  6. nope unfortunalty same thing cant have candy in your mouth tecnicaly you are not supoed to eat anything in the kitchen all you can do is "Taste" I guess I will just have to suck it up and keep waling buy the food.
  7. I have not had the suregery yet but my Dr. and Nut say no cabination there is just not enough room / streach for all that gas.
  8. I have tried a few different protien powers/ drinks but the only one I can find that will actually go down in Chike the chocolate tastes like a melted fugdesicle and the vanilla tasted like frosting the strawberry was okay but not m y fav have not tried the oreange or the bannana. they are a bot higher in cals and carbs then my Nutrishinalist wants but i figue that if its the only way i can get my protien then i will cut the cals and carbs out someware else. Goo luck!
  9. Sunshine you shold go onto various sites and either order there sample pack or e-mail them and have them send you free samples. I agree with you on that protien powders are not so yummy but if you can handel to bullet you will be abel to find something you like. Also if you go under food and nutrition - protien driks/powders Oregindaisy has a thread up of a few places you can go and get samples Places to get liquid Protein samples (1 2) Oregondaisy This may also help. Also you said you were worried about takeing the "good food" away from your family, but if you think about it the"good food" is probably part of what got you to ware you are today. so if you are cooking food that is GOOD for you then it is also good for them to, they will get used to it and thank you in the long run. Plus there is no reason that you cant make the good for you food tast good you just need to be a little more creative! Good luck with your journey keep us posted!
  10. Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunatly I have TMJ so I am not supoed to chew gum plus it is a healthcode violation and against company poicy to chew gum in the kitchen
  11. Hello all I am in the begining stages of my pre op diet, waitingfor a date. I am a Chef and have allways been able to walk around and just pick up something and put it in my mouth ( almost involutary and not allways the best for you foods, almost never good for you foods) now that I am on my pre op diet and haveing to journal everything. I have been trying to pay more attention to what I put in my mouth, but am still finding it way hard to be surounded my food 10 -15 hours a day and not want to pick. Also trying to reduce my carbs ALOT so I am going through carb withdrawls at the same time(no fun). I hope ot gets easier just trying to keep in mind that I want weight loss more then I want the food in front of me. So anyway after all that I was really just wondering if there were anyother food industry people out there with this same challange????

  16. I personaly have tried alot of differnt powders and the only one i can stand is Chike the chocolate kinda tastes like a melted fudgsicle and the vanilla tastes like frosting all tough thay are a little higher on calories and carbs then my Nut would like i figuer as long as i am getting in the protien i can cut out the calories and carbs in other places. Also if you go onto the protien web sites and e-mail them some of them will send you free samples.

  20. Hello I live in Vegas also, havent gotten my sleeve yet but hopeing to soon just waiting on the insurance mostly well anyway if you all dont mind the next time you all get to gether send me a message I would love to meet some other sleevers out here!!! Thanks Jen
  21. First if you go to Dr. Tengs seminar at the end he and his assistant stay at the end for as long as it takes to answer evey ones questions (I recomend you stay even if you dont have any questions cuz there may be questions answered that you did not even know you had). I did ask the price for the sleeve at one of my visits they said with insurance for me it would cost about $3000 total for the Dr. and the hospital with insurance and about $20,000 for self pay. May be different with your insurance just ask the assistant she is very helpfull. My insurance did cover the pshych eval and most of the GI I will have to pay $95 for his Nutrishionalist. And the Upper GI can be done around your home anywhere as far as I know just let the person filling out your script where you want it done, he does not have one particular place for that. Also he also requires for some people depending on your current health a cardio and or pulminary test which I did not have to do but would guess that insurance would cover that. I hope I was able to answer your questions if you have any more please dont hesitate to ask. He really is great good luck with your new adventure.
  22. If you cant get benifiber any brenad of fiber supliment should work
  23. hello all, I am curently in the research/ jumping through hoops for the insurance stage. I have chosed Dr. Teng for the sleeve. All of the apts I have had with him or his staff have been excelent, they answer questions and help in any way that they can. I was just wondering if anyone else has had surgery with him as I can not find any info on him in the internet. But I do know he had good stats never had a leak or a death and a lot of precedures done, and he has been given a center of excelcnce award. Thanks
  24. Hello every one, I am curently in the research / jumping through insurance hoops phase. I am going to be having the sleeve done with Dr. Teng in Las Vegas where I live, All of the apts i have had with him or his staff have been great but I was wondering if there was anyone out there that has all ready had the surgey with him?
  25. Hello all i know this is a fairly old thread but i cant seem to find anyone out there that has poased anything on DR. Teng in Las Vegas. I have am still in the jusping through hoops for the insurance stage, but so far Dr. Teng and his staff have been super excelent. They answer all questions, are so supportave, and even call my insurance multipul times cuz the insurance company had no idaea what they were doing and I could not get any answers from them. As for pre op tests he does not require much only to see his Nutritionish and to see a phych consult either his or your insurances, also some simple blood work and an h pilori test ( breath into a bag nothing to it) and the ever fun uppper GI ( really was kinda cool got to see my tummy working) that was it for me but i am only at a 40 bmi with no co morbidity issues. If you do happen to have a history of issues you may need to see a cadioligist and a pulminologist. and thay will even make the apts for you so you dont have to sit on the phone for ever with the various drs. So all in all i know that there are not many good Dr.'s in Vegas actually swore I would never have sergery here but Dr. Teng really is excelent.
