I agree with lilmissdiva try backing it up a steap your tummy might not be ready for the next stage. Everyones directions are different and everyones healing is different.

If you drink the vitamin water zero it is sweetend with stevia which is not a chemical but a plant basted sweetner like sugar is but has no calories. I am in the same boat I do not like ingesting artificial sweetners we are just not made to consume chemicals.

Congrats on getting past the first step making your first decission! 1. How long did it take those of you to get insurance approval? My insurance Cigna had me jusp through a five week hoop jumping conpetition but after that was all done and the papper work got to the right people it took about a week to get the call for the aproval. 2. From the point you got your approval how long did it take you to have for procedure? I could have scheduled for the next week but since my mother is flying out from across the country I scheduled it for a month out. 3. What kind of presurgery things did you have to do? For thr Dr. I had to do a upper GI (simple and painless, kinda cool to see) and some blood work, plus a h.Pilori test. For the Insurance I have to do two tobaco tests, phych test 5 EAP sessions and proof that I had not gain 20% of my weigh in the last year. 4. Is there some rough estimate on how much someone can expect to lose with the sleeve? I know its not an exact thing, but would love a gut feel, no pun intended, maybe some pun intended I have not had the surgey yet but I have heard and seen from members on here that you can loose all if not more then your excess weight! my Doc said that I have to crush anything I take for three months then I have to cut up in either half or 4 for the rst of my life because thay could cause obstruction

I have not had it done yet but will be going in on the 21st I know it is not real close to your date but if you would like you can e-mail or pm me and I can give you my number.

Okay so you made me tear up at work, I sure do get some weird looks when I do that!!! That really was a heart felt post and I feel you are going to do so well with this because you have such good reasons and motivations to do it. As for the pre op diet I was am on a 1200 cal low carb low fat hight protien diet until 10 days before then at 10 days I have to start a 4 protien shake and a low carb veggie salad with lemon juice. I do think it is a good idea for you to start your own pre op diet because the healthier you are when you go into surgery the faster and better you will recover and the safer it will be to be on the table. I am so in the I want everything mood especially since my 10 day liquid diet starts in 8 days but if I gain any weight before that my dr will cancel in operation so I just have to be good no matter what!!!

Thats excelent news! Xenical is a weight loss drug right? Why would they keep you on that when you are planning to go have VSG? I would think that they would want you on a drug for the shortest time possible. Well have fun with your apts and keep us posted

I agree I miss the old site. Maybe it will just take a while to get used to but things just dont line up on the screen correctly its kinda like some one was coloring out side the lines(I duno might be my pc but???) I also miss the new post button but I think I found a way around that. There are more things I an not a huge fan about but I will reserve those thoughts untill I become more firmiliar with the new format and maybe some of them will go away.

My doc prescribes Prilosec solutabs, he is super causious of obstruction so I cant take any pills with out cutting and crushing them I just hope they dont taste to horrible

you could make it like a tappas type restaurant so that all people could go there but then have a special mushy/liquid menu for us

Yup me I deffinatly get them and I totaly hope they go away after surgery... cuz that would be awsome!!!

I had to ware ankle weights plus drink a ton a h2o before one of my apts because I had lost some before I was offically aproved and it worked so that is deffinatly an option. But dont give up you will never regret fighting for what you want/need but you regret giving up!

If you have questions that you want answered that of course it is worth seeing a surgen, But if 26 is your bmi you are fairly close to normal so they may not do the surgey but at least you will have your answeres that you need anot the what ifs that will drive you crazy good luck

I am sorry that your family treated you like that, I agree with every opne else that they may just be worried about you and with the stress of your brothers cancer it may have just been to much emotion for them to handle and it unfortunay got thrown back at you. I also agree that you shoud try to inform them more about the procedure. When I told my mother what I was doing she was a bit hesitent and gave a little push back as to may be there is another way, but after I showed her that I had done my research and shared that information with her and she did some thinking back to my strugke with weight all my life she is TOTTALY on board with this and is flying out to be with me during the surgey. Well any way good luck with your family I wish the best for you and your brother and I hope that come around and relize this is in your best intrest and in the long run theirs since you will be able to take better care of them when you are healthy and living longer.
