  1. Congrats on your complication free surgery!! And I comend you to be brave enough to have a surgey that is so new. Jane_J I am not sure where I read this but there is a though out there that with the plication the grelin levels go down a bit (not as much as VSG) the area that produces it is so squished in a small space, then the pressure on it helps slow the production of it. I dont know if it true but I guess as more of this surgery is dont the real asnwers will come out!

10 day Post Op appt w/Dr.

10 days out and you can eat normal food allready???? I am so jelous, on my Drs plan I wont be able to ear "notmal" food until like 4 months out!! Any way good job on your loss I am sure you will hit or surpass the 30 by 6 weeks. And I totaly agree I think it is totaly normal to think you are the only one that the surgey will not work for.

  9. So I went to the nutrishinolist on the 22 and she told me to start on the pre op diet of 1200 cal low carb high protien. So I started on the 23 and during the past five days I have lost 4.6 pounds(which I was happy to see gone:thumbup:). Well while I was as the support group my DR. and Nut put to gether, I was talking to his assistant and she told me to stop loosing :confused1:becasue I was right at 40bmi when I started and now am below, and not being aproved by my insurance yet thats not a good thing. So I am frustrated that I have to go through the start up process again at a later date but also happy that I can go back to eating yummy food and no more damn protien shakes for a while!! Well any thanks for letting me complain a bit feel a little better now. Off to get some sushi and chocolate :drool5: well I guess I could weight till at least lunch time :001_smile:!!

Thanks!!!

Err so frustrating told to stop loosing

determined1 No I have not gotten any approval yet I am still have 4 more weeks of mandatory (by the insurance company) counseling to do before my paper work is handed in for aproval. The assistant said after I get the approval then I am free to loose, but to be on the safe side I need to stay above 40 bmi to be approved. Iamsunshine the diet that my nut game me to follow was a high protien 1200 cal diet and I decided to cut out all refind carbs the only carbs I got were from fruits and veggies. So it is supoed to be a shake with each meal one serving of carn with either lunch OR dinner lean protien for lunch and dinner with veggies on side. for Breakfast it is the shake plus berries. I know I said it was a 1200 cal diet but really I was only getting 700 -1100 cals a day. But basicaly it consisted of a protien shake made with skim milk plus a cup of berries for breakfast.2 hard boiled egg whites or 1 cup of melon for a snack. 2 oz of turkey of dry tuna with raw carrots celery radishes and cherry tomatoes for lunch. then 2-4 oz chicken with steamed veggies plus either a canned veggie or 1/2 cup Beans. then if I was still hungry later at night I would have a mini bag of light popcorn, Oh and lots and lots of Water at least 64 oz usually more but no drinking 1/2 hour before eating during eating and a 1/2 hour after eating honistly that was the hardest part. good luck with your 10 pound I know you can do especially if you do some excersize which I did not.

Err so frustrating told to stop loosing

Okay so before anyone starts yelling at me I am not going to go over board I will still keep the same lessons lerned, I will onlt eat when hungry and only untill satisfied, I will still keep the high protien and not so much grazing or snacking. I am just going to add more calories by adding back in carbs which I had compleetly avoided except fruit and veggie carbs by choice. I will just have to add them back in moderation, chalenging but what part anout this journey is not, so its doable.
  14. Hello all I am in the begining stages of my pre op diet, waitingfor a date. I am a Chef and have allways been able to walk around and just pick up something and put it in my mouth ( almost involutary and not allways the best for you foods, almost never good for you foods) now that I am on my pre op diet and haveing to journal everything. I have been trying to pay more attention to what I put in my mouth, but am still finding it way hard to be surounded my food 10 -15 hours a day and not want to pick. Also trying to reduce my carbs ALOT so I am going through carb withdrawls at the same time(no fun). I hope ot gets easier just trying to keep in mind that I want weight loss more then I want the food in front of me. So anyway after all that I was really just wondering if there were anyother food industry people out there with this same challange????
  15. For me I dont have a date yet but they have me on a pre-op diet anyway the basics of it are low carb high protien and no more then 1200 cals a day. It says you can have one portion of carns a day like brown rice or whoel grain pasta but I have chosen to stay away from all carbs that are not in fruit or vegies since that are a namjor triger food for me. But since I am not eating carbs I am actually finding it hard to even get in 1000 cal a day I have been ave about 700 - 900 and have losy 3 pounds in 3 days. so it is toatly worth it to start the diet asap plus it will help you get used to the diet after the surgery and if you slip up now its not as big of a deal just get back onto it. Good Luck all!!

    Getting in Protein

I have tried a few different protien powers/ drinks but the only one I can find that will actually go down in Chike the chocolate tastes like a melted fugdesicle and the vanilla tasted like frosting the strawberry was okay but not m y fav have not tried the oreange or the bannana. they are a bot higher in cals and carbs then my Nutrishinalist wants but i figue that if its the only way i can get my protien then i will cut the cals and carbs out someware else. Goo luck!

    My story

Sunshine you shold go onto various sites and either order there sample pack or e-mail them and have them send you free samples. I agree with you on that protien powders are not so yummy but if you can handel to bullet you will be abel to find something you like. Also if you go under food and nutrition - protien driks/powders Oregindaisy has a thread up of a few places you can go and get samples Places to get liquid Protein samples (1 2) Oregondaisy This may also help. Also you said you were worried about takeing the "good food" away from your family, but if you think about it the"good food" is probably part of what got you to ware you are today. so if you are cooking food that is GOOD for you then it is also good for them to, they will get used to it and thank you in the long run. Plus there is no reason that you cant make the good for you food tast good you just need to be a little more creative! Good luck with your journey keep us posted!
