  1. Is it a sign of being "too tight" if you feel uncomfortable and really full the day of the fill? Will this feeling go away overnight? I made the mistake today of eating right before my fill appointment, and I wasn't sure if that could have been the reason why I felt uncomfortable. The Water that I drank after my fill went down fine, but I noticed on my way home from the appointment that I was starting to feel a little uncomfortable (like I needed to burp but can't), and it's been about 4 hours and I am still feeling uncomfortable. Does this sound like I need some Fluid out or maybe a gas bubble? Would eating right before the fill cause this discomfort? I knew that this fill would be putting me close to a "good range", but maybe it was too much. Any input or advice is appreciated! Thanks!
  2. I SOOOOOO agree with you! I feel terrible! but I did manage to burp a little (sorry that's kinda gross to say) and it helped a little, but still feeling uncomfortable. I learned this lesson the hard way!
  3. I know that this may be asking a lot of you to answer, but I was wondering if some of you bandsters out there that have been banded for awhile and have a reached a good restriction, or anyone who is loosing weight consistantly, what you eat during the day. I am just starting to get my fills, and right now, I am still struggling with being hungry every couple of hours. I am trying to keep track of my calories, but i think that I am eating way too much still. I am doing great with the protien, but still hungry after two hours. Maybe I am not eating the right things to hold me over. I am hoping to get some new ideas of what the "ideal" day of eating looks like from fellow bandsters that are further in this journey than me. Any input would be helpful if you feel up to writing back! Thanks a bunch!

    this postop diet...

I soooo know where you are coming from! I went through the same thing during my post op diet. I wanted to chew my arm off to get some solid food. When can you go to full liquids? Like creamy soups? It helped me so much once I could eat them. I don't have any great advice, just hang in there! I know that it's hard! and Good luck!
  5. I was hungry right out of surgery! I was allowed to go to full liquids (protien shakes, creamy soups etc) but i know exactly how you feel! I would make my protien shakes into smoothies with frozen strawberries, a half a banana, protien powder, 1 packet of equal and water all blended. It taste like a fruit smoothie and it's liquid and has protien. i hope it helps get you through this tough time!
  6. 1st. Fill done, and ready for number 2! :)

  7. Hey there! How are you doing? I just got my first fill three days ago. I have been working my butt off at the gym and the scale isn't moving. i hope these fills start to help with that.

  8. You are funny. I just got my first fill three days ago. Not much of a difference, but I expected it (thanks to this forum). I had been going throught the "bandster hell" also. I am fortunate that my doctor says that I can come back every week to get a fill if needed. I am already scheduled for my next one! I am hoping after the next couple fills that I will feel some restriction too. Best of luck to you!

    admitted after today's surgery

My blood sugar spiked also after surgery, and I am not a diebetic either. They just gave me a shot of insulin and never checked it again after that. They sent me home that night and I was fine. Hope everything works out for you

How you'll feel after 1st fill?

Sorry that you had such a terrible expeirience! I just had my first fill and I was scared and nervous, but it was painless and quick. I hope your next fill goes much better!
  12. Anyone have any suggestions for Breakfast ideas that are high in protien and are low in starch? I know eggs are high in protien, but I actually have a little bit of a hard time getting eggs down. So I am trying to find some things to eat for breakfast that are good for you and keep you full. My dietician tells us to eat 4 hours apart and absolutely no snacking in between. Which sometimes when I have oatmeal (starch), or a protien shake or yogurt for breakfast, I am really hungry within 2 hours. I don't have fill yet, but I am trying to eat better and need some ideas if you have any! I am hoping that once I start getting my fills, that a yogurt or protien shake will fill me up for longer! I hope this is the case anyway!

    Good Breakfast Ideas?

I love carnation instant breakfast, but same thing, hungry after two hours. I am hoping a fill will help with that. But thanks for your input! Much appreciated!

Tracy (Wheeler5051) checking in very late for the May challenge. Checking in at 249 lbs. Too bad that I gained a pound and didn't even come close to my goal. Oh well, maybe with my first fill coming soon, and a new month, maybe things will go better! Good job to all of you who lost weight, met your goal or exceeded your goal. Lets go June!

    Motivational help please?

KEEP YOUR CHIN UP! You can do this! Sorry to hear about all that you are dealing with right now, sounds tough. I know how it feels and I was told today from my dietician, to write down why I had this surgery, all of the things that I want to get out of it and look at it everyday. I was struggling too, I thought that was good advice from her. I plan to remind myself everyday of why I went through this surgery and what I want to get out of it everytime I think about eating something that is not healthy for me. Just like Stephy5 said, your hubby will come home to a healthier, sexier, thinner you! Keep your chin up! Things will get better! You can do it!
  17. Man, some of you guys are so lucky to already have fills in your band and aggressive fills. My surgeon won't even think about a fill until 6 weeks out and then it's small and slow to get to the "green zone". I know that he is a great doctor, but sometimesI wish I had all of your luck! I can't wait for my first fill! Good luck to all of you!
  18. Thank you for sharing and congrats on your weight loss. It was encouraging to me!

    Phentermine?

Just my personal expierience, I was on phentermine on and off for over 15 years! And I can tell you that it is like crack. It is REALLY hard to get off of, (not that I have ever done crack, but it's an addictive drug). Once you stop taking it, you will feel hungry like crazy and tired tired tired! I gained 45 lbs in 3 months after I stopped taking it this last time, right before my surgery actually. It messed up my metabolism and it is really bad for your heart. I won't lie, I liked having the energy from taking it, and I lost a few pounds while I was on it, but as soon as you stop taking it, watch out! I am not the kind of person who likes to tell anyone what they should and shouldn't do, but I actually got this surgery so that I could perm get off these pills and start loosing weight a healthier way. If you get back on Phentermine, it may hinder you once you stop taking them later on in your weightloss. Why not just try loosing with just the band first, I would personally give it at least 6 months before reconsidering taking it again. Just my thoughts, but good luck to you either way!
  20. I am in the same exact boat and had asked the same question! It sucks right now, doesn't it! Rachel412 gave me some good advice too, and I am trying to measure out my portions and not eat like I used to, even if I am hungry (or at least I think I am anyway). Good luck to you, I know exactly how you are feeling!
  21. Not any great advice as I really have no idea yet, but just wondering ......I do not have a fill yet, (i am only 4 weeks out) but my doctors office told me that when i come in to get a fill, that they require all patients to wait and drink a full cup of water and make sure it goes down without coming back up before they let you leave the office. I am guessing that they do this because they don't want patients to have the sort of "way too tight" feeling. Does your doctors office do this? It sucks that this is happening to you, and that you have to wait a weekend to be seen to give you relief. If they don't require you to do this, then I would take some water with you when you go back and be sure that it goes down before you leave, so that you don't have to suffer. Best wishes to you!

    May Challenge

Tracy (Wheeler5051) Checking in Tonight at 247lbs. I am going to have to bust my butt to get to my goal! too bad it's my Bithday week, and I know that I will be tempted with food.
  23. At my first post-op oppointment, my surgeon gave me a prescription to start taking that prevents gall stones. He said that it really helps prevent them from forming at all. You may want to ask your doctor about this. I wasn't happy to have to take another pill, but much better than getting gall stones!
  24. How frequent are your fills done? I forgot to ask my doctor when I went in for my 1st post op appointment. Is everyone different or are they pretty regular in the beginning?
