  1. I think the bigger the size you are the longer you can wear certain sizes. I literally have a closet full of 4x tops, with a couple 3x, and some of them are huge on me and I am ready to toss out and others a fitting nicely now. Still can't wear a 3x t shirt I have. I have lost 64 lbs and wearing bascially the same sized clothes still. I did throw out all my old bras and am wearing ones now that used to be tight on me. I am guessing I will have to go down quite a bit more before I can actually drop sizes. It is so hard to gauge. The two pair of jeans I have are too baggy on me now and I am very hesitant to buy any more becuase they can be costly.

    Need new Breakfast Ideas

Thank you for all the suggestions. I typically don't eat breakfast until I get into the office either so i do have time in the morning to try some different stuff. The coffee idea from Tiffykins might work and I'll see if that helps. This morning I decided to have a protein shake first thing instead of trying to feed myself something heavy.

    Still can't wear fat pants!

I am not much of a dress person myself but perhaps you can wear a dress that doesn't bind at the waist.
  4. I had the exact same thing happening once I had lost a little weight. I was swallowing air and it was so uncomfortable in the morning. My pressure was originally set at 11 and I was going to call the medical supply company to have someone come out and adjust it but the great folks on this forum suggested I look up my model CPAP and you can find out how to adjust your pressure. My pressure is now set to 8 and I do not swallow anymore air and seem to be sleeping better than before for sure. I am not sure why your doctor said that is ok for you to swallow air, the machine shouldn't make you uncomfortable.
  5. I had that exact same dent and was worried he stitched me up wrong. It is completely gone now. That is where I had most pain when coughing or sneezing and laughing too. That incision was the limiting factor for how soon I was able to side and stomach sleep as well.
  6. I had the same instructions as Bryn. As long as I wan't taking any narcotics.

    Need new Breakfast Ideas

I eat pork, chicken, steak, ground beef, scallops, shrimp, clams, etc....I am not really hung up on the whole "breakfast" food category either but my stomach seems to be sensitive in the morning and was concerned about eating the meat for breakfast. Mornings are hard during the week because I don't have time to prepare anything right then so it would have to be leftovers which I usually take to work for my lunch. I have a whole roaster chicken in my fridge, maybe I will try to have some of that tomorrow morning and see what happens.

    Hypothyroidism

I am 39 yrs old and also have hypothyroidism. I am still fairly new with the sleeve only 9 weeks in. I have lost a total of 64 lbs which is a lot but not in comparision with how much I have to lose. My primary doc is monitoring me to reduce my synthroid levels as I lose weight. As soon as she found out I was having the surgery she lowered me from 150 mcg to 132 mcg a day. I just had my blood drawn two days ago and I suppose I will find out this week if my meds will stay the same or change. I don't feel that having the hypothyroidisn has hindered my weight loss so far, but I would guess like most people once I get to a point where I don't have a lot left to go it will get more difficult.
  9. I had a 6 month requirement of nutrition visits as well. I didn't try to lose anything there either. Once I started my pre-op diet which ended up being like 6 weks long (longer than most people) I lost 22lbs.
  10. I am a pretty big person and I had really bad muscular pain at my incision sites any twisting or straining was bad. The first couple days at home I slept in a recliner. I then moved to the bed but could only sleep on my back. After about a week or so I was finally able to sleep on my side and it was a good two weeks before I could sleep on my stomach which I prefer.
  11. I had surgery on May 3rd so it has been over 9 weeks now. Up to about a week or two ago, I was not necessarily feeling buyers remorse but just angry about the fact that I ended up having to come to this. I had a very non eventful surgery. No gas pain whatsoever, incision pain only, only took pain meds that first day. I have learned I definitely need to take a PPI because the acid sucks. I am starting to learn my limitations and try to stay away from them. I cannot eat regular bread, buns, bagels, and Pasta. I can eat rice, couscous, and those friehoffer sandwich thins on occasion. I eat pretty darn normally. Going to restaurants which was something my husband and I used to love to do every week can be challenging, I have gone out to eat twice since surgery and I did fine and I enjoyed it and had lots of leftovers. I have been lucky that I have had no real complications and have only vomited twice since surgery. I have lost 64 lbs that I otherwise would definitely not have lost on my own. My feet don't hurt like they used to, I don't get winded walking from my car to my office, i can go up flights of stairs relatively easy and I was able to turn the pressure down on my CPAP machine about 4 points, can't wait to never have to use it again and I have only lost about 20% of my excess weight. I can only imagine what it will be to lose 50% or more of that. How can I regret it? There is no way possible. I may get angry about not being able to eat certain things but that is my fat self being spoiled rotten like I have been for the last 18 years when I started putting on the weight. Eating what I want whenever I wanted is what got me in trouble in the first place. There are so many folks on here, even those who have had serious complications and made it through, who will tell you they do not regret it one bit.

    Red Velveter's

Everyone is doing wonderfully. Congrats on all the weight loss. I am currently at 62 lbs down total with 40 of that since surgery. My relationship with eating is getting better each day I was having some trouble for a little while. One day chicken was good and the next chicken was a no no, made it hard to plan things. All seems to be going well now. Wishes for continued success for us all. I just noticed Michelle that you and I plan to lose the same amount of weight. you are doing so well. Good for you.

Any horse people on this site?

I don't know if you would call me a nut but I do love horses. Because of my weight I haven't ridden in years. I used to ride when I was a kid at a local stable, I was in a show once. The last time I rode was probably 12 years ago or so before I got too big to do so. It is one of my goals to be able to ride again. Growing up I always wanted to own a horse but I don't have the land or the funds to do anything like that.

    Over 400lbs

My highest weight was 390 and I am only 5'1". So far so good with the sleeve. My surgery was 9 weeks ago and in total I have lost 62 lbs. Still have 198 to go basically. With just the small amount i have lost so far, in comparison to what I need to lose, I feel so much better. I can get around much more easily and and am not winded just walking around anymore. I am even finally starting to see a difference in the way my clothes fit. I am not ready to go down a size yet but I can tell my tops are fitting more loosely and I am down about a bra size, my old ones are way too loose. Keep reading here on the forums there is a wealth of information. You can definitely do it without the bypass.
  19. I clearly recall seeing at least 2 posts in the last several months where someone mentioned that they had or were thinking about having their RNY reversed and converting to a sleeve. Can anyone help me out or remember who made those posts? Or even the name of a Doctor that does that kind of thing? I am asking for my Aunt who had a RNY back in 2000 and would like to find out more information about a possible conversion. She would be willing to travel anywhere if they can help her. She had a hack doctor in PA, dunno his name, but for the last 11 years she is in pain every time she eats. She has been told that her pouch was done incorrectly and she has almost like a sink trap curve so things have to go uphill before they go down and food gets stuck/caught. I don't know all of the specifics of it. She has been taking narcotics for the last 8 years to ease the pain from eating so she can have a regular meal, otherwise she has to puree everything. Today was the first time I have talked to her since my Sleeve. Even though I see her always on holidays picking at her plate and taking liquid meds during the meal. I just didn't know the full extent of her issues until we talked today. She has been seen by Bariatric doctors here in CT in the past and they have all said there was nothing they could do, I don't believe she has talked to anyone recently. If there is even a slim chance that a Dr. can help her she would like to at least talk to them. Thanks for any info.

I took two weeks off and when I went back on the 3rd week I was really tired and weak, I took the Wednesday off during the third week but have been fine since.

4th of July - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Chicadee..........370..................329...........320............9 Don't think I am going to lose 9 lbs in the next week but I think i've done pretty good on this one.
  22. So i decided to bring some of the chicken I made in the crockpot to work with me today. I was going to eat it for Breakfast since I typically don't get a lot of Protein in that meal unless I drink a shake (can't eat eggs). So I am at work and I ate about 1oz of the chicken and I suddenly have this overwhelming feeling that I am going to be sick. Well I barely made it to the bathroom before I vomited all I had just eaten. I have never had a problem with chicken before and I just ate this same chicken 2 nights ago for dinner. Of course after it happened I feel just fine now. I have only thrown up once before this since surgery, it just seemed really weird. Any ideas? I was taking Prevacid for my acid reducer and ran out and I had a coupon for Prilosec so this morning is the first time I took that, not sure if that had anything to do with it.
  23. I didn't feel great for the rest of the day. I ate a very small, low protein lunch because it was bland, then I started feeling a bit weak. I had a pure protein bar at like 3pm and dinner went down just fine, some beef and brown gravy. I agree with you, i start to think I know what I can eat and then the next time I have it it doesn't always go down right.
  24. I think you may be right about the sensitivity thing. I seem to be able to eat a better variety of flavors in the evening and in the morning it is typically cream of wheat or something pretty bland. And, the chicken was pretty dry but I don't think I was going to fast. Chicken has been up to this point one of the easy foods for me to eat. Thanks for your responses.
  25. My hospital co-pay was 300 and I asked them if I could make payments and they had no problem with it.
