  1. The first time I got the "foamies" and I am not sure if this is the same thing that you are having was when I tried to eat something that my sleeve said "no way in hell". I had to spit up several times and eventually vomited but that is only time I have thrown up since surgery. I get that bubbling up, not as bad as that first time, every now and again. It was almost like a foamy salivation but I do believe it was coming from my stomach. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
  2. I wore mine and they hooked my O2 up to it as well. I have had mine for many years as well so I can't sleep well without it.

    First time

Welcome to the forum. Good luck on your surgery. My surgery was on May 3rd and I have some of the same things on my wish list too. I would have never lost as much as I have so far if not for the surgery, still have quite a long way to go and looking forward to it.

  5. I just made a phone call to my medical supply company to see if one of their respiratory people can call me back. I hope they can do something to help. Since I have lost a good amount of weight my mask is now causing me to swallow air and/or pass air out of my mouth in the night causing me to sound like I am making raspberries. While writing this they called me back and said they cannot do anything without a doctor's order. He said it sounds like my pressure setting is now too high. I no longer see the doctors that prescribed the CPAP to me 4 years ago so gonna contact my primary and see what if anything they can do. Anyone else run into this issue? I'd hate to have another sleep study now knowing I am just going to continue to lose weight. I have quite a long way to go yet. If i stop wearing it for any length of time I start feeling like total crap. I can't wear it waking up every morning with a full stomach of air, it is uncomfortable.

    CPAP Issues

Thanks to everyone for your responses. I found the instructions to change my pressure online and I will experiment with it rather than wait for anything else to happen. My pressure was 11, I am going to see what happens with 9 and go from there. Thanks again.

    Birth Control and Weight Loss

I am currently on Depo and have decided not to get my next shot in July. I should know better than to be on it but I loved the effect of not having my period. The first time I wason Depo several years ago I gained 80lbs. I think it could potentially mess with my weight loss now and I don't want anything getting in the way. Now since I have started losing weight I get very light periods for weeks on end. I have had light spotting for over 2 weeks now. I would rather deal with the 1 week a month than this constant aggravation of it never going away.
  8. My surgery was also a day after yours. I have been having a Protein shake it the morning when I first get up, then trying to eat a little Breakfast, eggs don't really work for me anymore so I could eat a whole packet of cream of wheat or a whole yogurt cup. Then i will eat a string cheese mid morning, at lunch I am having the starkist lunch to go which is tuna salad and a couple crackers. Then this afternoon another cheese stick or fruit ( I brought watermelon today) and then for dinner tonight I will probably have baked chicken at least 4oz, a couple bites of a veg and probably a bite of rice. I don't think you are eating too much except for the possibility of too many carbs (I seem to have that problem as well) I can eat crackers and I have had my fav veggie chips but bulky bread I don't do well with at all. I had a 6 inch subway meatball marinara about a week ago and ate all of the meatballs and only like 3 bites of the bread it was on.
  9. I am 6 weeks out today and haven't tried pizza yet although I would love a slice. I am holding out a little longer. I already know I can't have a significant amount of bread or I get messed up so it will have to be a really thin crust if I am to eat any crust at all.

    How supportive is/was your spouse

I haven't read all of the posts in the thread but my opinion is right in line with sasicas. I could care less peronsally what my hubby is eating except when it comes to saving money. I have two teenagers and while we don't actively stock a ton of junk in the house there are things I shouldn't/wouldn't eat. I was never a big fast food person anyway my problem was portion sizes and now that isn't a problem anymore. We share the cooking in my house and my husband has always eaten anything I have made for the family even if it wasn't his favorite dish. If he makes something for himself and the kids one night that doesn't sit right in my tummy or is something I shouldn't eat, I just make myself something else and it is no big deal. My husband has been there for me 100% through this journey.
  12. Tired as heck this morning, want to go home and crawl back into bed

  13. My husband only took off the first two days I was home. I only really needed him to help me with getting out of the recliner, I couldn't push the foot thing back down by myself and I definitely needed help standing up, my incision pain was the worst for the first couple days but i was lucky, no gas pains at all and I took no pain meds once at home. I was completely incapable of getting in out and of bed by myself and had to sleep in the recliner for two days and then once I did make it in the bed, I had to sleep on my back for about 2 weeks, then I was able to move to my side and eventually stomach again. Everyone's experience varies. I fixed all my own meals and walked around on my own but got tired very quickly.

    Vitamins and juice

I was told only to drink fruit juice during the first two weeks post op, after that is has to much sugar in it. I love Sobe Lifewater and would drink that all the time if I could always have it i on hand.

    Hypothyroidism

i have it as well and I guess it is still too soon for me to tell. I have lost 26 lbs since surgery 4 weeks ago but long term I don't know if it ends up getting really slow for us or not.
  17. Friday was my 1 month surgiversary and my husband has been dieing to go out to dinner for awhile now since I haven't been able to go since like 2 months before I had the surgery. He wanted Olive garden. My normal meal here used to consist of the sampler for an app, the salad, the bread sticks and usually either the tour of italy (lasagna, alfredo and chick parm combo) or the chicken parmigiana dinner. I used to pray that I would get a table with one of the chairs with no arms cause otherwise I would be squished in the chair the whole time. It's funny because my husband knows how I am about the chair thing too so we were both looking to see what chairs were at the table. The table we walk up to has all chairs with arms on them. I sat down and was still a bit big for the chair but I was actually comfortable sitting in it. My husband and I laughed. We didn't order any appetizers, I didn't eat any breadsticks. I did have about 5 bites of salad and some croutons. I ordered the chicken marsala instead of the chicken parm since there is no breading and I asked for a to go box as soon as the waiter brought the entree. There were three pieces of chicken on my plate and I ended up eating 3/4 of one piece, put the rest away, had like 3 pieces of roasted potato and a few pieces of mushroom and packed the rest up. The waiter of course asked me if I didn't like my meal and I laughed to myself. Everything went down well and nothing made me feel sick which is a bonus because food has been hit or miss lately. I felt great afterwards and was happy to be able to go out to dinner again.

    Discouraged and disappointed

I have lost 53 and I can kinda see it in my face but other than that some of my tops aren't as a tight as they used to be. I can't really tell. I didn't measure from the start either but it isn't too late to do it now. Some of us are just starting our journey and still have quite a ways to go. I think I may just go home from work today and take my measurements.

    Have a Date (again)

In the 1 month since surgery I have lost 26lbs. I lost the rest on the pre-op diet. For a grand total of 53 lbs today. 50 lbs in one month would be quite the loss. Also remember I have a lot more to lose than most people so I may lose more in the beginning more quickly.
  20. So my highest weight ever was 390 but my weight when I started my pre-op which ended up being 5 weeks long was 385. I lost 22 lbs on the pre-op so I was 363 the day of surgery. I am 1 month out and am now 337 so I lost 26 lbs since surgery. My third week I was waffling back and forth over the same 2 lbs so nothing lost in that week.

    What is Stopping you?

I was on the fence before I had the VSG on May 3rd. I was 363 the day of surgery. You will do just fine, I had the same worries as you about not pulling through and here I am feeling great. You will do great as well. Keep thinking positive thoughts
  22. My pre-op diet sounds like yours just with not so much detail. I was able to drink 3 to 4 protein drinks per day, one control bar for hunger and a piece of baked/grilled chicken if I needed it at dinner. I think you just need to break it down like that and simplify it. I could drink as much as I wanted from the list of liquids you listed above. I don't think that continuing on your Atkins regimen would be the same, there is significantly less fat in the pre-op liquid diet.

    Nasal Tube

Don't know if I had one while I was under but there was no tube when I woke up.

    Drain tube

I did not need a drain. My surgeon doesn't like to use them unless absolutely necessary.

    Injecting Blood Thinner Post Op

I had to inject myself once a day for 14 days after I left the hospital. I remember being really freaked out about the whole thing when I first heard I was going to have to do it but it was really no big deal. The needles were tiny.
