  1. Thanks Stacey! I start mushies on Sunday so I have been planning pretty steadily to make sure I make good choices. Also, about every 4th day I am gonna kick up the carbs past 30 grams to see if that keeps things moving. I am afraid that my body is really gonna start holding onto everything soon! Wow, it has been 5 weeks for you!!! Time sure flies once you are sleeved, doesn't it?
  2. I am SO looking forward to this journey myself, I feel my largest size slowly loosening up and will start my stock pile in the corner of the closet soon I hope! Congrats on this milestone, one of many!
  3. Thanks, I choked down some liquid tylenol (BLAH!!!) and hope to get some relief soon. With this headache and weakness, this has not been a good day. Got my protein shake in this morning but slept all day after that so I am playing a little catch up nutrition wise.
  4. I emailed Dr. Aceves' office today asking what I can take. Anyone know what he allows if anything? I think mine is sinus related but it is really getting annoying now.
  5. Congrats! That is such a great feeling! I have a large range of sizes in my closet and I have decided to not go down to the next size until my current size is falling off of me so that I can enjoy that feeling of wearing the next size down comfortably. I am sure we are all tired of squeezing into a size just because! I really have not noticed a big change since losing the first 16 pounds but I think my body may be adjusting to the weight loss as you stated above so I am just going to keep doing my post-op diet as directed and be patient. Yeah! Have fun at your event, I am sure you will look stunning!!! Confidence sure does complete the new wardrobe, doesn't it!
  6. Mini, what an amazing feeling! I can't wait to be posting the same message! Folks like you give me hope as I look forward! That is so great!!! Congrats on being "NORMAL"!!!!!
  7. You have found the PERFECT place to prepare for this journey! Congrats and ask any questions you have! You have folks at all stages here and so we can all help you! Welcome!
  8. Doing well, still trying to get all the fluids and protein in but think I am getting the hang of it. I broke down and bought a scale...
  9. Stacey, noticed your ticker moved! Yeah!!! Bet it picks up again soon!
  10. Follow the guidelines you were given and you will be more confident in your weight loss! Believe me, once you have more options for food, it also gives you more opportunity to go over on carbs. Time really is flying for me so just focus on getting a variety in what you can have right now and plan for the switch to full liquids when it is permitted. I had to do clears for 10 days, it is all just a memory now and I am on day 13! Best of luck!
  11. OOPs! Got excited and hit enter... This is for YOU right now and it IS ALL ABOUT YOU RIGHT NOW!!! Yes, get some therapy, you cannot even begin to imagine how empowered you are going to feel when A) you have control of your eating and your weight and :001_smile: control of your own feelings and emotions. IT IS A DOUBLE THREAT!!! I am not saying kick him to the curb right now if you feel there is something that can be done to salvage the relationship but NOW IS NOT THE TIME. Only you know if it is worth it but right now, FOCUS ON YOU. If you need to talk, please contact me. I had a really rough night a few days ago, I have 3 kids I am raising on my own and between their acting up and my husband's constant messaging and harrassing me I thought I was going to crack! Before surgery, I would have been eating AND drinking to numb it all. I was SO PROUD OF MYSELF, I did not turn to either, I worked through it! You can too, I promise you!!! I also cut my cell phone off, I have a blackberry for work and I use that if I need to call someone or if someone needs to get ahold of me. It is so easy these days for text messaging and that was stressing me out, hearing from him all day long. REMOVE whatever obstacles are in your way, you finally have the tool to be successful and DO NOT GIVE ANYONE CONTROL OVER YOUR SUCCESS. I have read your previous posts, I know that you might possibly be feeling the insecurities that keep you in a bad relationship. Remember, you are getting rid of the bad relationship with food, toss out all other bad relationships with that one. The food relationship will be so different and much improved. The human relationship can be salvaged later if it is worth it. AND IF HE TRULY LOVES YOU AND IS THINKING OF YOU AND NOT HIMSELF, HE WILL UNDERSTAND. Sorry, this is a very near and dear subject to me, I am living it so if you need help, please just ask, if you just need to vent, go right ahead, trust me, I have been there I am sure! Keep you chin up and take it day by day. Also, something that is also empowering is to track your food, I use www.fatsecret.com. You can set what your calorie intake will be and so far I have found everything I am eating/drinking in their library so all of the nutritional info is already in there, very easy to do each day. It is amazing how much more you think about what you are putting in your body when you write it down. You can also track your weightloss and journal as well! OH AND CONGRATS ON THE WEIGHTLOSS SO FAR! I had my Mom with me too for surgery, wish I could have kept her for a while with me too! Hugs, It WILL all work out!!!
  12. I can speak from ABSOLUTE recent experience. I am separated from my husband right now and he kept the kids while I was gone for surgery, the minute I walked in the house after surgery it was all about him again. I told him to just leave. I have decided that I need therapy for ME right now and that I will deal with our relationship once I get my stress triggers under control. I can tell you that just the physical absence of him reduced my stress TREMENDOUSLY and that is what you probably need to do as well. THis
  13. Jerry, told ya, time will fly once you are on this side! Welcome and glad to have you here! My best advice almost 2 weeks post op is to take the eating/drinking slow, I am still learning that lesson. Excited to see your progress! Congrats!
  14. Thanks everyone! Well, the carbs are really scaring me. Dr A says 60 grams of carbs a day. I am not sure how to get all the calories in without going over carbs. Today was a very full day, hard to get enough protein without cars unless I drink all protein shakes with low carbs and nothing else. Hard to get excited about all of things things I can eat when eating all of these things will put me way over on carbs!!!
  15. By the way, I am so glad my Mom came with me. Although everyone there is very nice and the nurses came right away when called, it was nice to have her there to help me and to share in the experience.
  16. There is a Dairy Queen just down the road from the hotel and I think a KFC maybe, I did not eat at either one, we did not find them until after supper. There is a huge cantina/bar/restaurant within walking distance of the hospital, glad Mom did not discover that before leaving! Mom had the guacamole from the cafeteria, said it was great. She said the chicken salad was not anywhere close to what we are used to.
  17. Well, I said I was not going to weigh myself until I returned to work on Monday the 24th of May. I was getting cabin fever and needed to just come in to the office and get some things done so I came in and of course the scale in our gym was taunting me so I went and weighed myself, reluctantly because my size 14 work pants do not feel much different today as they did about 2 weeks ago when I wore them pre-op. Was not expecting to see the numbers on the scale this morning at all!!! Wow! So I know it will slow down and I need to continue to remind myself of that but dang, what a wonderful start to my journey. I am proud of myself, raising three kids on my own and having to cook every meal for them while I do not even lick a finger is tough but this confirms for me that I am doing the right thing and this is all well worth it! WHOOP!!!! (hey I am a Texas Aggie, gotta give a Whoop!!!) Thanks for all of the support and encouragement I have found here. VST is my new addiction...:thumbup1:
  18. Feeling under the weather this afternoon. Feel a sore throat coming on and getting weaker, I hope I have not come down with something. Our weather has been weird lately, in the 80s this past weekend and no in the low 50s and rainy.
  19. Good question Janet! I know that I have back pain when I am on my feet alot so it might just be exagerrated by the fact that I am so tired. I will ask though, thanks for pointing that out. Also, I actually had an epidural, they left it in until Wednesday, not sure why, I would like to know case the other patients did not have that!
  20. I was until today! My girls had recital pictures all day so I am beat! But they are in bed and I am chillin' now! It was really hard today getting in enough Fluid, felt like I was playing catch up this evening. Overall, I feel great. I do have a little pain, Dr. A did one of my incisions in my belly button which is a great idea, it will be hidden but I feel a little pull when I stretch so worried about that. Have not gotten on the scale and will not until the 24th so I can't say on that front how I am doing but I know it is crystal light, sf popsicles, broth, Protein drinks and sf Jello going in, that is it, oh and V8 veggie juice so can't imagine that I will not lose any weight by then! Thank you so much for checking!
  21. Thanks Faith! I will look for some coupons, that will definitely help! I have one I bought yesterday and I am still working on it so no way will I get two in one day! You look like you have done so well too! Congrats!
  22. Thanks so much! Just tried the protein powder from GNC (cookies and cream), gross!!! I have Isopure RTD (like gatorade, sorta) and that is hard to stomach so if I can do these, I will pay the $3 a bottle! I do worry about carbs, I think that is truly what keeps me fat!!!
  23. Found this drink at Target today, all fruit, all natural with whey Protein concentrate and soy protein isolate. Anyone hear of these? They have 30 grams of protein for 15 oz. I know I will drink this over the next few days but the carb content does bother me, 68 grams of carbs for the entire bottle...
  24. Well, I'll post just 6 days post-op... I do NOT have the urge to go buy a scale and am TOTALLY fine waiting to weigh myself when I feel the need! This tool is giving me the ability to control what goes in my body and as long as I know i am getting the right things, no need to jump the scale 3X a day! Haha, here is a funny one, I have stopped biting my nails... Go figure!
  25. WOW Tiff! Amazing, something to be really proud of! And tonight is the Military Ball right? Have a wonderful time!!!!
