Today was kind of a bad day

I have been doing the same thing since my liquid diet starts on Tuesday. To be honest I haven't felt very good over the last couple days because of it, I have been eating a ton of crap. I haven't cried for the food yet, I have a feeling I am going to be an angry person for a few days/weeks after surgery. I did have a very emotional moment while at work of all places while I was Instant messaging my husband. We were chatting and I typed out a sentence that once I lost some weight I would need to find a place to dance at. I used to dance when I was younger and just love dancing and I guess the thought of being able to do that again was overwhelming. It will be an emotional roller coaster for awhile but I am sure this is going to be the best thing I have done.

    Farewell food tour

Thanks for all of the replies. I am not cheating on anything currently, I am not on my pre-op diet as of yet, that starts next week.

    vitamins

The bariatric advantage Lemon and Raspberry Calcium chews are good, like having a star burst almost. My Doctor's office recommended the Bariatric Advantage Multi Vitamin Crystals that mix in your water. I haven't tried the crystals yet but they come in a berry flavor I guess.

    Unrealistic Expectations

I am hoping that since I am participating from now until the end of May (with surgery tucked in the middle) in the local Corporate Cup healthy team challenge that any weight loss I have I will attribute to that and then when it is over I will say I am continuing to eat right and exercise. There is a woman on the floor I work on and I know she had a bypass years ago and has now gained a bunch of weight back and is struggling. I don't talk to this woman but i know that about her cause people talk too much.
  5. So I had my endoscopy done today and the doctor found that I have mild gastritis. He said he would look at the biopsies he took and would let me know more in a week. Anyone have this and do you think it could possibly mess with me having the surgery? The weird thing is that like two weeks ago my stomach felt very sensitive any time I ate anything and then 2 nights ago I didn't feel well all night. I have never had any problems at all prior to this with my stomach ever. Thanks. Heather

    Bra Size changes

I apologize if this has been asked before. I have always been very large chested even when I was thin. I cannot buy a bra in a regular store. I have to order them online and they aren't cheap. I am making due with the ones I have now because I know I will start losing weight and have to change sizes. I don't know how much of them I am going to lose but I believe it will be a LONG time before I possibly get to a size I can buy in a regular store. I hate to spend the money on all new bras everytime I drop a couple sizes. Any suggestions on what to do so I don't spend a ton of cash on items I will probably only wear for a short time? Have anyone else had to deal with this?

    Unrealistic Expectations

I am being very picky with who I tell. My immediate family knows and one co-worker. I told my boss I needed to take two weeks off in April that I would be having a procedure done and let her know I am telling the rest of the staff I am going on vacation. So she approved my time off and said "vacation it is". I may open up a bit more after awhile. I like to keep things to myself and this place is gossip heaven and I know people will be talking about me. I am usually a very "out of the spolight" kind of person. I have over 200 lbs to lose so people will start noticing but I am hoping that the eating better and going to the gym reason will be enough to satisfy.

    Soda Question

I had to do 6 months of nutrition visits. I have Anthem BCBS. My last one is April 1st.

    Soda Question

Just to get myself going ahead of time I gave up caffeine about 2.5 weeks ago. I wasn't too big of a soda drinker but I drank lots of hot tea. The headaches during the first week were horrible and now I am fine. You don't want to put yourself through headaches and surgery at the same time. (Diet Dr Pepper was a preference of mine too). So now I drink lots of Sobe 0 cal lifewater, crystal lite and decaf Tea.
  10. I haven't been sleeved yet but 2 weeks ago I decided to give up caffeine because I figured it would be a problem when it came time for surgery. I had some wicked headaches off and on for several days so that could possibly be it. I didn't think I was a heavy caffeine drinker, just a couple cups of tea a day and a soda once or twice a week. I hope they get better for you.

    April Sleevers?

I got my tentative date yesterday which is April 12th. I still have one more Nutrition visit on April 1st but if all goes well it will be that day. I will start my pre-op diet on the 29th of March.

    Ezekial bread

I used to buy this and it is an acquired taste. I used to toast it and put tuna or egg salad on it.

  14. I was required to go to the cardiologist. Had a consult and EKG and then needed to have the chemical stress test done on a separate appointment. They inject you with some chemicals that simulates stressful activities and monitor your heart. I have had this done twice before, was no big deal really.
  15. There were quite a few questions that people asked at the seminar I went to but mostly general stuff. The doctor encouraged everyone to ask the more specific questions on their initial doctor's visit. I have gotten a lot of answers from reading here but as I think of things I just ask the next time I am at the doctor's office since I am there every month.
  16. Hello Everyone, I am pretty new to these forums and only posted in a couple threads so far so I thought I would make a formal introduction. My name is Heather and I have been contemplating surgery for over 3 years now. I'm married, mother of 2 teens and work a pretty stressful, busy office job. Back in 2007, before I knew about the sleeve, I went through the process up to the point where I had a surgery date for the band and I chickened out. I vowed to fix it myself and through a variety of diets, a couple of books and free 3 month Y membership I am here today weighing about 50 lbs more than I did back then. I have a significant amount of weight to lose(200+). I heard about the sleeve from a person that my husband talks to online and I began research it several months ago. I like the idea of this SO much better than the other options. My aunt had a bypass years ago and while she did lose weight, her health has been compromised because of it. Between that, my family history of chrohn's disease and just generally not wanting anything rerouted, I definitely did not want to go with that procedure. I started the process again a few months ago knowing my insurance at the time did not accept the sleeve as a viable procedure. I received notice that my insurance now does accept the sleeve so I am feeling better about finishing up my appointments and getting it done this time. I had to have a 6 month nutrition history so that brings me to about April before I can have the surgery scheduled. All of my appointments are complete except for the gastroenterology visit my surgeon wants me to have before surgery. I look forward to speaking with the folks here and learning from everyone who has already been through this process.

    On My Way...

Had my 4th of 6 nutrition visits yesterday and learned all about what my doctor requires pre and post op. I am feeling even better about this process with each day that passes. I know I will probably be scared to death when I have a date and it approaches but it is all going to be worth it. Because my BMI is so high he wants me starting at least one shake a day now with some exercise. My company participates in the local United Way corporate cup and if you join the healthy team competition you get 3 months free at the local YMCA and that starts on the 28th, perfect timing. 2 weeks prior to surgery I would start the actual pre-op which is 4 shakes per day and a ControlBar (only if needed) and unlimited veggies with no fat, then Clear liquids only 2 days prior. It looks like my date will be sometime in April. April 1st is my last nutrition visit and they will submit my paperwork on that day, they said approval should only take a week. I met a woman in the Doctors office yesterday who is 4 weeks out from the sleeve and we talked for a few minutes. She has lost 30lbs already, looked great and said she was feeling great. Everything I read here and hear about the sleeve has been so positive, I am so glad I didn't get the band 3 year ago. My post op diet is pretty straight forward 7 days for each stage but if you are feeling comfortable he will let you progress a day or so early to the next phase. I also received all my samples from unjury, Syntrax nectar and Chike. Looking forward to finding ones I like since everyone has such mixed reviews on these things. I had Unjury chocolate Splendor this morning, tasted it with Milk only and liked it and then added some Peanut Butter and liked that as well so that one is definitely going to be a purchase for me. I also like Bariatric Advantage vanilla but it is quite pricey and that is why I haven't purchased any of the other flavors from the Dr's office because I don't want to pay 50 and not like it. I like mixing the vanilla with bananas and/or blueberries. I am glad to have these forums to gather information and read all of the inspirational stories from all of you. Without this forum I don't think I would be as prepared as I will be for this process.

    Weight Loss

I hope to lose about 237 or so. I am still at the beginning and won't be sleeved for another couple months. I have no intention of having any other procedures so I too hope this tool will work for me the entire way there.

    goodbye obesity

    Congrats =)
  20. So I got some samples of protein powder and today I decided to try the unflavored Unjury in a yogurt. I want to know which kinds i like prior to surgery because I don't have the money to spend on things I am not going to use. I was quite surprised by the amount of powder I had to incorporate in this small cup of yogurt. I didn't think it would all mix in. Should I be mixing and entire serving into 6oz of yogurt? The taste wasn't too bad, it did alter the taste of my yogurt slightly but not so much that it completely sucked. I used a Lemon Stonyfield, perhaps I should have used strawberry or something else since the lemon is pretty subtle. I just want to make sure I am doing it right. Thanks for any info.

    I drew the line...

I got a sample pack of the BA vitamins from my surgeons office and tried the Chocolate Mint one yesterday, it was horrible. I still have the other flavors to try, no idea what vitamins I will end up with one sleeved.

    Unjury Protein Powder

I just received my sample pack of unjury today. Haven't tried anything yet. They sent me two of each flavor, a food thermometer and a small 16oz rubbermaid container to mix it in. Ordered from their site and it cost 17.95 and 6 dollar shipping. I sure hope I like them. I am worried about finding Protein that I really will like.
  23. Great post. Thank you for sharing. Congrats!!
  24. Thanks for the message back when I first signed up. Sorry I didn't respond sooner. Looks like we might be getting done about the same time. It's always good to have someone to talk to. I am not really telling anyone other than one friend and my husband. Would be happy to chat any time.

  25. It does go in the signature section however you should be using the BBCODE not the HTML code. Copy the other one and use that instead and it should be ok.
