre-ops vs no pre-ops and the subsequent weight loss so look for my thread about that- I think a pre-op , especially a strict one, definitely affects post op loss. HUGS AND KISSES!!
  16. I have been told about Protein breaking down at GNC and also by the people at Chike. They say after 3-4 hours it is no longer intact. I have no reason to doubt them but am open to hearing data that says otherwise. I was able to get 80 grams a day from day five on. Once it was easier to drink I included three Protein drinks in my liquids- and the liquid counts in your liquids anyway.
  17. 1. I did not have a tube so can't answer this one! 2. That 2 ounces is something to aim for- that does not mean you cannot have more! Most people have a LOT of trouble getting liquids in but some lucky people can drink more. You can have the popsicle and drink too. Popsicles went down so easily for me! I loved it! I wish they had fewer crbs though but that does NOT matter in the first month or so for sure. 3. Unfortunately protein breaks down after a few hours and is not good any more. IN addition , most sources say that 30 grams is about the most you can assimilate at once. So the 60 grams made in the morning and drunk slowly wont really work but it does work to make a smaller drink and drink those small cups for a couple of hours and then make another one. I found it works to set my phone alarm for every 10-15 minutes and drink then- it really helps keep you on target! Good luck- you'll do fine.
  18. I had diarrhea the first couple of weeks after my surgery and my doctor suggested I dilute my protein drinks more as they are tough to assimilate at first. The problem ended in week three.
  19. You are only a little over three weeks- that is pretty soon to challenge your sleeve with much solid food. I started purees on day 21 and I am still unable to eat more than 1/4 cup of anything. Stay with purees or really really soft moist food and supplement with Protein drinks, etc. You have to eat very slowly and chew really really well- that place in your chest is the top of your sleeve rebelling. This is just a short period in a long life! Also really work on your Water and protein so that your body doesn't burn muscle instead of fat. Finally- there is such a thing as too few carbs- I was exhausted and my nutritionist noticed I had been having about 4 or 5 a day. As soon as I added milk to my Soups and Protein Drinks the carbs from that boosted my energy amazingly. Good luck to you June Jewels! Though I am a May Red Velvet girl I also consider myself a Jewel of June as my birthday is this month.
  20. I forgot to mention sugar free popsicles- somehow I could get those down really easily even though Water would NOT go down. The Edys/Dreyers brands are fabulous! Water was the worst for me and still is hardest though I do drink 32 ounces a day now. it really does get better! On my vlog about three days post surgery I look ghastly and feel that way ~ and then was so much better a few days later- and it has gotten slowly better every day since. My sleeve is small and I cannot get even a tiny bit more than 1/4 cup in - but I can eat pureed food now with no issues. Have faith!
  21. This WILL get better! I was kept for an extra day because I could not drink. Set an alarm for every 10 or 15 minutes and drink as much as you can in small sips. The alarm really helps because time passes quickly and you wont always remember to do something that is so hard. Everything turned around for me on day 5- maybe you have some comfort in the offing! Your swelling will go down and drinking will be easier. I wont tell you that your difficulties are over but relax and know in a few months this will be a memory and you will be loving your sleeve!
  22. unjury is only available online- they ship ground but they were happy to send me some packets 2nd day- it can't be done online but by phone they are very helpful. It made a huge difference to me too after all those sweet drinks. One thing I recommend is to add 12 ounces of Water to it instead of 8 as it is a bit salty. They also have an unflavored Protein powder to mix in to other things that I found really helpful as you can add it to cream soup and get good protein. Also- I had diarrhea for just over two and a half weeks and then it went away. Maybe you are about to have that happen too!
  23. I wanna see, I wanna see!
  24. Welcome! You will love your sleeve- eventually! I was in the hospital two days- the extra day because I couldn't drink enough Fluid to suit them (300ml) but my throat was very sore and swollen. I did find it very hard to drink at first but once home I would set my phone alarm and use the little one ounce cups fro the hospital to keep drinking slowly through the day. I would mark off the little cups on a piece of paper until the day I felt safe starting with a 32 ounce bottle of Water and planning on finishing it. On day five things turned around and it was much easier to drink. YOu will find lots of great info here to help prepare you for surgery!
  25. Hey! Somehow I missed that you won! I voted for you every day. Weren't you Texasmom? I am confused. Did you post that you won? Hooray! That is wonderful! I did not go to Mexico but I think you are so right to have your surgeries 3 weeks apart. (At least I think so- though you ask if anyone is going to Tijuana August 18th...) You will be able to care for one another.
