    Protein?

The scoop is a big doubleish one- but you use one, so it is 17 servings. The chicken soup is a mainstay of my day every day right now. I start the day with a sweet one I like mixed with decaf and I am not keen on having two sweet ones a day. I also have the unflavored though I have not used it a lot yet.

    Visceral Fat

My stomach is still a little swollen and I had my surgery before you- so that might be part of it. I am also aware I will need to start working those abs....as soon as I can. We do 300 crunches in our Water aerobics classes so if you have physical issues consider the water!

    Am I dreaming!??

Maybe some motivation to deal with those Soups , eh? ;-P Any talk of you being able to move to purees sooner than you thought?

    AARP Magazine

I stand corrected- I have always heard she had a bypass- I think I also did not realize they had been doing bands for that long! I wonder why she had it removed?

    2nd Day Post Op

Everything will get better. You have not had enough intake to poop and eventually you will! Once you add Protein shakes etc. it will get better. Popsicles went down easily for me and were a godsend- enjoy! That can only help you with your fluids, which are often hard to take in at the beginning.

    AARP Magazine

I think you men bypass and band- no sleeve mentioned. I was annoyed about that. In addition, they said she had the band and she had the bypass! There were lots of other inaccuracies about food regimens afterwards, etc. I was happy to see the cover feature and then very disappointed in the article.

    False hunger from acid

I take omeprazole (prilosec) prescribed when I came home- once a day in the morning when I wake up. I haven't had an acid problem and I have zero hunger. Edited to add- I also know if I do not wait 2-3 hours between my 1/4 cups I will not be able to eat it all. SO I time my meals. Without hunger I simply would not eat but I know that is not good!

    How many calories?

My surgeons rule is 600-800 calories in the losing phase. And with the restriction- that happens naturally. I log everything at fatsecret.com . I am just on purees/soft foods and can fit about 2 ounces max- and I am allowed and expected to have 2 protein drinks a day- I use one sweet one and one helping of Unjury chicken soup. Until I am eating more I wont be able to get all 80 grams from food.
  10. p.s. DO you get all your protein? That is also key. Are you exercising?
  11. The only thing that stands out to me is the carbs- things like macaroni and crackers are foods that will go right down if you chew them well and are not providing much nutritionally. I do have a question though- if you are supposed to have a certain amount- why do you eat more? Though 1 1/2 T seems a bit low- that is nevertheless what you have been told to do. Because I consider my surgeon my partner in my weight loss I will follow what he tells me to do, whether I think it is fair or not . I trust him and I know he has my best interests at heart. If you feel you can't follow your instructions I think maybe a consult with the nutritionist or your surgeon about the fact you can eat more is warranted and perhaps some advice about choices.

    Day 15 post op

Milk is a good thinner too. If the yogurt and other thick things hurt then don't do them yet! Listen to your body. It wont hurt to let the swelling go down some more before you try the thicker things- and meanwhile milk will both thin yogurt, pudding, and even cream Soups and add Protein.
  13. Don't worry! liquids and and full liquids (yogurt, pudding, etc.) are easy to get down. You will absolutely feel your restriction when you start pureed , real, food. The things you are consuming go right through. Consider yourself lucky you are able to get your Protein and your liquids! That is a huge step on this journey and bodes well for when you do add purees.
  14. Considering how absolutely miserable you have been with fluids- give yourself time! Clearly your swelling is still happening- adding purees would bring you a world of hurt. I was on clears a week, and thin liquids two weeks after that- and I moved to purees because I was having NO issues getting ALL My Protein and all my liquids. Focus on that, and it never works to compare yourself. Your doctor's policy is their policy and you are best off following it. If you have a problem and have NOT followed it then you will have trouble identifying the issue. Not to mention having to tell your doctor you did not do what they said to do! I resented my weeks on thin liquids, but by following my doctors plan I have not had any problems with each new food stage and I know I am treating my sleeve right. Don't forget you were stressing about how hard it was just yesterday. Don't push the river! Be patient. There is yogurt, there are all kinds of Soups, - and it is what it is! This is a short time in a long life and it will be worth it. That said- do you see your doctor for a post -op? That would be the time to ask if perhaps you can move forward.Until then work on getting all your Fluid and all your protein- if you can do that it will show you are ready for purees.
  15. This article about the chemistry of stalls might help- it does a great job of explaining what is happening and reassuring you that you are still losing. http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html
  16. I think it is good to know that is IS a tough recovery- but all the answers said it gets better every day- and it does! I think we kind of forget this is major surgery- and also a completely new stomach- it takes a while, and learning new behaviors. I am five weeks out- still learning- and I can say I LOVE my sleeve. I am almost at 40 pounds and that blows my mind! I feel good- I do two hours of exercise a day, and though eating is still a total learning process I know this is a short time in a long life.
  17. I am so pleased to be wrong about this! Although I wonder why Chike Nutrition says the opposite... I wish you had asked about the theory of there only being a certain amount of protein you can absorb at one go... though if you spread it out over a long period of time it would be a moot point. Thanks!
  18. I was automatically given them and at first questioned it but reading about it made me decide to take them. I am not keen on another surgery either and want to keep my gall bladder. I take one in the morning, one in the evening, and will continue during my extreme loss phase.

How Easy Is It to Stretch The Sleeve?

Are you sure about the weight of the fish? It might not have been as heavy as you think. I weigh and measure everything carefully. For one thing, I would waste so much food if I didn;t- I know the size of my bougie and it is 32- and I can no way fit more than 2 ounces of anything in, no matter what I wish... I am at 5 weeks.
  21. I have really been trying to mix it up since you told me about that concept! I just find it hard- so tomorrow I will ask my nutritionist for some ideas. WTF is wrong with people? I thought your thread title was funny!
  22. I missed you GIRL!!!!!! I am now at five weeks tomorrow- time has whizzed by. Read this article about stalls- the chemistry of them- it really helped me get why they happened and why you are still losing when they happen. http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html I had an 8 day stall at two weeks, and another last week, now I am slowly losing- my issues is that I eat about 600 calories a day and still can't eat more than 1/4 cup, if that- so getting more calories aint so easy! I know that will improve. Anyway I am off for a walk but literally stopped stock still when I saw you had posted and wanted to say welcome home- glad you are loving AND living with your sleeve so happily- and woo hoo on the 45 pounds! I am at about 37 today including my 2 weeks pre-op. By the way- you had mentioned wondering about pre-ops vs no pre-ops and the subsequent weight loss so look for my thread about that- I think a pre-op , especially a strict one, definitely affects post op loss. HUGS AND KISSES!!
  23. I have been told about Protein breaking down at GNC and also by the people at Chike. They say after 3-4 hours it is no longer intact. I have no reason to doubt them but am open to hearing data that says otherwise. I was able to get 80 grams a day from day five on. Once it was easier to drink I included three Protein drinks in my liquids- and the liquid counts in your liquids anyway.
  24. 1. I did not have a tube so can't answer this one! 2. That 2 ounces is something to aim for- that does not mean you cannot have more! Most people have a LOT of trouble getting liquids in but some lucky people can drink more. You can have the popsicle and drink too. Popsicles went down so easily for me! I loved it! I wish they had fewer crbs though but that does NOT matter in the first month or so for sure. 3. Unfortunately protein breaks down after a few hours and is not good any more. IN addition , most sources say that 30 grams is about the most you can assimilate at once. So the 60 grams made in the morning and drunk slowly wont really work but it does work to make a smaller drink and drink those small cups for a couple of hours and then make another one. I found it works to set my phone alarm for every 10-15 minutes and drink then- it really helps keep you on target! Good luck- you'll do fine.

Questions 6 days out from sleeve

I had diarrhea the first couple of weeks after my surgery and my doctor suggested I dilute my protein drinks more as they are tough to assimilate at first. The problem ended in week three.
