My daughter had brought up to me several times over the last 3 years that she thinks about having wls. She's 17, 5'2", weighs a lil over 200, has been overweight since about the she of 10, and has pcos. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this. I personally, am for it, but I wanted some feedback.

I'm the same way. Boobs never grew. I'm very small chested for my size. Which I'm ok with. They also haven't shrunk any with my weightloss, but I haven't los much.

If y'all haven't already, y'all should make your own cream soups, using whipping cream. I make a delicious kale & bacon soup. One with any white beans you like bacon and Italian sausage. You can do so many.

Did You Have Complications After Weight Loss Surgery?
kmt1973 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sorry to hear! I had a lap-band slip a few years in. What's your plan of action? Did you get a 2nd opinion or you trust your surgeon 100%? I trust mainly because it's what I suspected already and he confirmed it. He mentioned a conversion to bypass before we knew for sure. I've been looking into my options so I'll be ready when I return on the 17th for my appointment. -
This is gonna sound nuts, but I think I want to remove my Lapband

It sounds like you got a good Dr. You don't sound nuts. I've been banded for 3 years and also have never found that sweet spot. I've been having some problems and my Dr did an egd, he found erosion. Hopefully, I'll have a conversion. You should really have an upper gi done to see how it looks on there. God Bless. -
I shred any hard cheese (soft cheeses don't crisp up) or cut into squares, sliced hard cheese place on parchment paper (very important) lined cookie sheet, add any seasoning like chili powder, basil, garlic powder, etc. Bake in oven @ 350 till they almost look burnt. Sprinkle with a little salt, as soon as they harden I place in airtight container. They're a good carb free snack.

Thank you. It looks like that's where I'm headed, too.

I posted this on just the lapband forum and realized anyone dealing with this may not be a bander anymore. Any shared experience would be appreciated. I had an egd done this past Tuesday. The doc told my husband that there's some erosion and will see me in his office on the 17th(I was still sleeping). My man didn't ask any questions. Have any of y'all experienced this? Do you know what I could expect? The Dr has mentioned conversion before when I started having problems.

afreshstart, I'm sorry for what you want through. I've heard great things about the sleeve. My sister is getting it this coming Monday. AngelaWilliamaMD, thank you so much. It's appreciated. Cdominguez, you'll do great. Our complications are from the band. The sleeve seems a much better choice.

Pepperoni, olives, hummus, cheese to bake into crisps(tastes better than cheezits and satisfies a chip craving).

Does your surgeon know all this? If so, it seems negligent on his part to not have it checked to see if it was placed wrong or slipped.

Did You Have Complications After Weight Loss Surgery?

3 years since being banded, I have some erosion now. Just found out this week. -
Ladies, what do you consider your ideal dress size ?
kmt1973 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Size 10/12's to me are the sexiest women. Hopefully, I'll be there one day. -
Everything I've looked up about it says the same thing. Same as you. My drs p.a. mentioned that when he takes bands out that he does a conversion then and there. I'm sorry for what you have gone through. That Dr was wrong in not doing anything for you from the beginning. If it's eroding, common sense would be it would only erode more over time. How are you doing now?

Presurgery and I can't decide to keep WLS public or private
kmt1973 replied to soccermama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I told when asked about my weightloss. Other than that, I seen no reason for it to be brought up. It's not like I went around telling people about my gallbladder removal. -

It's going on three years since I've gotten banded. I started at 214, got down to 172, back up to 186. I am hoplessly failing the band. My problem that I didn't consider before the band, I'm a GRAZER! I literally do what cows do, I graze. All day, every day. I wake up in the morning thinking about food. I go to bed, just having had a snack first. UGH! The lapband is amazing in that it helps with my portion size, and it keeps me from eating a bunch of carbs, but it doesn't keep me from eating two pounds of bacon throughout a day. I don't know what I'm really asking of ya'll or what I'm doing. I just don't know where to turn.
-
I'm not making good food choices. I don't eat many carbs, but I do eat them. I think I am going back to the beginning. Get my mindset right. Thank y'all for helping me.

Will be getting the lap-band, hopefully in Feb- in LaGrange by Dr. Turton. Is there anyone on here in that area getting it or has gotten it? Any support groups that anyone knows of?

I was where you are at. If we were good at dieting, we wouldn't have needed to go through surgery. Its a struggle only til you get the proper fill. I got my band in March and just now the last two fills have felt the difference. It is a very slow process but, you will get there, I promise. Congrats on the weight loss.
-
Oh, also, I can eat nuts too but not certain mushies. Go figure. I think it's bc the soft food gets clumped together at the band.
-
I get stuck at least once a week. Dr didn't seem concerned. Usually mine is from not chewing enough. I hate to admit it but, I have been avoiding a lot of protein rich foods bc of it.

Lately, I've been close to tears bc I'm not sure if I want to lose all this security I've wrapped myself in. I love... fitting into smaller clothes, not taking all the meds, not sweating all the time, & feeling better all around. But, I feel like I'm really really losing a part of me, of who I am. And strangely enough I don't like when people compliment me on my looks. Am I alone in this?

The big bottles of flintstones from Sam's club, adults only have to chew one. I can tolerate them a whole lot better than adult chewables.
