    Way to go!!!!!

My first foray into fast food

It's wonderful, isn't it?!! I ate at Denny's and ordered an omelet and asked if they could leave off the hasbrowns and bread. They did and gave me a $2 discount! Plus I only ate half of it and had the rest for 2 meals! Pre-op, I would have eaten the omelet, hashbrowns and bread at one sitting!! LOL!

    feeling so full

I had the same experience at about the same time and it was the beginning of a yucky round of constipation! I hope that isn't the case for you, but if it is, start some fiber soon!! ;o)

    Whatcha eating today!!! Saturday

I take a lb of 95% lean beef, I add minced garlic (from a jar), hidden valley ranch powder, onion powder, pepper and kosher salt. Mix well. Cut Babybel Light rounds into 4's. Then I divide the lb of ground beef into 4ths and then each 4th into 4 pieces (about 1oz each). I pat out each piece flat, lay a piece of cheese on it and roll it up!! Then cook in a pan until done (some cheese may ooze out a little!). Each meatball is 58 calories, 2g of fat and 7.5g of protein! Hope you enjoy them!

  6. Ok, I feel a little silly not being able to figure this out on my own, but I started on mushie foods this week (week 3) and everytime I eat, I can't tell that I'm full until I'm kinda stuffed. Not stuffed to the point of feeling ill, just kinda uncomfortable for a few minutes. I'd really like to avoid that "too full" feeling, but I can't seem to be able to tell when I'm at the front of full and not at the end! Any ideas or signals that I may be missing? I'm taking very small bites, chewing reallly well, taking about 20-30 min to eat, and am enjoying every bite, I just can't tell when enough is!! Thanks so much!

How do you tell when you're full?

Thank y'all for all the great advice! I think I've figured out the problem! In really mushie foods (yogurt, cottage cheese, etc) I can eat a full 1/2 cup and be comfortably full! When its proteins or any veggies mixed in...it is only about 1/4 cup and I'm done! Whew! Lash, I did as you suggested and ate much less and that's how I figured it out! I'm so grateful to have such a supportive community that I can turn to when I have questions! Thanks again!

    constipation post surgery

I had some horrible constipation at 2 weeks post-op. I would strongly suggest that you start adding some benefiber to your water everyday.....it will really help!

    Empire BCBS?

I was just wondering if anyone else has Empire BCBS? Several BCBS companies changed their policy toward VSG, but mine hasn't. I'm just starting this process (just turned in my ins packet to my dr's office) and wondered if anyone had any experience dealing with Empire BCBS (mine is a select ppo). Thanks SO much!

The best NSV thus far ! ! !

Love it!!! Thanks for sharing the pic of your test!! (Yep, I had a stockpile of tests too...let's not talk about how much $$$ we've spent between the 2 of us on pg tests!!!). Congrats again, hon!! I'm over the moon for all of you!!!

The best NSV thus far ! ! !

OMGosh!!!! CONGRATULATIONS, Tiff!!! I'm SOOOOOOO thrilled for both of you!!! You give me so much hope! We've tried to conceive for the last 5 years and nothing.....it's one of the reasons I had the VSG! So I could get knocked up! YAY!!! You don't have a picture of that positive pg test??? (Maybe I'm the only nut who would want to see something you've pee'd on! LOL!) Well, a VERY happy and healthy 9 months to you and your bean!!!!

how much weight did you lose on the pre-op diet?

I lost 16.6 lbs on my 2 week pre-op diet! YAY!
  14. Ok....has anyone else experienced this?? I just started feeling a bit uncomfortable yesterday and today, I'm pretty uncomfortable. I took a dose of Miralax and am waiting, not so patiently, for it to work! LOL! I'm really surprised that I'm having this issue since I'm still on liquids....but maybe I shouldn't be since I'm not eating any veggies? *sigh* SO hoping this, literally, passes soon!!!

    Burning pain from left incision

Ok....this is just weird! I used Dr. Nick, live outside of Dallas and used Forest Park, too!!! How weird!!!! <3

    Burning pain from left incision

Take your pain meds and take it EASY for a few days....it'll feel better. I did the same thing. Totally overdid it when I felt better and had the same burning pain you're describing....it was awful. I felt a lot better after a day of total rest. Hope you feel better soon!

11 days post-op and, oh, the constipation!!

just a quick (and final) update. I used miralax 2 days in a row (didn't soften everything up like I was hoping it would), and ended up using a fleet enema last night. Today, everything is back to normal and I'm telling you, that will NEVER happen again! I'm using benefiber 2x a day and started eating blended vegetable soup last night. When I start on regular foods, I will make sure I'm eating veggies. It was HORRIBLE. I've never been so uncomfortable in my life. Ugh. I wish I'd used the enema first, then the miralax. I'll be watching to see how often I "go" and if nothing happens for more than 3 days, I'll take the miralax (it really is gentle and didn't cause cramps or anything) to get things moving. Thanks for all the advice. If you're newly post op, I would encourage you to add benefiber to your liquids and make SURE you get enough water!!

Potential bander thinking of going with the sleeve

I also looked into the lap band because all I knew about was that and gastric bypass. Gastric bypass scared me because rerouting my intestines sounded like a bad idea and I have arthritis and knew I'd need to be able to take ibuprofen. Plus malabsorption scared the peediddly squat out of me! LOL! Then a friend had a friend who had the sleeve, so I started looking into it vs. lapband. I knew very shortly that VSG was for me! No fills to deal with or the band slipping or foods that can't be eaten! And it's done forever.....at first that worried me, but then I thought....why would I ever want my gigantic stomach back??!! LOL! GL deciding! I love my sleeve and I've only had it for 2 weeks!

11 days post-op and, oh, the constipation!!

It is better! The miralax is helping and I skipped dinner tonight (cup of soup). I got in 62g of protein already, so I'm hoping things will be "cleared up" in the morning. I still have another week of liquids before I start mushies and acidic fruit isn't even on my radar! Thanks for encouraging my gut! LOL! Hopefully it will be "normal" soon!

11 days post-op and, oh, the constipation!!

Thank you for the response! I can hear things moving in there!! LOL! (oh, so sad that I'm getting excited about that!) I did go ahead and get the Miralax brand....I was tempted to get the generic, but I know sometimes it's just not as good as the brand name and, in this case, I wanted the BEST help!!! LOL!

    My Journey

I was sleeved by Dr. Nick on 3/8/11!! He's a GREAT dr! I used Forest Park Medical Center and it was a wonderful place! I'm 10 days post-op and am SO glad I picked Dr. Nick and the sleeve! I lost 8.2 lbs my first week! I finally feel like I can actually get all this weight off FOREVER!! GL!! (If you have any questions....ask away! I'll do my best to answer them!)

    liquid diet help.....

MsPuse, I get them at The Vitamnin Shoppe or online at www.bariatricpantry.com. I really like the Nectar because when you use a blender bottle its the consistency of choc/strawberry milk made with 1% or skim milk....really easy to get down! Not thick at all! I just drink all day long! I can swallow about 2tsp at a time now. HTH!

    March Role Call!!

Dazy, I can pick it up at the Vitamin Shoppe or order it from www.bariatricpantry.com for about the same price ($35). They are the cheapest I've found! BTW, thank you for watching my you tube channel!! I'm so glad you enjoy my videos!!

    liquid diet help.....

I'm one week post-op and here's what a typical day looks like for me Breakfast - 1cup of 1%milk with 1 scoop of nectar strawberry or chocolate truffle Protein powder in a Blender Bottle (don't need the extra air from making it in a blender!) (gives me 31g of protein! AWESOME!) In between - 3 cups of Water lunch - Same as breakfast (total protein = 62g) In between - 3 cups of water dinner - 1/4 cup of tomato Soup mixed with 1/2 cup of 1% milk eaten with a tiny spoon! makes me feel like I'm really "eating" I can't finish all of it but OMGosh.....it tastes SO good!! LOL! (or some other potato soup/butternut squash/etc. I found some yummy ones at Whole foods) After dinner - 3 cups of water That's about it! I feel like I'm consuming things all day, but even at that, I'm really looking forward to mushies! GL, hon!!

    March Role Call!!

Hi, March Sleevers!!! Just wanted to update! I'm doing MUCH better! I'm 8 days post-op and things are much easier! I'm not in as much pain, I have over done things 2x and that has set me back a bit, but I'm ok with that! Getting out of the house was worth the pain! LOL! I lost 8.2 lbs my first week for a total of 25.8! WooHoo!!! I'm still struggling to get in 64oz of water....but I'm making it my goal for today!! I'm also getting in 70g of protein easily! I'm using the Nectar Chocolate Truffle protein powder...I LOVE it! Tastes just like choc milk without a funky protein aftertaste! Wonderful! Anyway! Praying for all of us recovering and for everyone yet to be sleeved! We're all headed toward health!! YAY!
